Agreed, this was very useful info, I will be ordering later today! Side note: when drilling in metal, high speeds generate friction which caused the metal (and the bit) to heat up. This causes cutting/ shearing ability of the bit to diminish quickly (more heat, slower cutting). When drilling metal you a medium to medium low drill speed, and when possible cutting oil helps too.

I believe about 2 years ago you advertised the pair of bolt on bucket skids and I'm very happy I ordered them. I have a gravel driveway and I didn't have a problem moving snow without getting a bucket of gravel. These are a must if you move snow. Great product.

Thanks for the heads-up on these. Our JD dealer said he could not 'order' the HD bucket with our tractor, and due to supply chain issues right now "you never know what they might come in with". We wanted the HD bucket, but I have a feeling we'll get the standard. 🤨 At least this gives me a solid option for reinforcement and some extra connection points.

Ju FabWorks made me a custom setup for my New Holland WorkMaster 25s base off the JD one with the receiver, 2 d-links and 2 hooks for the center of the bucket. I'm waiting on a 4 in 1 bucket from John Deere for my 3046 tractor. When it finally gets here, I'll check out the possibilities for these brackets. They look useful as all get out! I really appreciate the way you are always looking for new tractor accessories. I don't believe I would have ever come across these on my own. Your videos are always informative and helpful, sometimes even humorous. And discounts are nice, too. Thanks again!

I bought my 4 in 1 bucket when I bought my used 5205 back in 2017. The only thing I’ve added was 3 weld on hooks across the top of the bucket. Got them off eBay for about $10.00 set. Just be careful if you attempt to pick up something too heavy or clamp too hard you’ll spring the clam shell portion and have to find a solid tree or stump to push it back even. No big deal. I wouldn’t trade it for anything!!!

First thing I fixed when I got my 3320 back in 2008. The very first time I used the bucket it showed signs of tweaking. I didn't bend it but I could see it would eventually happen so I reinforced the top lip with a weld on angle iron piece to create a box effect. I worked for Cat and John Deere back in the day on the heavy stuff so light duty was something I had never dealt with. I told the sales guy when I bought my 3320 back in 2008 I didn't think it was going to last. It has proved me wrong. The little consumer grade tractors hold up really well if they are not abused. Good video, great presentation!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. two points I was thinking... block the bucket when it's hanging in the air and you have limbs close/under it... and use a brush for metal shavings, as a cloth retains them and you'll scratch whatever you wipe next (yeah... it happened to me). But that's my view from the cheap seats... you of course are there/know/have your reasons... much better than I do. Again... awesome video. Thanks for sharing. Best to you and yours.

Just a side note, Steel requires a slower cutting speed and wood a higher cutting speed. Hence the normal two setting on your drills. Yes the slow speed is good for using with fasteners but it is also great as you found out to drill into steel. Oh and Aluminum is same as or higher than wood.

Tips: -Buy a centering punch set. That’ll align to your hole. You should always center punch metal before drilling anyway. -Squirt oil on that drill bit to lengthen cutting edge life span. -Recommended to start with a smaller drill bit and work up to final size. My reaction: Wow JD really did go cheap on them. It’s great that these are bolt on, makes it easier for anyone to do. Personally I think I’d also weld them on too.

Courtney as suggestion. I have a personal issue with metal shaving especially with drilling. What I do is put a heavy duty magnet in a cheap plastic bag next to my work. When finished I slide the magnet over the shavings and after I pick them up, turn the bad inside out. Maybe that's why I like welding everything so much. 🤣🤣

I took a couple chain hooks and cut off the pin connection. I then welded them to a 2' x 1/4" plate, and gave it a nice orange paint job and bolted them on top of the bucket. I also took a D ring and welded it to a 4" x 4" x 1/4" plate and bolted that to the center of the back wall of the bucket. This way, if the cable or strap you have hood to it ever breaks, it will recoil to the center of the bucket instead of straight at the operator.

Great video!! I would suggest removing any chips between the parts before final installation though. I understand why you put in a bolt and then drilled (to maintain correct hole location) but there are some drill shavings/chips that would have been trapped between. On this application, probably doesn't make much difference (but I'm an aircraft mechanic and can't break my habits. Lol)

Another great video! You perform well on camera - you might want to try your hand at acting! 😊 When I ordered my JD3120 (10 years ago) I bought the HD bucket and had the dealer weld 2 tow hooks onto the top of the bucket. They have been a great addition. But, I have often wished I had a receiver on the top of the bucket so I could move some of my larger trailers around by driving forward. It's much easier to see where you are moving the trailer by looking forward as opposed to looking over your shoulder! This is exactly what I have thought about every time I back up a trailer using the tractor! I NEED one of those receiver options on the top of my bucket! Now... if only we could solve this Canada/US shipping issue! When did you say you were going to open a Canadian outlet?? 🙏🏻🙏🏻

The brackets look good. With the 1025r like I have I'm always concerned with adding weight to my front end loader because it will take away from the amount I can lift. These brackets might not weigh that much but occasionally I might need that ability to lift more especially with the small tractor. That's probably what Deere takes into consideration. The ability to remove the brackets would be cool. I don't think that most people have this concern though.
@GoodWorksTractors
@GoodWorksTractors 3 жыл бұрын
Understood. I don't think they are in the realm of being heavy enough to worry about, but that's just me. The brackets can be removed, but I'm thinking you mean a quick release? I think a strong, rigid connection is needed to maintain the strength when using any of the hooks or receiver. Thanks for watching!
@vinsonhelton7141
@vinsonhelton7141 3 жыл бұрын
I think that it would be a good idea to use these brackets on your bucket. And people that have a small tractor should get a quality fork attachment that they could use to lift more when needed. I've never had a problem lifting dirt or gravel with my 1025r. I know people that have more than one bucket. A heavy one and a light one. The brackets would definitely come in handy. And I have forks that are light and lift quite a bit.

Hi Courtney: Been tricking out the 2601 you forced me to buy and I wanted a 2" receiver on the bucket. Dealer had already welded on the hooks. I didn't want to spend a wad of $$ so I bought a very tough 2" step bumper hitch from Harbor Freight and drilled 1/2 holes (4) and bolted this hitch on the top of the bucket upside down. Safety chain holes make for great hook ups and it is a bargain at $29.00. Look up one at HF and see what you think. Thanks Rich Jennings

I have a receiver for the 3 point and use it to move a 5,000 lb boat into/out of my pole barn. It’s a tight fit through the overhead door and facing the trailer seems like it would be helpful. I wonder about the height of the receiver, though. Will the top edge of the bucket and the trailer’s hitch line up? The trailer is too heavy for me to lift. If they don’t naturally/easily line up, I’ll just stick with the 3 point. But, the hooks and D-rings? “No brainer”. Good vid. 🎯

Glad to hear it! Yeah, I should have mentioned that in the video, but he recommends a drop hitch with the receiver. So, something that will come down a few inches which would make it easier to attach to most trailers.

New sharp drill bit, low rpm, and use some cutting oil, or gear oil, regular oil, some sort of lubricant and you can drill through that stuff much easier. Don't ask me how I know. :) Also wish I would have seen this video before I mounted hooks on my bucket. These look great.

What my dad did to a 1025r is he put a 1/4 or 1/8 inch plate all the way across the top of the bucket and then welds hooks on it lined up with the 2 sides of the loader frame.

Put a little WD40 where your drilling. It lets it drill easier and the bit won't get as hot. Also take the drill out of torque mode and into drill mode. Those side brackets look nice to put on a series 1 and 2 even if you don't need to reinforcement.

Howdy, the resistance when pushing on a drill bit is the center web of the bit, no real cutting edge there. Use the finish drill to mark your location then drill with a smaller bit about diameter of the finish bit's center web. Shoot the small drill through first, (much easier to push), then run your finish bit through.

It'd probably work ok with a drop hitch but I'm leaning more toward the kind that attach to bottom of bucket.

when you drill your holes, use a little cutting fluid (oil, wd-40, spit...), it keeps the drill bit cool, and eases cutting. your bits will last a lot longer that way.

You can purchase cutting oil which imho works much better than WD-40, it lasts a long time and doesn’t take much at all.

We put a short piece of square tubing on the outside of the bucket. Then slip in two long 2" tubes as fork lift and fit a sheet of plywood on top. Now it is ready for a load of garden rubbish.

I like the plate ideas as I have been trying to figure out how to attach a couple hooks to my front loader bucket. My concern is I have a 4320 with a 4 in 0ne bucket and there are hyraulic hoses inside the top channel where the drilling could potenial nick or damage the hoses. What would you recommend? Plus I love to get a grapple! Great videos! Keep up the good work!

So looks like a great add on for my JD3032. They sell weld on or bolt on. I get the DIY for the video, but do you think the weld on version would be more durable, stronger, etc. that could justify the extra work and or cost.
@GoodWorksTractors
@GoodWorksTractors 3 жыл бұрын
I imagine the welded version would be a stronger connection in theory, so long as your weld is good, though I tend to think we won't find the breaking point of those bolts. But I would refer you to JU for that question, as he might have more insight as to why he made that version.

I like the concept, but I wish there was a way to make them Quick connect and disconnect. I have welded chain hooks on my JD bucket and I love them when I need them but otherwise hate them because they are always catching stuff like branches and roots and vines when I'm pushing into a brush pile.

Love your videos but my Green is Orange but would sure love an attachment with that 2" receiver. I bought one of those bolt on receivers for my Kubota BX 1880 bucket but it does tend to wiggle around sometimes when moving trailers into tight places.
@GoodWorksTractors
@GoodWorksTractors 3 жыл бұрын
The problem is that there's quite a few different Kubota buckets, so it would require many different models to make and stock. That's the nice thing about the JD buckets is that they are all constructed the same. However, we took a look a couple of buckets to start brainstorming a solution. Thanks for watching!

Harbor Freight has a transfer punch set to locate the holes that you need to drill in the bucket. Simply clamp the Item to bucket, select the appropriate sized center punch, punch, remove item, drill pilot holes, and finish with desired drill bit. This will preserve the paint or finish of the item you're installing.
