@MarriageKidsandMoney9 ай бұрын
If a company gives something away for free, they eventually have to find a way to make money from that product or service. For example, the videos you watch here are free. But they cost money to make. To recoup those costs, we hope that we make money from the ads you watch beforehand or if you decide to use our affiliate links from these budget apps.
@livingsimpleandfun98128 ай бұрын
I agree, and I have private mail for this reason, but its $2 a month. maybe its because I am not a big money maker, but the problem isnt that the product is paid, its that everything these days wants to cost over $5 a piece and the costs add up. So they need more reasonably priced options, maybe some product that focuses on the essentials. $5 a month or preferably less.

Some questions about Monarch: 1. Since Monarch was founded by people who worked at Mint, will they make the same mistakes with Monarch in how they let Intuit purchase Mint? 2. Mint had connectivity issues with Fidelity. Will Monarch have connection issues with Fidelity too? Also, what are your thoughts on the Fidelity Full View app? And are there any "legacy" banking/investing/financial service alternatives to Mint instead of only the services that are either startups or have been around for only a decade?
@MarriageKidsandMoney8 ай бұрын
Great questions! 1. I have no idea. I hope not. Since they are charging for their service, hopefully, it will be a profitable and helpful business model for them. That's where Mint failed in my opinion. They definitely had the helpful part, but not the profitable part. 2. According to Monarch, they currently do connect with Fidelity through Finicity -- help.monarchmoney.com/hc/en-us/articles/20209369365140-Connecting-with-Fidelity As for alternatives that aren't new start ups ... check out YNAB. I just use a simple spreadsheet to track my budget. It works great once you take the 40 minutes or so to set it. Also, it doesn’t take much time to input the data - I do it weekly. I agree, however it can help save money in the long run since the way we budget and manage our money is what makes the biggest difference - more than the amount we make even, to a certain extent. It can save a lot of people from their finances being a hot mess and forgetting to pay bills or accidentally overdrawing their bank account and getting hit with late fees and overdraft fees. I used to have a simple system with balancing a checkbook and wrote all the bills due (along with due dates, amounts, dates paid, etc.) all in columns I made. It was easy and effective. Now keeping track is harder due to more monthly subscriptions for things like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, phone add-ons, BUDGETING APPS lol, etc. All that + having ADHD = 🤯😵💫😖😩 I need something with organization or my finances and bills are all jumbled up and a total hot mess.

ha! The truth. I'll pay $10 per month to save myself hours and hours of my time manually adding transactions. Automation rocks

I love that the apps feed my transactions so I don’t have to manual enter. My issue with the apps I’ve tried is the budgeting. I budget bi-weekly based on our pay cycles. My spending and food budget re-sets bi-weekly. Most of these apps force the monthly budget which throws me off and it doesn’t allow editing of the budget cycle. Any app that you would recommend?

I had the same issue when looking for a budget app, I was using Isavemoney but they put adds on the basic version now and it gets annoying

I know this is old but also interested if you’ve found something? I’m using PocketSmith and I honestly love the features and it honors your budget periods by category. I have some categories on weekly payments, some biweekly, others monthly when I view my budget it shows each categories progress within that budget period. A bit of a steep learning curve. Biggest downside for me is the app. Web version is packed full of features i love but the app has very limited functionality
