I would add the VW Jetta GLI to the list. My son bought a 2023 with the DSG for $31,000 and with 20K miles on it now he loves it. Black with the Black package it is the best looking Jetta of this generation that I’ve seen. To me it feels like a long wheelbase GTI without the sketchy Haptic Touch controls.

@@Diego-oy6en I agree. When I think of "value," I'm usually thinking of essentials instead of upgrades. I'm currently considering a Forester Premium. It's got all the basic features at the best price point. I view it as a better value than Crosstrek because for around the same price it's more capable (size-wise), has the power driver's seat, pano roof, and defaults to the 182HP engine (which should be the base engine for Impreza and Crosstrek as welll. I'm sure the RS benefits from the added power, but to me it's over-styled, pretending to be a hot hatch when it's still a dad car.)

Currently, most of these cars are available at MSRP in Indiana (I specifically mention which ones are not or hard to find at sticker, like the Maverick). I'm thinking about the CR-V or the HR-V, I'm 17 and I'm saving and I'll have around 20,000 by time I'm 18. I just want something reliable and at the same time I don't really WANT a smaller car, it just doesn't make sense to me, spending 25K for a car when I can spend 30K-35K on a SUV that has more space and that has better ground clearance.
@Realistick
@Realistick 7 ай бұрын
I’d recommend the CR-V if you’re willing to spend 35k but if you don’t need a big backseat, the Mazda CX-5 select is 30k and comes with similar features to an EX CRV awd! I’d go HR-V if you don’t mind it being a bit lethargic, it’s a great value

Where I live in Québec we get 5 months with snow and some bad roads so Subaru is incredibly popular. That being said I drive a CX-30. Great on great roads but it's losing its charm on bad roads. which we have a lot. (And the visibility is AWFULL). That and snow. I ride it for free so I don't mind... I would bet that Subaru is gonna sell a crazy amount of imprezas 2024 in the belle province. More than in their wildest dreams. If they can keep up with the demand.

@@RealistickHow about from the compact to midsize suv, I'm like you where I don't like soo much bolstering. I'm looking for a reliable fun car/suv that can fit me but I don't need a huge family vehicle. 2 row is fine with me. I also don't care for back seat leg room long as I can fit in the front comfortably.
@Realistick

@@tulgaadc Subaru Outback then, headroom isn’t crazy good and itself not too wide if I remember correctly but the Limited/touring get a seat extender that gives you stellar thigh support! Probably the best seats in the price point. A Honda CR-V is another good option from what Ive tested but they’ve gotten quite pricey.

Really want a Kia K5, but I’m really hesistant to buy one as the entire reason I’m in the market for a new car is because my 2015 Sonata is burning oil like crazy and chipping paint all over at 89k miles. Hope someone can help assure me on the reliability of the K5 compared to old Kia’s/Hyundais.

I will not stand for the Outback and Crosstrek being left off this list /s Great list and you are right, Subaru has a leg up for not having "as many" bad dealers as opposed to other manufacturers.

I couldn't give Subaru the sweep! I think the Crosstrek and Outback are better but if forced to choose which of the three offers the best value proposition, the Forester takes it for me. The subie dealers are the real winners though, I drove by a honda dealer here in indiana and was grossed out by the markups on EVERY car.

How sad it is when $4000 is the top price range for budget cars. Why greedy dealers aren’t brought to book by manufacturers is beyond me. Case in point I was looking at a 2023 dodge charger king Daytona that the MSRP price was 102,000, the dealer add an addendum price of 72000 !!! That is robbery

Pay cash for a car and do not finance. A brand new car depreciates by 10% of more as soon as it is driven off the dealers lot. Save your money and purchase a used vehicle around 3-5 years old and invest the money that you would have wasted on car payments.
@Realistick
@Realistick 7 ай бұрын
Not bad advice or anything but It’s been complicated lately and it largely depends on the car you’re buying. lately, used prices have been so bad that buying new actually makes more sense than lightly used cars due to the warranties and free maintenance with some models. The interest kills people right now but a lot of people can’t afford a decent car without financing. Weird times right now.
