Hi PI, i think you're right. The other difference I found out afterwards (or at least I missed when reading about it) is it has an acrylic glass rather than a mineral crystal. I couldn't tell the difference, however I guess that's how they've managed to keep the price low, and also why they couldn't call it a GShock. Still a great watch for sure

Got the dark green, extra long strap version of this today. It cost me £23 from Creation Watch in Singapore and took exactly 15 days to get here. I can’t believe the quality of this for the price. I have an 8 3/4 inch wrist and not many watches fit me properly out of the box but this one does. It looks fantastic and will be my tool watch for the foreseeable future. Thanks for the review mate, it was one of the reasons why I bought this.

What caught my attention was the 10 YEAR BATTERY! Got tired of haveing to change the batteries on my other watches that only lasted 1 - 2 years. The year was set at 2010 when I got it from Amazon two months ago 10/10/2020, the watch is still ticking!!! Read the reviews and one guy said his had 13years on it and it was still going strong. I like the BIG NR. and the positive display. As for the G-SHOCK 200mt. I don´t plan on any deep sea diving and for those who do I believe this AE1500 can handle the job. For the price I would not worry about it as you can buy 2 x AE1500s for the price of a G-SHOCK. A watches function is to keep time regardless of the price.

I have the normal Casio AE 1500 and the negative display AE1500. The negative display one makes me look at the watch all the time. What a beautiful watch this is. I get a lot of great complements from people when I wear this one. Awesome review.

Love it. I agree with your assessment. Found it somewhat at random while looking for a cheap watch to wear while biking, working out, etc. I bought the negative face originally, though I ended up exchanging it for the black text on gray face version, which I found significantly easier to read at a glance while working out. They are both wonderful values, but the negative face is harder to read in low light, even with the amber light. It’s such a treat to have numerals that large.

Agreed Bradley. It's a shame that Casio don't have more watches with the larger digits like this. It seems strange that this is one of the few that's easy to read at a glance. They have exercise specific models with digits half the size as these. Somebody need to take a real look back on this watch for a possible future update... or at least promote it more at Casio. @@o-SPECTRE-o Yes, agreed. For me, this is a watch I only wear when active (biking, swimming), so visibility is crucial. I originally bought the negative version, but exchanged it for the normal LCD version because it was so much easier to read. I like the monochrome aspect of the negative version and the lack of red, etc, but ultimately, it’s harder to read at an angle.

Undoubtedly an excellent value and well featured watch. I bought it because of the brilliant readability. One of the few watches that I can see without my reading glasses. I see that the Casio "Marlin" MDV 106 has been suggested but as a daily beater I don't thing that Addiesdive Quartz at around £35 can be bettered.

It's nice that Casio still produces watches that are inexpensive and extremely useful and durable. Such as AE-1500. I once had a DW-290 watch, which served me without failure for over 12 years. And it served not only for everyday use, but also during many extreme adventures. It wasn't a g-shock, it didn't have its price, but it had character and durability. I remember him VERY fondly.

Greed. They could have easily ditched the lower value watches and pushed for a higher value brand. Having those uber un-obtainable all metal Gs is great, but still being able to pick up a watch for less than £40 that will last a life time is amazing

I have this watch. It is very big but does not wear big. It is just heavy enough to feel solid without being heavy. Also, it is big on my 6.5-inch wrist, but I don't feel it is too much.

I liked your video! One thing that could be added to this video is that this watch doesn't have shock resist. The 10 bar water resistant difference doesn't really bother me since I will never dive that deep (45-50ft was the deepest I have ever gone) but the absence of shock resist hurts this watch. I play various sports and a watch having the shock resist is an added comfort. I probably will never slam a Casio hard enough to need it but I like the thought of it being there. I do think this would be a cool watch for the gym, cycling or running. Other people mentioned it but the design with the large face and numerals is OP. Anyway thanks for making this video and letting people know about this cool watch.

I think shock resistance only applies to automatic and mechanical watches. Quartz is usually only a module with a battery that sends electric pulse so it should be highly resistant to shocks. I could be wrong. Cheers.

How do you change the battery in the AE-1500 without breaking the metal bracket holding it in place?

Hi, I'm not too sure I'm afraid. I think you need to remove the straps first and then remove the screws either side of them. I think that then gives you access to the back plate to get to the battery. Hope that helps

100% agree. The GA-2000 is amazing for that, you can put on which ever straps you prefer. I love that watch as it's incredibly comfy to wear for that reason. You might prefer that more

Hi, yes definitely. It's not as tough as a GShock on paper as it's glass isn't as strong and it's only 100m water resistant, however I've seen people who own these and put them through the mill and they're still ticking.

The water resistance is not the main reason for a G-Shock being a G-Shock.... The difference is on the module inside the casing.... the module on a G-Shock has a rubber bumper if you will on it.... a normal Casio module does not have this rubber bumper.... that is the main difference.... it really has nothing to do with water resistance.... it has to do with protecting the watch against drops and bumps

Seriously? If you're on Amazon, log into the app and change the location to the UK. Amazon will allow you to buy from any region and ship it to you. It's not even a weird hack, they tried to tell everybody about it but it flew under the radar. When you get to the basket to pay, it'll tell you if there's any import duties. You won't believe how much money I save buying from around the world. Often, shipping is only £5 to 7. Everyone should be doing it more 😆
