I don't know what you are using an impact tool for but my only concern is in reverse. Removing a rusted on bolt. Max in reverse. Another is removing tires for service. 8 lugs each. 64 cycles without going dead on one charge.

I have both the 1/2" and 3/8" Craftsman impacts. I'm convinced the Craftsman 3/8 impact (CMCF910B) is literally one of their 1/4 impacts (CMCF810B) with a different anvil and gearing. I didn't take the impact mech apart, but the casing, switch, and motor look identical.
@Nater-zq5yh
@Nater-zq5yh Жыл бұрын
It is, the USA stickered 1/4 uses the same rating as the 3/8 but only makes 125 ftlbs due to losses not having an anvil. The other 1/4 drivers uses the same exact parts but aren’t assembled in the USA so they get the accurate 125 rating. It seems they took the 3/8 case and slapped in a bit driver but forgot to retest the torque, hence why if you go to TTCs review of it it did poorly.

It won’t work that way. The electronics inside are completely different, with the battery powered unit incorporating a much more advanced speed controller, rather than a simpler 120 volt variable resistor. Higher voltage makes it easier, oddly enough. Since it’s so much more efficient.

Which Kobalt was coming back more? 24v or XTR vs which Craftsman? 20v or regular
@TBO207
@TBO207 2 жыл бұрын
@@jonathangarzon2798 all of the xtr didn't seem to have a very long lifespan, I seen like 2 or 3 Craftsman's returned compared to something like 20 kobalts, mostly xtr and I think that's cause they didn't use very good metalergy in the main shaft the hammers are attached to in the impacts, the kobalts batteries however seem to be superior in amp hours and output. They both have their drawbacks but for reliability from what I've seen craftsman 24v seems to be pretty hardy for any diy, even some local contractors have built an arsenal of Craftsman tools as backups cause they're so easily accessible and if something breaks it's only a ride to Lowe's to walk out with a new one

I think SBD is trying to upsell Big Yellow, bigger drive size, and new 12v line,, possibly due profit margins. Craftsman is at the bottom of SBD good, better, best line up. I'm not a tool guy, I needed a few power tools for my first home, almost got a DeWalt drill/impact combo at HD for $140 because I know the brand from previous jobs. Stumbled on a Hart set at Walmart with an impact, drill, flashlight, reciprocating saw, hand vac, charger and (2x) 1.5ah batteries for $120. Paid an extra $50 for an angle grinder with a 4ah battery. I just moved in a few days ago, only used the drill and impact so far but I think I got my money's worth from those two alone. I will say that I naively thought I was getting the brushless set because the tools were in a brushless display but I'm not at all upset for what I got at the price point.

It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

I've been running v20 craftsman tools in a increasingly professional setting for about two and a half years now. When time comes to replace them I'll go with Milwaukee of Makita, but otherwise I have had absolutely no real problems beating on this generations craftsman's. the only tool I've ever not been super happy with was my cordless angle grinder which kills the smaller batteries quickly with sustained use. But the bottom line is they DO work and they work serviceably and if you know how to use your tools you wont have a quality of work gap with them, maybe ease of use and a minor speed advantage; bu they will do quality work.

I purchased the Craftsman on the torque channels recommendation. I had to remove some over torqued lug nuts from a Ford Ranger the other day. A tire shop torqued one side of the truck near 200 lbs about 180 to 190 foot pounds. The other side they torqued to about 40 lb. An established tire shop where I live. Anyway, to make a long story short the Craftsman wouldn't touch the over torqued lug nuts. I've got a pretty long half inch torque wrench that I leaned on fairly heavy and I got them off. But I was pretty disappointed in the Craftsman. I was using a 4 amp battery. So far the Craftsman seems like a total waste of money. It's been defeated several times on Nuts and Bolts below 200 lb

I’ve got the Ridgid with the 4ah battery and I got it for breaking the lugs off my F150. Does it without thinking about it. It also backed out huge bolts on my subframe and the suspension components without thinking about it. Love it for the price.

I've been watching a lot of power tool videos lately, and I've seen the craftsman be a great bang for the buck. It's replaced porter cable as the 2nd BnD brand, just behind Dewalt- and not by a whole lot. Probably the best tools on a budget right now. Used to be Ryobi, not anymore.

I have the Craftsman CMCF921 and CMCF940 and both work great. The 940 is a bit much for most of what I do but I haven't had any issues wjrh the 921, it's safe with a 2ah, great with a 4ah, and a beast with a 6ah.

I'm new to tools but I was advised that it would make my life a lot easier because I was going to start working on suspension components on my vehicle. parts like the coils, struts, control arms, upper and lower, things like that. I'm trying to learn how much tool I really need for these. They're on just cars and mid sized suv's. Not anything on a large truck. not yet anyway. Looking up things on 3/8's or 1/2's. Mid torque, high torque. Not entirely sure. Hopefully I can learn what I need to best fit my needs. hopefully without breaking the bank. Been watching all your videos for the past few days.

Yeah, freshly charged batteries get a boost from surface voltage. When racing electric cars (back in the days before li-po) we’d bring a charge boost pack to the starting line for that reason, taking it off at the last second we were allowed. Good video and test. 5 people didn’t like the lab results, lol.

The Ridgid one in this video (485 ft.lbs max torque)is at $149 with (1) 4 amp battery, and (1) charger, until 5/1/22. There's also, (2) 4 amp batteries + charger for $99. And there's the 225ft. Version with one 4 amp battery (no charger) $149. Picked up all 3 😂

That Mid Trq with 4ah bat has been sold out for weeks. That 4ah is the standard 4ah, not a Max Output bat, which means it does not have the 2 extra terminals for an Octane tool. Still a great deal. I'd like to see a test comparison of a standard 4ah with a Max 4ah with the mid trq to fully understand what the actual difference. The trq test channel already tested the mid trq with a small 2ah standard bat and the Octane3ah with the better cells. If you know of a test like that please provide a link. Thanks!

Fresh impacts perform different straight out of the box. In carpentry work they will shear screws off for the first couple days & then they stop doing that at least that is how Dewalt ones have performed they do last forever though.

I'd like to see how the Sears C3 19.2v impact wrench stacks up compared to this Craftsman V20 model and the rest you have tested. Since Sears still uses the Craftsman name and those power tools are made by TTI vice Stanley Black and Decker, it'd be interesting to see how they stack up against one another. Thanks.

So, I have both the C3 brushed mid torque(they had a high torque thats almost identical to the rigid) and the v20 brushless mid torque, and I feel like it hits harder than the v20, but the v20 seems to be faster in removing bolts.

Can you take a mid range impact wrench with the “most powerful battery” (8ah or 10ah battery) and compare that to a top of the line impact wrench with the smallest battery? (1.3ah or 1.5ah) I have the Dewalt mid range impact and used 2ah battery and felt it was underperforming. I picked up a 5ah battery and felt a night and day difference.

Great video review. I was torn between the Ryobi P262 and the Rigid R86011b. Right now, HD has the Ryobi P262K1 kit (with charger and one 4 ah battery for $189, and the Ridgid for $179 - for two tools (where the 2nd 'tool' choice can be the battery kit - AC87024SB, which includes the charger and two batteries( one 4 ah, and one 2 ah). The ryobi shows a slight advantage in power, with actual torque, per your test of 442 ft/lbs. But, the Ridgid is close with actual torque of 394 ft/lbs. (Since the Craftsman tested at 343 ft/lbs, and was enough to remove lug nuts from an F150, that means either the Ryobi or Ridgid would meet my primary needs). If not for the fact that the Ridgid comes with a lifetime service agreement, which include free replacement batteries, I would take the Ryobi, at about the same price and an extra 50 ft.lbs of torque, with their 3 year warranty. Which one would anyone here get given this choice?

You guys need to come up with an impact wrench "obstacle course". I recently did front and rear springs and dampers (and ran the spring compressor) on a car with the M12 Brushless with single charge on the teeny (2aH) Milwaukee M12 battery. I was dumbfounded at all the places it fits and funny "contortions" in which i could run it..... and it just kept chugging.

I can't understand why anyone would buy into SBD's Craftsman tools when they're all basically Dewalts or Porter Cables just painted red and using a battery that is incompatible with the other two. I'm betting that they rated it lower on the box in the hopes no one would notice and people would think the more expensive yellow one was more powerful. In the end, engineering a new tool would be expensive.

Porter Cable is pretty much dead. Craftsman and DeWalt are directed to different segments. I can see Craftsman appealing to some advance DIYer or some money conscious buyer that hasn't settled on an existing cordless platform

This is a good series and/or side trek you have going on. With Rigid being more of a mid-ish level brand, maybe go into a few more of those next. Off the top of my head: New Skil, Kobalt, Metabo HPT and the like. You could also do a series on the amazon brands. When everything comes together financially of course. These comment sections tend to grow rife with "Dance for me monkey!" demands.
