Best (Budget) MIG Welder for RUST Repair? PT.1 YesWelder review

Great review, well done! Looking forward on your trying out the lift tig feature of this machine. I have several HF tig units and I hear that the lift tig on this machine is not too bad so would like to see what your opinion is. Keep up the good work!

I would definitely miss having wire speed control as I can’t even run below 0.030”. Yes, older C10 and others are more 18 gauge metal. But mine came new in 1984. It shows 150 amps, 23 volts and 60% duty cycle. It takes a 14” spool and has pulse time off and weld time on. On its own cart but the transformer is a big as a Honda Civic engine. I don’t know about these little rigs but they are showing up everywhere. I do weld sheet metal and get burn-thru on the thin rusty but corners. I just heard yesterday that you always cut round patch corners as the heat has no place to go. Good demo, I would turn heat higher to get flatter weld. Welding is one of those topics that brings everyone out! Have a good one! Oh, mine says 1/2” max and have welded 3/8 bar on axle tubes. One pass.

Im pretty impressed with this little welder, i have a millermatic 185 that I got new back in 1995 and its big and heavy compared to this little on. As for the corners I've also heard to round the corners, but I never do. Like you said I like to weld ot hot so its gonna burn the corners in anyway lol, thanks for the comment 👍

@@ACDesignsGarage You have to try it once on a panel. I saw a “TOH” episode where Tommy made a patch, rounder the corner, then scribe the panel to make patch fit. Drill corners to fit radius, cut out damage then fit patch. In welding it has no buildup in heat on rounds as a square does. Huge difference. On metal, my favorite tool is the “Flange / hole punch”. It off-sets the metal to make a patch fit flush, plus, flanged offsets add rigidity into the panel to make it easy to work/weld/fill the weld with Dynaglass filler to seal water from pinholes in welds. Plastic filler is 1/16th” at best and patch is rigid. I works nice! Hole punch works for plug welds, and if loosened it can fit any angle as it rotates.

I have this same welder. It was listed as a lift tig welder but the front of the machine says scratch tig. Can you do a review of the tig welding with this machine. I’m not sure what tig torch to buy. I have never tig welded but want to try it out.

I haven't tried the tig setup yet, ill order a torch setup and do ya a video, it will be a few weeks before I can get to it. Make sure to subscribe so you'll know when I load it, ill do some research and let ya know what torch youll need.

Just checked out the tig setup for the 205ds calls for a wp 17v 35 torch setup
