Happy to see Panny hooking you up with the loaner! Well deserved. Your color looks great! Care to share your correction/grading process? I haven't shot much with my S5IIX yet but it's been great so far. Loved my S1, but just wanted competent AF and intraframe options so the X was a great fit. Curious to hear your thoughts on shooting intraframe for skate/action stuff. Should be better for deep-focus, detailed, high-motion shots (i.e. fisheye shots). Back with the GH4 I found it to be much smoother/better-looking, haven't had an intraframe-capable cam since then.

Yeah So I typically start with one of the 33 free LUTs from panasonic as a bas then grade it from there, I've also used phantom LUTs before and like how they look, V-Log is a pleasure to work with though!

Great rundown of the camera, but particularly appreciate seeing it in action + results. (lol -- took me about halfway through the video to recognize Creston Pool...we hit this park nearly every time I'm up there visiting family, and I hadn't gotten to the end of the video where you announce the location)

QUESTION: but first….big fan Nigel. I love love my S5ii. But when i put a 1/8 pro mist filter on…..it misses focus constantly. Took the filter off and it was right back to great auto focus. I guess the algorithm needs those sharp edges? I’m wondering if anyone else experienced this.

I personally don't use a pro mist anymore so I can't really speak to the performance while using one, but I am looking into getting a tine digital diffusion FX filter instead to compbat the moire than can occur when shooting tight patterns. Thanks for watching!

that was a nice front heel! I’m curious how your mic performed, did you get a lot of clipping when Berkeley would do his tricks? I find I get that a lot with my mics

actually no, the mic I used was the Godox VDS-m2 mic and it actually performs very well outdoors, not so much as a indoor dialogue mic (which I regret now using it for the talking head portion of this video)

My biggest complain is about the huge hdmi delay. I can't have this. Especially If you work with manual lenses or even a focus puller that is a no go unfortunately. Because except that it's just a awesome camera. What do u think of this aspect?

Would you recommend selling a gh5 kit in order to put the money towards an S5II? Potentially just running the 24-105 and a prime 50?

Yeah I definitely think there are benefits to the full frame sensor and phase detect AF, i think if the work you do calls for it, its probably a smart move, but if you don't care about the sensor size, perhaps the new G9II would be a better option so you can keep you current lens kit?

I sold my G85 and got an A6100 and I miss my lumix, the low light wasn't the greatest but I never shot at night, and when I did the 25mm f1.7 was awesome. now I have a 12mm f2, and a 30mm f1.4 but I like the picture from the G85 a bit better. and the camera over heats as well, even with a dummy battery and external power.

HI I currently shoot with an older fuji Xt3 and im looking to upgrade. Im trying to decide between 2 full frame cameras. The new Lumix s5iix or the older Sony A7siii. My use case is video only and im currently focused on realestate videos and some weddings, client work ect. My main concern is for filming real estate in 4k60. What would look better a7siii 4k60 or the lumix s5ii 4k60 cropped? Most high end videographers in the real estate industry use a7siii. Taking everything into account, noise, low light, Dynamic range, image quality ect which is better. My goal to get the best quality for 4k 60 video. Thank you

If it’s for filming strictly- they’re really very even- but Sony has a much more established, reliable autofocus system. I own the lumix however and I wouldn’t trade it for any camera (maybe an Alexa or something lol) the video quality is incredible and the autofocus rivals Sony, not quite as reliable but still excellent. You can shoot open gate on the Lumix. The Sony I would’ve recommended if you’re doing filming in really dark areas with no lighting set ups, but the Lumix is right behind it in terms on low light function. Maybe even equal. The Lumix performs better in the mid range ISO’s (the ones you’d shoot with more often) and the Sony performs better at like 12,000 ISO or some crazy shit which blows my mind but you don’t really need that, my lumix is excellent in low light, maybe not pitch black like the Sony however 😂

@@NigelBarros it does! i mean it is like 90% of the s5iix features including the real time LUTS, record to ssd, and a new leica monochrome mode which is like all i wanted from the s5iix and more. but w the g9ii i get to use my fav lens library as well, and the pdaf is insane.
