I definitely identify with hating something more just because people tell you you're wrong. I had the same with the Little Prince and honestly I don't think the book is actually that bad (I just felt kind of meh about it at the beginning) but everyone telling me how I'm just too stupid to understand the greatness of this book properly just made me hate it so much more. 😄

21:09 Post-apocalyptic and fantasy and sci-fi = The Book of the New Sun. A very literary and gorgeously written book, arguably the most beautifully written sci-fi. It's a challenging one though that makes you work for it but being made for rereads it can be a very rewarding experience. That said, on the flip-side, for some it can come off downright boring if you don't buy into it early on, but definitely worth a try.

I'm not sure if it is available in Canada but you should check out the Hoopla app. It is similar to Overdrive and LIbby except it's a virtual library so no waiting lists. Have you read trilogy "The Lotus War" by Jay Kristoff? So far it's the only thing I read by him ("Nevernight" is already waiting on my shelf) and I highly highly recommend it! One of the best books of my 2018. It's considered YA, but I cannot completely agree.

@@Minniechii it is religious but Russell did brilliant thing by using the Jesuit order because they are genuinely the most skeptical and down-to-earth orders of the Church. So you won't be sorry about the emphasis placed on religion in the book.
