I decided to take on motorcycling at 40 years old but then, the pandemic came. While I was waiting patiently (and painfully) for the lockdowns to stop, Yammie Noob was the channel I listened to to keep me motivated, positive and entertained. 2 years later, I now have riden for one summer, over 5000 KM, and decided to buy the PERFECT TOILET. Yes, the Ninja 400, Haha!

Yam mentioned generally going for a good brand if you know nothing else, and I agree with him there. You can get some pretty inexpensive starter gear from all the big-name manufacturers if you just take a little time to check their sites and then shop around. With summer coming up, also consider a mesh jacket. These are lifesavers, especially if you're planning on commuting.

If anyone is looking for a budget helmet brand which doesn't cut corners on safety you can look up MT HELMETS, they have great DOT an ECE certificates unlike LS2 Helmets which are in the same price ranges. I got 2 helmets from MT and my full face has 5 star rated protection(I think I have the Revenge model), for comparinson the nolan N87 has 4 stars, and I got a trials helmet which has 4 stars. I may have missed it, but do you have a video that talks about female riding gear? I follow some accounts (ATWYLD, Tobacco, Pando) but would love your thoughts. You seem to care about safety and style, only a couple years ago it was difficult to find safety gear that didn’t look Harley daddy, kinda dorky, or meant for the track. Especially for women. Anyway, would love to know your take on women’s gear.

THE LINK YOU PROVIDED IS WRONG.

@@carver7689 - I ride a small ADV bike and it does seem that Klim marketing has determined that there is a market of retired professional guys who drop $25K on a big new ADV bike, another $5K accessorizing the bike, and they'll spend $1500 on a very nice ADV jacket. Good for those guys and good for Klim for supplying products to satisfy that demand. Free markets for the win!

I spent 30 bucks yesterday to rent a dirt bike and spend an hour riding with some coaching on a motocross track. For $100 I could have gotten a half day. Tomorrow I trade in the CBR for a rebel 500. After that, I may get a hypermotard or z800 or …who knows?! 50 bucks a day maximum. I’ll spend some time on a cub 50 or something as well. It’s a tasting menu for two wheel good times.
