Also a confirmed Sony-guy. Bought an FX30 for work when I made training videos for the Navy. Now that I am semi-retired podcasting, I am looking for a companion camera to my FS5. They have the same Super 35 CMOS. Fun to buy vintage glass from old SLRs and I use an e-mount adaptor. With the adjustable ND filter on the FS5, clicking through aperture on the lens works great. And yeah, the e-mount lens options you gave are killer. Right now I'm using the kit lens. Subscribed!

Looking at this camera for a two person video podcast. Why would you suggest only one with the top handle? Wouldn't you need both to have them, as both people would be using a separate mic? I have a 2 mic interface, would you use this in the setup? Please explain! Will save been so much money!! Thank for this video man!

Hey what’s up boss. You would only need one of them to have a top handle to get the audio. As long as you have the other recording in camera audio so you can sync them up later in post to ensure your audio matches your video. Also, the top handle has two inputs for XLR so you would be able to plug both mics up to the handle. Hope this helps.

@@MarbooJr I’ve been using 2 Rode podmics until now, but have been recording sound separately through an interface-laptop. Which has been fine, but if u can get the sound directly into camera it will save a huge step in post production. From your experience, does the sound that gets recorded into the FX30 still have as much info as if recorded via an interface?

Would you still recommend a top handle if I already have a rode podcaster pro 2? Also I currently have 1x a7iv and 3x zv-e10 for my podcast. Im thinking of using the a7iv for my talking head cam, and buying 4x fx30 for my podcast. Would that be a good idea? Or should i just buy 3 more a7iv to complement the one I already have?

Not necessary. It really depends on the situation you are in. If you are in studio, the procaster will work best. But on the go, definitely the handle will be better

To be honest, any camera is suitable for recording anything. The best camera is the one you have. With it being a podcast, as long as your audio is good, and your image is viewable and not hard on the eyes, you will be good 👍🏾
