I appreciate your speaking on this subject. I liked the way you compared them. I have a suggestion that at the end, you repeat and say once again, this brand is the best - because I didn't write it down and now I have to go back and watch the entire thing again... and we're all pressed for time, right? My real FAVORITE part was when you said the orange ones do not work. I've looked on some of these websites, and some have said you MUST have orange lenses or they won't block blue light at all. So, I was surprised to hear you say NOT to wear them! Of course I do have a pair of the orange ones, because I believed those websites. So, thank you for clearing that up.

Really helpful video honestly. Since the beginning of the quarantine I’ve spent a lot of time inside, in online classes, playing video games, watching KZbin, in my phone, etc and my eyes have grown heavily strained and I don’t feel like I’m getting good sleep. Even though I cut back on screen time almost everything I do for fun around here involves a screen and I try to avoid going outside since I have a younger sister who gets sick incredibly easily. A lot of the blue light glasses I searched for were either cheap looking or in the 100 dollar range. These reviews saved me money and found me some glasses to improve my overall eye strain and other stresses along with it 😊 thanks a lot

@Mlinnik I got used to the tint. I only use it for computers and phone late in the afternoon/evening. It’s not great if you’re trying to watch a movie or something where you care about color because taking the blue spectrum out really changes things. But the lack of blue is more distracting than the orange tent in my opinion. You get used to it though and the trade-off for better sleep is worth it.

Hi Dr Allen, thanks for the review. I am a migraine sufferer and started using those orange-tinted glasses February this year, migraines did not stop coming but they not as severe and often I manage without taking medication. Also not as often as before. there are several major changes in how my body started operating since February. It is quite remarkable I could say. I wear them every night 6pm till 9pm , I love the dimmed atmosphere in the evening and especially watching films in "sepia colors" I could not do without them. I now consider trying migralenses that are dark green to see if they help with migraines any better.

My Cyxus glasses came an hour ago, and I was doubting if they actually block blue light, or just the uv rays, but this makes me feel a bit better!
@trafalgarla
@trafalgarla 3 жыл бұрын
If they are clear they aren't blocking blue light; actual blue light filtering glasses are amber. The guy in the video is an optometrist, so he can speak to the health benefits of blue light on eyes, but he's not an engineer or physicist so he doesn't know about the actual physics of light. I am a physicist though and the reason those little test cards activate in sunlight and the keychain light they come with is because they are responding to UV light (not blue light; the keychain light is a black light which is UV-A). This is easily demonstrated by the fact these cards do not activate if you shine any type of light bulb (which also has some blue light) or a blue LED on them. And the glasses block the UV light from the keychain light because every or almost every plastic or glass used for eyeglasses blocks UV light which is also the reason you don't get sunburned through the windows of a car. So these clear blue light glasses are just a way for glasses companies to charge more for blocking UV light which is what any pair of glasses will normally do. And the reason actual blue light filtering glasses are amber is because a filter blocks a certain percentage of a specific thing from getting through the material. So by definition, blue light filtering glasses have to block blue light and that will inherently change the color of the glasses and anything you see through them.

Would you recommend any for computing day to day?
@trafalgarla
@trafalgarla 3 жыл бұрын
@@ross011101 I don't know any brands of glasses well so I can't really recommend any. What I do know is that there are computer glasses that have increased magnification power for typical computer viewing distances which are supposed to help with eye fatigue (I'm not optometrist so I don't know the exact health benefits). And I also know that if you want blue light filtering glasses, then you need glasses that have an amber tint and, the more amber they are, the more blue light they block.

I do have an anti glare on my glasses right now, is this the same thing? I'm also wondering if I do have a blue light anti glare coating put on my glasses, what the cost savings might be to just buy a decent pair of these glasses you have reviewed?? Thanks for your time in putting out these videos out for us to enjoy and learn from. Have a good day.

I discovered that I have a pair of Cyxsus while I was watching this video. Although they are kind of thin and the frames are distracting so I may get a wider lens and see if that helps keep my eyes from getting tired.

Thank you for all the information. I'm surprised not a lot of eye doctors agree to this blue light filter information or even bother to learn about it. This year I got myself a Samsung Galaxy note 9 and notice I had severe head aches and even burning sensation in my eyes. It got to the point that I went one whole week not opening the window shades and no screen completely and my eyes got better. I did notice that if I use my computer, my eyes are fine and even watch TV is fine but the moment I look at my phone no more than 5 seconds, I can really feel the burning and the back of my eyes hurting. That's when I knew it's only my phone causing me so much pain. So I went to Stanton to get glasses and they said blue light filter glasses are just a marketing thing. I got a uv coat on my glasses but did not work so Stanton lied to me that it blocks all rays. I also mentioned to pediatric eye doctor about blue light since my son was there for his eye exam and he said the same thing that it's not a big deal. Yes it is a big deal and I'm glad you're bringing up this information. I bought myself blue light filter glasses (cyxus brand) from Amazon and they worked! But over time, this phone of mine still kills my eyes, and turned out that I'm not the only one with pain in my eyes. I'd say buy a different brand or use the down grade models such as Samsung J7. Again, thank you so much for your information!

Watch the video!! "Why you don't need blue light lenses: Hidden camera investigation (Marketplace)" this blue light l is basically fraud on a large scale and If you're still scared, here's a better idea than buying glasses: Android - Blue light filter iPhone - Night Shift PC - f.lux/Night Light Linux - Redshift Windows 10 has it built-in, an option called Night Light MacOS and iOS also have it built-in

Some lenses for blue light have a faint yellow look, ones that block more blue light (higher wavelengths ) have a darker yellow hue. Some brands that have patents on them can achieve higher blocking without a yellowing lens. Try to find something that blocks a higher amount of 455nm of light.

I see a lot of ads for Zinni Optical online, and I know that you can get non-prescription glasses through them with the blue light coating. I've looked into that, because at least you have a wide choice in frame that way.

@@DoctorEyeHealth I haven't, but I did bite the bullet last night and order a pair! Total cost with shipping was just under $40 with $16.95 of that being for the blue light coating. I have a question. I’m struggling to sleep and get headaches when out in the sun. I don’t need glasses, but the amount of time I spend on my phone iPad etc could be the reason. do you think it would be worth me investing in a pair of these due to the amount of time I spend on my phone? Thank you x Subscribed

Yes! I just read an article on ladies that work on the PC all day - they also don't need prescription eyewear. They used bluelight filtered glasses for a month and noticed great improvement Here's the link: www.bustle.com/articles/161548-we-tried-screen-protection-glasses-for-a-month-heres-what-happened I get most of my glasses from eyebuydrect. I was hoping to find one of these blue light filter testers like he used in this video... hmm.

Ise carbonshade red glasses for before sunrise and after sunset. The i switch to clear for daytime indoors. I go outside very frequently though without glasses on. I liek the orange glasses though for driving at night or early morning because I can see with them vs the red glasses which are too dark.

@DoctorEyeHealth
@DoctorEyeHealth 4 жыл бұрын
Photochromic lenses often only block 20% blue light indoors when not activate (maybe 32% if blue light antireflective is added. Dedicated blue light glasses for indoor use offer better protection. My favorite brand is called Blue Tech (but these are only sold in opticals I think. Otherwise I like both PIXEL and Gunnar glasses Check out this video for more info kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJizdpl_gth7r9E
