BrandonRico Simpson I'm very interested in the Sensel, but first I wanted to buy an M- Audio, 49 keys that also has a couple of faders, pads and pan controls. The model is M-Audio Oxygen (MKIV) I hope that model is a good one to start, since I have a smaller Midi.

FYI a third party developer created a Block Dashboard app for iOS so that the Lightpad can be customized over Bluetooth! Pretty great because my main complaint with the Lightpad is that there was no way to customize the surface with just an iPad if you want to use something other than NOISE.

Brandon, what do you think about the "Piano Overlay" for the Sensel Morph? I just ordered the Morph and am curious if that piano overlay is a sufficient tool to temporarily replace the need for getting something like the XKey Air. Also, do you know if the different overlays can be switched on the fly using Beatmaker 3 on the iPad? My example is: I'm performing live using the music production overlay using the 16 pads, then at the end of a loop I swap it out for the finger drumming one or the piano overlay, will it auto-switch to the right place (or can you program it to do this) and continue performing?

Judging by the video, he mentions that you can switch it out in realtime and the Sensel morph will just know which overlay is on it. I'm assuming there's no activating the different pad once you put it on and it just happens.

+Johnny Rodriguez yup the Morph will recognize the overlay switch in real time. Just like plugging in a new instrument. Perfect for Live performances and quick instrument switch.

How about the piano overlay for the sensel? I learned about the sensel after I got my xkey. I really wanted a wireless on the go setup and was disappointed that there weren’t any Bluetooth controllers with both keys and drums so I just got the the xkey and loved it. But then I discover the sensel and it’s perfect cus it has both keys/drums but now I don’t wanna let go of the xkey cus I love how the keys are and I can only have one, don’t have the money for 2 three hundred dollar controllers. But if the piano keyboard on the sensel is as good as the xkey it’ll be an easy decision to return the xkey. Have u tried the piano overlay? Does it hold up against the xkey?

Thank you. I can currently only recommend the xkey because I use it alot. I never liked the mushy feeling keys from Roli. Only the pads for me for now.

Hey nope none of the keys or overlays light up but the light strip at the top illuminates when notes are triggered. It's pretty cool

what i really wanted to hear about the xkey air is the battery life when not plugged in is it good ? how often do you have to charge it up ?

It's actually really good. Probably the best battery life on the list. It has an auto power off feature that helps save when you're not using it as well. I get through a full week and a half without charging

Hi Brandon. I would like to trigger patterns from different sequencers like Pure Acid, Rozetta, EGpulse, PolyStepArp. Some use note some cc-values and some prg change to change patterns. I made Mozaic scripts so that I can map pattern change via AU parameters in AUM. How ever i would like a physical bluetooth midi controler to change patterns while jamming in AUM. Do you think that Roli Blocks will be good for this? Is it fast and easy to create zones and color them so you can have a different setup for each track?

I love the xKey midi controller but live in Canada so it was a pain to get one as they don't ship here. Brandon, do you tweak the modulation and pitch bend on certain instruments. I've tried a basic lead and when playing it, I don't get the same pitch bends or modulations as you when you're rocking a solo. I don't need to know the exact settings, but just tell me if you need to set the modulation or pitch bend amounts or do you just know how to finesse it right off rip without tweaks?

+Amir I don't really do any pitch bend editing. Mostly in the way I use it. It's all my technique. Practice practice practice

Not sure I fully understand what you're asking but these controllers work just like any other Bluetooth device. No interface or no cords needed. Your looking very purple today ! Nice reviews. How durable are the Sensel overlays are they prone to splitting as they look quite flimsy?

😂 The mood lighting definitely pulled through today 😎 The silicone is pretty thick. It would take alot of effort and consistent bending to put any type of tear on the overlays. I wouldn't recommend bending or ripping because there are magnets inside that register with the actual controller.
