That's actually the perfect idea. Guy Pratt is well accustomed to KZbin. I've seen him on some really good interviews. I think he was posting his own content at one point. David Gilmore simply does not like doing "media" interviews. He really only has to hit the big daytime and a few of the late night shows to promote his new album. When that round of "required" press junkets is done, David will go back to making music and ignoring the press. Not saying it is impossible, just that Gilmore very rarely does anything outside of traditional press, and as little of that as he can.

in defense of the late night hacks, their TV audience isn't predominantly music fans, so they have to resort to the fluff or else their audience won't understand and will tune out. Long ago on Carson, Bill Cosby and Morrissey were on together. The studio audience must have been fans because Morrissey got a way bigger crowd reaction when Carson said his name than when he said Cosby's name. Cosby was PISSED. You could tell it during his interview. It was great, watching America's dad (Cosby Show was still the #1 or 2 TV show in prime time when this aired) get upstaged by Morrissey. Great times.

@@zimmejoc I agree! Late night tv shows have to appeal to the masses so they're more likely to ask the worlds best musicians questions about their experiences with ghosts over their musical skills. Plus I can’t tell what your political affiliations are, what causes you favor, I wouldn’t be able to tell you what your favorite food or color is even. You and the variety you show, as Joe Perry once said “Let the music do the talking”. I can’t tell you difference between an A sharp and a C minor, you say “Sus chord” I laugh because it sounds funny. I have no clue. I can tell you my musical appreciation has improved greatly though because of your work. Some day I’ll understand a Sus chord and that’s why I keep coming back.

I'm a big fan, and I sort of get the point of this video-- but as you would probably be the first to know, popularity doesn't equal quality. I remember your comment while discussing how great Dick Cavett was as an interviewer (and he was), that "KZbin is the new TV" and thinking to myself, you know that is not exactly the highest praise in the world LOL.
@michaelduggan991
@michaelduggan991 8 минут бұрын
Also you're comments about you're not interested in personalities: I 100% agree that gossip and hearsay have no place, but an artist discussing his interactions with other great artists can be awesome. Tony Levin's anecdotes about John Lennon and Paul Simon were a great example. When you had Bela Fleck I was waiting for you to ask him about Tony Rice; didn't happen. IMHO who a great artist is as a person is somehow so tangled up with how he composes, plays music, that it is always interesting. When I was running and gunning in 1968 the idea of social media and something like KZbin wasn't even imagined in science fiction, and yet here it is. KZbin at its worst is like watching your neighbor's home movies; at its best freeform but tempered with education, skill, discipline and preparation-- which describes your channel to a tee. My biggest gripe with your channel is that now that KZbin has gotten so good at detecting ad blockers I have to fork out the $20 a month to watch.

I do find tv more relaxing to watch. Probably because the constant searching on KZbin can be draining. But Man KZbin is a Fantastic thing!

That's why I don't have subscriptions to most of those other streaming services. I do have a small amount, but I'm not throwing them my money when they don't deserve it. The more people that feel that way, the quicker they will be forced to improve.

Gilmour’s loss. Same with Page. The interviews on this channel (ironically) expose more of the person for ‘who they are’ than the interviews who approach that directly. Your interviews are about a journey. You let the interviewee guide it as much as you do. You can do this because you are knowledgeable, and you are genuine. The interviewee recognises this, and they trust you. Trust well placed I might add. Keep up the great work sir.

With the release of David Gilmours new album Luck and Strange he is all over social media and I would hazard to guess that without it, it would not have debuted at #1 on the UK album chart. I would love to see you do a proper interview with Mr. Gilmour. Don’t give up. Maybe ask Alan Parsons to put in a word for you.
