One more bump for the LT Wright is the spine throws sparks much better on a fire steel. Both work but the GNS is better in that area.

Till you mess both of them up using the fire steels and have to fix them. Remarkably now there both the same...rather easy to put that LT sharp (Burred) spine on a blade.

I own both of these knives and IMO the LT Wright GNS is hands down the better knife for everything Bushcraft AND camp.

Two great knives, I have a Bark river mini aurora and 3 LT Wrights. The LT’s are brilliant knives.

Hi have the GNS and it’s a great heavy duty knife. Along with the Genesis, and Next Gen I own. But the Aurora is high on my list for another knife in that 4-4.5” blade length. Also have an LT Wright Bandit currently on the way. Can’t wait to try that little guy out!

While I love my Carbon steel blades, living in the PNW coastal region I’m really getting tired of babysitting them in our nine months of humidity. I’ve found 3v to perform well year round for me and it usually gets me through my trips without needing resharpened. Still looking for a more stainless option...

Aebl from a good source with a good heat treat is supposed to be really similar to carbon steels but with the added benefit of being stainless. Magnacut is all the rage now also

Have both in 3v...Aurora full height grind and GNS in saber. My Aurora is the best desert wood example I’ve had and sadly I did a Richlite handle on the GNS. Was able to get a standard grind Aurora in Micarta recently that’s not perfect but I bought it to be the beater blade. Been looking to replace the GNS with the lighter more comfortable handle material for years now with no luck. Recently saw they finally produced a few GNS’s in 01 steel with over $300 price tags...WHAT! I use the LT Wight sheath’s for both knives. I do use the Aurora’s the most. Just lighter and better balanced to me. Would love to try LT’s AEB-L...

I have a GnS in aeb-l that looks and feels like aluminum but it’s very tough and durable! The handle is very ergonomic and feels nice even after a while of constant use!

My Bark River cub in 3V is literally my one favorite knife of all the over 1,000 different quality knives in my collection I like it so much that I own two of the cub, a grizzly and the new cub-edc! 2nd to that might be my Tope recon scout or the Barkie Kepharts I have 3 of those as well

Add Casstrom and TBS and DBK and Joker to the list of near look-alikes in the quality Bushcraft knife catagory. I'm sure there are others. Minor feature differences in any of these. Some have very thick steel stock (4mm) for chopper/chomper bush action. All make great knives. Different grinds, different steels. Lots of custom-made knife options out there as well. Too many choices in my view. Drives me a little crazy trying to decide. (But good for collectors.) At the end of the day or night, it's back to basics for this bushdude. Mora Companion HD, or 5ll--a la Kochansky. Sometimes simple is the way to go.

Cool video! I lean toward the bark rivers more too mostly because of the convex grind but there’s no denying that the LTWK handles are more comfortable and versatile. My perfect blades are LTWKs that I paid a professional to put on a full convex and I get the best of both worlds

LT does convex grinds, they just don't come up as often. The Knife Connection has some next gens with convex right now.

Nice review. I have the GNS in a saber grind but I would prefer a scandi. I also have a BR Northstar in A2 that is very nice knife.

I have a two GNS knives, one scandi one saber. I definitely prefer the scandi, at least for my usage (mainly camping, carving, bushcraft).

I find that the BR handles are better for me. The LTW are just a bit to large for a female medium hand. But I do appreciate the workmanship on the LTW.

How does the LT Wright do with batoning? I have a Bravo 1 and want to get a backup knife. DLT has GNS Saber and Aurora A2 in stock so no lack of choices. My Bravo 1 is a beefy blade and I do not have experience with thinner stuff.

LT wrights are of much, much, MUCH better quality than Bark River. They’re tougher. They’re better in fit and finish. They have a no B.S lifetime warranty compared to Bark Rivers terrible customer service. However, if you’re wanting a tough, quality made knife. I’d go with either Carothers Performance knives or GSO Survive Knives.

@@pubplays368 I think they both make good knives. Ive had four bark rivers, and had to send one back because the grind was off. I've had two lt wright's. One had a bad heat treat, the other I sent back due to a bad grind. I favor the bark rivers, they grind their knives nice and thin near the edge.

@@gilbertopadilla3611 I can believe you had an L.T with a bad heat treat. Peter handles L.Ts heat treating and out of thousands of knives one or two are bound to pass through inspection. But I do not believe you one bit about the bad grind line on an L.T. I’ve never seen one with a bad grind line. I’ve handled hundreds of L.Ts knives. Both through my students and at the pathfinder gathering. Not saying it’s impossible. But I know wrights inspection process as I’ve been to his warehouse. Everything is measured out and beveled down by jigs perfectly. Meanwhile I’ve handled probably close to a thousand bark rivers. Easily 200 or more had really poor quality control issues. Ever since bark river went into mass production in 2013. Their quality control severely went down. It’s so bad. I’ve had multiple knife vendors tell me they have to weed out the decently finished knives for their customers while sending back a good portion of their log orders for re-finishing. It’s terrible.

“Perfection” is not real. Bark river isn’t perfect, thats what makes them perfect. Feels more of a hand made knife, a beautiful piece hand finished by an individual. To me… that is perfect.

I wouldn’t ever own a bark river. But personally I don’t see a use for a knife that cost that much. My mora Garberg was $55. The big difference my budget knives get used all the time. My buddies bark river is a show off piece. I get the let me use your knife don’t wanna scratch mine, or my favorite. When I say where is your knife, “ I didn’t wanna lose it” The time I got him to use it breaking down some firewood it rolled the edge. My $38 BPS knife had no problems. Seen another bravo1 blade chipped we was racing to start a one stick fire. I just don’t get the cult following. Sharpening steel isn’t worth $200+ to me. But I’m just a poor redneck
