Best Budget Automatic GMT Watch (Pagani Design 1662 GMT Coke Review 2020)

So I have had my hands on the Pagani Design GMT 1662 Coke for a good 3-4 weeks now and feel its now the right time to stick up my review. Overall a watch i really do like even if it does have some little issues. Sit down and have a watch ;)
This watch is based around the Pagani Design 1651 which i have also reviews and liked. They have replaced the NH35 movement with a DG5833GMT. There is a few issues such as the bracelet has some stiff links and the clasp is also very stiff. The bezel action is also an area which i think could be imporved. However i do think this differs from watch to watch and is more a QC issue.

I just got this from Amazon £99.99p get delivered today before 10pm I can't wait i could have got it for a few quid less but not wanting to wait i got next day Amazon and it is covered for 12 months so i need this watch, i got two Vostok watches one in need of cleaning and the other i was ripped off supposed to be Automatic but not, so Amazon and now this very same one you gave, First thing i will take all the screws out the strap and oil them to stop the problem of strap falling apart, then bring the sharp lugs down to a better fit to get a more comfortable wearing experience, i am glad i found your video today plus the fact that you are a fellow Geordie now that's fantastic, i subscribed and hit the bell.

I have several Pagani Design watches and I really like them. Two of them are homages to th Tudor Pelagos (one blue and the other red). These watches are getting better and better!

Just got mine and it's a lot better than that one you got, I'm not seeing any of the problems you have it has ceramic bezel 120 click no slop, the GMF hand moves nice along with the date and the bracelet is all good no slack screws I did take them all out cleaned and oiled them tightened them and feel safe, I will shorting the bracelet and use it for a bit to see how it handles my lifestyle

Great video mate. I still don't really get all the hype around this watch especially given the price increase over the Parnis. I was debating getting one, but think I'll stick with my Parnis to be honest.

Parnis is just as good of a watch, here the newer ones (newer then my parnis) are better then the old ones

I just bought that watch. They had problems using the name Pagani and now they are branded Pagrne (what a silly name). I quite liked what I got for the price. I'm not a diver and don't care about the GMT feature. I just wanted a watch that looks good and that's what I git. Thanks for the review. P.S. the clasp sucks.

Great review - thank you Kyle. When you go to mod this one be careful as the pinion is made out of paste in this movement - I snapped it installing the the second hand and the QC is on that movement is sketchy, all of the ones I have seen had low amplitude out of the box. If you do a basic service and are careful you should be good 👍

Own a root beer Rolex GMT from the mid 80's (Firefox) - not GMT II so it has plastic crystal and 24hr hand does not move independently - that's 18k and stainless w/jubilee bracelet. Recently had to have total repair and new dial/hands at considerable expense due to water damage. Looks GREAT but I'll just be using it for special occasions. Saw your vid and decided to throw for the Coke Pagani, again, just for fun!! Could have bought a basket full of them for what I paid to have the Rolex repaired. Looking forward to having fun with this one....

Thanks :) It is a shame however i do think the aluminium do have warmer tones and are sharper so personally don't mind. However is easier to damage.

Parnis has the "boxy" clasp that on a smaller wrist can look awkward. Also note that these watches can vary considerably in quality. I've been lucky with my Parnis and Paganis, but as this reviewer says, quality can be "luck of the draw." Still, I like the idea of saving $24 grand!

Pagani are really busy. A lot of new colors for the 1651 and have you seen the 1661? A 1651 with Subby Bezel instead of the YM.

Great video Kyle, very fair assessment mate. I was in two minds but I think I'll order one. I've got one of their 1649s on the way and the bezel on that one is absolutely shocking, I'd appreciate any tips on fixing it if you know any. Got to say that GMT looks like it wears better at 40mm. Shame it's not a ceramic bezel but hey, for the price. Cheers mate.

Got one coming in the mail. Pepsi bezel. Don't care about the bracelet because it's going on a leather strap as soon as it comes in (Pepsi diver on a light tan strap looks amazing, IMHO). Chose this over the Parnis because of the water resistance rating. 30m water resistance may be OK for a dress watch, but on something that styles itself after dive watches it feels like a bad joke.

Coke bezel doesn’t do anything for me but plenty of choices from pagani and parnis to keep everyone happy but quality control very hit or miss with these 2 brands I’ve got a San Martin tiger shark and it’s very very good 👍

Basically the same as the Yachtmaster version with a subby bezel insert. Maybe that's why it turned up on another aliexpress store other than the Pagani official one as it's just a basic mod.

I've found that anytime a watch in this price range has red on its bezel, it is aluminum. Amazon does document this correctly... the bezel varieties other than red are ceramic, but the Coke is aluminum. I think I read somewhere that red ceramic bezels are much more expensive to produce, so the budget brands don't bother.

You can avoid that GMT hand "jumping" when pushing the crown in by slightly rotating it the other way (forwards) after setting it. There's a little play in the crown there, before it starts affecting the date wheel. If you get the GMT hand correct and then just ever so slightly move the crown forward (a mm or two?), the GMT hand will not jump when you press in.

Have the batman, cyclops is aligned OK, bezel a fraction off. Biggest disappointment the bracelet. The end links are a fraction to big, resulting in not only the gaps you are experiencing, but also the springbar can't go in the lughole. So it's attached on each side with only one end of the springbar in the hole, other end is wobbling about. Got it on a NATO now, see if I can file off a bit of the end links for a better fit...

Do you know if there are any aftermarket bezels and/or bezel inserts that fit this watch? Could be a good base to put together an explorer II inspired watch if a ss bezel insert was available, fit a white dial and new hands with decent lume, job done 😎

10:54 - I think you meant to say the Pagani? The red/black border on the bezel insert doesn't properly bisect the 18, whereas the Batman doesn't properly bisect the 6.

you take a hammer, and beat the devil out of it

Best way is get a thin blade and slip it between the crystal and the insert. Then carefully go around easing it up. Crystal you can't hurt but the insert can crack but take yoru time and you will be fine.

Honestly I think it’s hit or miss with parnis etc I’ve had 3 gmt only one is still functional after a full 12 months so i think you’d be lucky trust me spend more money buy a proper 1200 watch don’t buy parnis or pagani buy Swiss German etc well made reliable

Same.... stopped working after 2 weeks.. The GMT-s have chineese movement which are crap. Normal Paganis which come with NH35A movement are great. No issue with those.
