I settled and got the ddj 200 because I didnt want to wait. Settling into it now. No complaints besides it not having a way to connect directly to speakers. But if you get creative you can make it work. Plus I figure itll let me know if I even want to continue this after the quarantine is over lol so far so good though

I got the S2 MK3 for 250€ about a month ago and i'm really happy. Unfortunately i guess it's a bit more expensive outside of Europe. I really like Traktor 3, but it's the only software i ever used to dj so your statement makes me a bit nervous :D Anyways, nice video!

After watching MANY comparison videos, and reading many articles (and having a short stint with a DJ2GO2 controller) My personal choice has swung to the Mixtrack Platinum FX with the DDJ400 only a cats whisker behind.... I am EXTREMELY new to DJing to the point that I am only just picking the Numark up tomorrow, and have only had the DJ2GO2 for a week of quite frankly poor 'hacking' at an attempt to mix (purely my fault and of no fault to the controller)... do I expect the Mixtrack to magically make me better? I WISH! I do know it wont, but it does have some features I could not go past.

As far as beginner controllers go, I still think the ddj 400 is the way to go. I know of people that have club standard CDJS and still use the ddj 400. The main thing about it is that it prepares you for when you transition onto CDJS. You’ll feel ALOT more comfortable because the layout is very similar. I’ve had mine for 2 years and still works amazing!

I went with the S2 Mk3 as I have been using Traktor since day one. All the other software is a hefty upgrade and has gone to subscription based format. That alone was the deal breaker for me and why I stuck with Traktor. Just wished there were more controller options for Native Instruments software.

Learnt on a djj 400 and had always slated numark but recently used my mates mixtrack and was blown away by the pitch faders they are really smooth and about twice as long as pioneers which are almost unusable. If you want to mix without sync you’ll save yourself a lot of time going with numark

The DDJ SB2 was quite resistant to spilled beer, I tested it multiple times so hopefully the new Pioneer gear has kept this essential "feature"! Due to someone who was subsequently ejected and barred from the venue my friend unfortunately had to test it out on his DDJ-SX3 as well..

1 thing i hate is that in Europe DDJ-400 cost 300 dollars and not 250. And Mixtrack Platinum FX cost 350 dollars and not 250.

I think it's important to keep in mind what kind of music you think you'll be mixing most. For example, as someone who mixes mostly dubstep, riddim, bass house and dnb scratching isn't as important to me as it would be for someone mixing hip-hop. That said, the platinum FX is was more enjoyable for me to use than my SB3 was. However, I do think it's important to mention that another downside to the Platinum FX is that it only allows you to have one effect active at a time (you can still use it on both decks though) Also, it doesn't have a beat jump setting for the pads by default like some other controllers do (pretty sure the ddj-400 has that) which is a really good feature to have when you're doing improv sets in case you miss a cue point and need to get back quickly without messing up the music.

The DDJ 400 will unlock Rekordbox DJ (a different DJ program) for free, under the latter's Performance Mode. I'd say go for it! It's a great controller!

I wouldn't call Traktor software dead btw. Problem with Traktor Pro 3 is its legacy code, it's basically upgraded software back from all the way in 2000. That's why Native Instruments is rebuilding Traktor from the ground up with their Traktor DJ 2, which btw, makes the S2 mk3 play very well with iPad.

I have had my eye on an SR2 for a while now, as a possible smaller solution to my current setup, which is a Denon MC7000 with some other gear, in a large and heavy flight case. It looks to be a great controller option, especially for a new DJ. If you know your interest level is high, and you're willing and able to step up to a more mid-level price point, I would say the SR2 is definitely a good option to put on your short list. The MC7000 is on closeput at many places right now for a great price as well. If you're open to other than Serato, you could also look into the DDJ-800 unit, OR, check out Carlo's video on the Inpulse 500, which is for Serato/Djuiced... it is one I am looking into as well to recommend for a friend... So many options these days... good luck!

I have the MC4000...solid like a ROCK :) Pro grade for WORK. Pro connections, XLR, Booth out, Full size Pitch/Tempo faders . Only thing the Jogs are on the small side but no big deal. And IMHO You will NEVER use more than 4 hot que buttons per deck, take a look at PRO DJs on KZbin :)

Anyway, I know someone had asked you they were looking to upgrade into the Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX, but you gave them a tip to go for the DDJ-800. If you don’t mind me asking, why besides the $100 drop on the 800? I was looking into the DDJ 800 as well, but I see that SoundCloud still got some ground to catch up in their music catalogue, and I wish Rekordbox had made an attempt to lure Spotify or at least Tidal. Do you think maybe in the near future Tidal will make it to Rekordbox? Also, I been using my iPhone to use my DDJ 400. What is a good entry level laptop and cheap that I can possibly use the DDJ 800 or at least the DDJ 400 that I do have so I can get familiarize with the DDJ 400? No doubt that ddj 400 has this good features and makes the newbies comfortable of using it, but when it comes to the sound quality that they produce I would rather choose NI over the other 3 choices. (correct me if I'm wrong with this but that's what I've observed after jumping from one product to another.)

No. 1 for DDJ-400 for sure. I am not ashamed for using it in gigs even though I have more expensive DJ equipment at home. It is just light, portable, and convenient to use. I am too old to be hauling stuff. At the end of the day, my mixes and scratches do not sound better with more expensive gear as I try to use FXs as sparingly as possible.

THIS! I honestly don't mind bringing controllers to gigs where they can't provide CDJs/Turntables because I don't have the time (or manpower) to lug around a million cables and run the risk of having my mixer die via spilled water from a rowdy guest. If you've got the skills, you'll be able to get things to run just right!

I bought a ddj 400 because I like rekorbox' design more than serato's and because I am not able to purchase the pro version of serato since I don't own a credit card

The winner in value for the money is numark. Only brand that gives jog displays for that price range. The platters win also in size and the new fx switches is a smart addition. Plus the this controller is not limited to just 2 decks.

I currently have the DDJ 400 and have been using it for a few months and absolutely love it. However, recently the Numark Mixtrack Platinum DJ Controller caught my eye due to it bigger tempo faders and heavier jogwheels. Would MIDI mapping be worth doing on the Numark to make it work with Rekordbox??

Hi Carlo thanks for all the vids you made it’s awsome you made me back to DJ !!! I’m so confuse now help me please. Just came back to DJing during quarantine after a 10 years break. I buyed a DJ2GO2 to start using Serato lite and I want to upgrade soon. Until few days my heart went to the SB3 + Serato Pro. But this Numark came and it looks great : the biggest Jog Wheels with screen. The FX pad looks fun too. And the overall quality looks really good. So I was like OMG that’s the one !!! Then I watch this !!! I want a controller I can scratch but it’s not my primary goal. I’m more live mix and mixtape maker (with few scratch sometime) using ableton link. Should I buy the Numark or a SB3 ?
