Hello everyone!
Today we are going to take a look at a very cool, relatively easy to use, and affordable tool/knife sharpener. This is the Corona sharpener, typically used for sharpening gardening tools, though it can be used for any kind of blade. In this video, I take a knife that is extremely dull and sharpen it to a respectable edge! It only took around 5 minutes or so, and the results are awesome! Try it yourself! Again, I would recommend learning on less expensive blades, as there is a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the feel for it, it is actually pretty easy! In the video, I do a few passes on a leather strop with honing compound, you could do the same, but you don't have to.

Thanks! I love the “Cleaver” style blades. Unfortunately I think they no longer make this model anymore, a real shame, but I bought 2 haha

I have one of these but it’s called a speedy sharp. Works really good. U still need a strop to get that finishing touch. But having this in my bush bag has saved me many times. I think it works great but like u said technique is crucial.

Wish you could show a better angle so I can see if you're using the "flat" part of the sharpener or the "90 degree" angle part of the sharpener. Thank you for this tutorial as it did help somewhat.
@kismitscorner
@kismitscorner 19 күн бұрын
I am using the 90 degree part, using the flat would not accomplish much, you want to be scraping material away. Hope this helps further! Sorry for the bad camera work and thanks for watching!

@kismitscorner So I've been practicing, and I can actually hear the difference when I use the angle and not the flat. Thank you so much. This was incredibly helpful 😊

Great Video ! Remember with toothy edges it’s the blade Geometry that makes those cuts a lot of other knives will not give the results you got !

I love these sharpeners. I have a few of them included in various kits and tool bags. They put a nice working edge on blades if one knows what they’re doing. To get rid of that toothy edge, I like to finish up wit a few passes on a honing steel or ceramic rod.
@kismitscorner
@kismitscorner Жыл бұрын
They are great! I was really pleasantly surprised how good they were. I will have to get a honing rod sometime. Thanks for watching!

If you put some green compound on the strop and use a light touch, you can get the edge hair popping sharp.

I recommend strongly that you turn the edge away from you (flip the knife in your holding hand) and then proceed to scape away the steel to create an edge. By facing the edge as you do, you could slip and cut the @#$! out of your fingers. I like these carbide tips for sharpening, especially kitchen knives which are thinner usually. Nice pocket knife!
@kismitscorner
@kismitscorner Жыл бұрын
That is probably a lot safer! To be fair though, I wasn't using much pressure at all, more scraping than anything, but safety is important! Thanks for watching!

The safe way to use the tool. Blade and Sharpener should face in opposite directions. There are several videos instructing the technique. Safety Sharp and Corona are virtually the same
