I gave 3.5 stars for "You've Reached Sam" NOT only because of Julie. I just felt like Sam is waaaayy to 2 dimensional in the story . I get it, when she was chatting with him, Sam is ambiguous. But in the BEFORE chapter. He felt to perfect and I just went ehhhhhh I mostly like the side character throughout the book

I totally agree with you. I loved the way Julie was written and the way her grief was portrayed but I had trouble feeling it to the extent that I wanted to because I didn't really feel the attachment to Sam that I would want

I want to read Keeper of the Night so bad. I love reading about reapers and I have made a death section on my bookshelf and one of those sub sections is reaper. However, I still need to finish two more series books then I will able to buy first books of series again. Station Eleven is also one of my favourites of all time. I absolutely adored it, the way it was written, the depth to the characters. It was just so well crafted. I didn't find many favourites this year I am sad to say. It has been a very meh reading year, but one I did find was Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke which is a horror novella told through emails.

If you want a book to do with Japan, the trilogy 'the name of the blade' by Zoe Mariott is a good one. Although not set in Japan but mostly in the USA, the main character is of Japanese origins and it is centred around Japanese mythology.

My favorite read of 2021, "Tonight We Rule The World," talks about a guy's perspective on being sexually assaulted and dealing with the trauma. It is the only book on record to make me cry, and I highly recommend it. Also, it is one of the best representatives of teenagers I have seen in novels in a while.

I read You’ve Reached Sam and sadly it was a 3 star just okay book for me. I did like how it dealt with grief though, and how Julie was treated throughout made me so angry! My best read was probably It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. Hands down 5 stars, amazing and emotional read. 😊
