Hahahaha I do have a running theory that it mostly just devastates those who are unlucky to have had that experience. Cause were TRIGGGGGGGERED (and therefore hooked). I would take feeling mid about it as a sign of being well-adjusted 😂

I truly feel you can go wrong with any of her books! If you want some yummy short stories that leave this sticky residue without your even noticing, go for Interpreter of Maladies. If you're wanting to sink into a lot of Lahiri at once, I'd go gor Namesake! Whereabouts definitely feels like a departure, diff from her other books, but I think those are great places to start!
