Hey 👋 Omar! I have been using a Canon m50 with 22mm lens for my video podcast.???when I upgrade for 4K, what should I get??? Or should I just upgrade in post??? Also, I do have the iPhone 13pro but think the camera is a better use case because of larger sensor right? (Sorry for duplicate post, saw question pinned after).

Hi Guys, This is Prateek from Delhi, India 🇮🇳. I am Using iPhone XR with DJIOm4 gimbal, Rode mic , and a power bank, for a year now from the start. 4k @24fps shooting and Editing is smooth on this phone. I don’t have any editing laptop. So The best part is, my whole gear fits into my jacket and feels very light while trekking. Some drawbacks are you wouldn’t get blurry background and wide frames but I heard that can be done with latest iPhone 13. So I would suggest to any beginner buy an good phone with high storage options, a good mic, a tripod or gimbal and start recording because budgeting is also a key factor when you are new to content creation. Remember! Stories and presentation is important than heavy gear. My best wishes to all the dreamers starting out. 🤗

I'm still using a 9 year old Sony RX100, and the 1080p video quality looks amazing! You can pick them up for around 100 bucks. Just record sound by putting your phone in your shirt pocket, sync up in iMovie, and you're good to go. Sure, you can buy a new camera and run 4K, but that means investing several hundred busks on the camera, and you may run into difficulties because your laptop cannot cope with 4k files, meaning you have to upgrade your laptop too, so you're now fronting perhaps 2,000 bucks, as a beginner. Far better to keep your current phone, your current laptop, and just get an RX100 for maybe 100 bucks, while you figure out the basics. Because if you jump into a ZV-E10, or whatever, you'll soon be wanting something better, and wishing you hadn't spent a lot of cash on a camera that experienced video makers would never choose to use themselves.

I have both the Sony ZV1 and the Sony ZV E10 and they both have their pluses and minuses. The ZV 1 for me is set to auto everything and I just turn it on and film. I've been getting really good quality shots and exposures doing it this way. I only shoot in 1080p as 4K files are way too big and my computer can't handle the processing. If you're doing KZbin, you really can't tell the difference in quality. The only difference is if you zoom in, the quality is not as good then you have to shoot in 4K if you're going to zoom in a lot in post. The down side of the ZV1 is inability to change lenses. It's not a bad thing but you won't be able to zoom in great distances or get super close to objects. You can add the Ulanzi wide angle lens to it, but I don't like the idea of gluing something to a lens that I can't replace if it cause it to burnout the motor due to the weight. I finally got to use my Sony ZV E10 the other day and was happy with some of the shots. But, this camera needs to be used manually. Meaning, in order to get the shots that you want, you have to put it in manual mode and adjust for each shot to get the quality that you are looking for. A beginner camera...not really but one that will allow you to grow with many options in my opinion. I think the two biggest complaints of the ZV E10 are the lack of wide angle in Active Stabilization mode and the rolling shutter in 4K. As I said earlier I film in 1080p and may never see the rolling shutter, so that is not an issue for me. The wide angle and gaining a crop when I use Active Stabilization, was a problem. Not anymore. Ulanzi makes a wide angle lens for the ZV E10 that screws onto the kit lens of the ZV E10 and not have to glue it to the lens. (Ulanzi WL 3) Works really good but adds weight. The buttons on the ZV E10 on top are so much better that the ZV1. I hit the record button on the ZV E10 every time without an issue. On the ZV1 I would sometimes hit the mode button and think I'm recording. Plus, I would have to figure out if I changed any of the settings in the ZV1. I think it just depends on what you are looking for to make videos. Easy of use or possible artistic choices. I also have a Canon SL3 that has phenomenal color but I needed that extra stabilization, lower aperture lens that doesn't cost the same as a Sony ZV 1 for lower light situations, and longer recording times. As far as using a phone to film, I've done it and have gotten good videos from it, but I like that separation of a phone is just for calls and social media, and a camera is for taking great pictures and video for KZbin. That's just me, though. The best camera depends on what you are going to use it for and if you want ease of use or options to grow.

I have a couple of the Sonys and rely on them for a few reasons. Number one, their color seems to be brighter. Now pros will tell you that it’s over saturated, which may be true, but what people don’t realize is that the human eye always goes to what’s brightest first. So if I am making content for people to watch, that’s where I go. Number two, the lens on the point and shoots from Sony are all Zeiss glass which picks up a tremendous amount of detail. 3. Sonys auto focus and steady shot is pretty much unmatched. Take that even further with the OSS lens on the mirror less camera and that goes even further.

Zv1 is the winner in my opinion. It packs a punch all in one versus the others where the kit lens is basically the equivalent to the ZV1 24-70mm and if you want more...then it isnt just $600 or $749...its hundreds of dollars more for the additional lenses and other accessories as well. So quality, and best bang for your buck is the ZV1 in my opinion. U can get the ZV1 and add the Ulanzi wide angle lens kit for $50, SmallRig Cage $29, Ulanzi M49 $18 light, Ulanzi Tripod $19 and Rode Micro $49 and here u have a beast without spending hundreds on another lens

I heard “4K” about 100 times. 1080 is all you need. You can’t usually tell the difference and the file size is so much better to work with and store. You’re not doing right for beginners by making them believe they need 4K.

I think it's not accurate to label those APS-C cameras "beginner cameras", and does not help marketing them sadly. Not everyone is doing studio videos or vlogging down the street. If I go on a 3 day high altitude hike in mountains, I'm definitely not bringing a Canon R5 with a gimbal. I just can't, it's too heavy and it wouldn't make the hike any fun. What I need is a camera that fits the usage and the best I can do is a light APS-C camera, such as my Canon M6. Does that mean I'm automatically a beginner? I think that gear is independent from skillset and they probably should be labeled "sub-1000$ cameras" instead :)

The zv-1 has a few more cons you should consider: 1. It’s incredibly small. That sound like a plus but it means you will always be accidentally pressing buttons since there are a lot of features and buttons on this camera 2. It gets hot easily. The camera is prone to overheating in 90+ degree weather and that will shut down the camera. You can change a setting to avoid this to a certain extent but it’s still an issue. I have had to bring an a cooler with ice pads in it to make sure this doesn’t occur. 3. Poor battery life. Because the camera is small, it takes a tiny battery. I will go through 3-4 batteries in a day of shooting (possibly more because I’m always charging). I have missed shots because of this and it means a lot of extra time is consumed when shooting. The battery is also located underneath the camera where a stand or handheld stick would attach, so replacing the battery can take a few minutes since you’ll have to detach everything first. Also, that Ulanzi lens is a gimmick. It provides a wider angle but the glue will not hold to that lens with regular use, and once it falls off you’ll need to clean it very well before applying another sticker. I have not used it since the first time it came off because it was simply unreliable after that. For these reasons, I wouldn’t recommend this camera. Either increase your budget for the next model up in the Sony family (I’m looking at the 6600) or get the competing cannon.

For $250 you can afford to loose it. Phones are hard to use as they don't have a goof front screen and stabilization is not great. Great video, as always, but please mention when you recommend the Canon M50 that it does not have clean HDMI output. I bought an M50, and when I tried to use it for live streaming, I realized my mistake. And I was in a situation where I had to have autofocus, so it was unusable. Please encourage creators to get the Mark II if they want to live stream. You’ll save them a lot of trouble and expense.

One of the biggest cons of GoPro is battery life and 20-minute recording limit. When you add it's virtually unusable indoors because of the noise in the picture, you are missing A LOT of important aspects in your "guide"
@ronaldcaraway8184
@ronaldcaraway8184 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, yes and yes. The number 1 con on the Gopro 10 is battery life. 20-minutes is all you get before having to change batteries and it takes a couple of hours to charge them, I am so glad you mentioned that because I was going to. So even if you have 4 batteries and are constantly charging you get 80 minutes but then the first battery hasn't charged fully.

Most modern smartphones produce acceptable quality video for starting out provided you have decent light. Considering audio is most important, I would put any initial capital investment into audio equipment and lighting instead of a camera. Once you see some success or you are able to invest more into the venture, then look at upgrading your camera as long as it doesn't complicate your workflow too much.

The smartphone is a great way to get started. Since almost everyone has a smartphone you can add an external mic for $30 then prop your phone up on some books and get started. With this simple setup you’ll have the ability to record better quality videos than was really even possible when KZbin first started. It’s a great time to start your own KZbin channel.

@@JavanOnyango249 there are many choices that are reasonable in price. The main one I have experience with is from a company called AGD. I’ve been very satisfied with them. If you want to try something different and your phone has a headset jack just be sure the mic has a TRRS connector and if you have an iPhone you will also need a TRRS to Lightning adapter.

The only MAJORRRRRR problem is storage! Like I never have any storage on my phone and that is what “paralyzes” me more than anything. I have cloud storage too through the One Drive, but the One Drive takes up storage too. So for this reason, I think smartphones are definitely not ideal. They are super convenient, but they are definitely not practical after a while if you’re making 7-10 minute videos in 4K. Especially with all of the other stuff on your phone talking up space. And backing them up to the drive? Can take weeks to get them all without it messing up and having to start over.

I can highly recommend the ZV-E10. It feels the most modern of any camera marketed for content creation. Especially suited to talking head, streaming, and vlogging due to its small size. USB-C is a must as we head into 2022... not sure what's taking other cameras so long on that!

What’s the stabilization mate 🤔 while walking
@insidethebind1201
@insidethebind1201 3 жыл бұрын
@@ravana7149 The built-in stabilization is a bit wanting due to the fact that the Sony ZV-E10 has the same sensor as the Sony A series, BUT what the ZV-E10 has that those do not is a gyroscope that records data in your video, and what you actually should do is record without any stabilization and then put the video through Catalyst Browse (Sony free software) And the data from the gyroscope is amazing! Here is a video showcasing the difference, this is how I recommend using the camera. I own a ZV-E10 and its the best decision I have ever made. hope this helps kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4nbdpaco919pZY
@dylanmacintosh
@dylanmacintosh 3 жыл бұрын
@@ravana7149 stabilization while using an OSS lens (like the 16-50 kit lens you can buy it with) in "Standard" mode is pretty good if you're just walking around, not shaking anything too much. Turning it up to "Active" mode makes it more stable, but crops in the picture a little bit making it less convenient to walk around with, seeing as you'll probably be holding it at arms length hoping to get some background in your shot. If you're dead set on getting the best possible stabilization out of this camera I'm happy to say it can record gyro metadata for use in post-production stabilization programs such as Catalyst Browse, which work amazingly well frankly. Beyond that, I would recommend a GoPro or recent model iPhone for super-stabilized walk-around footage straight out-of-the-box.

@@dylanmacintosh thanks mate. Does it record 4️⃣k in standard and active mode 🤔. I’d love to know this last question
@dylanmacintosh
@dylanmacintosh 3 жыл бұрын
@@ravana7149 4K 24fps recording is available with no crop in Standard stabilization mode- which is great news. 4K 24fps Recording is still available in Active stabilization mode, but with a hefty crop of 1.44x, meaning you're gonna be cropped in and lose almost half of your frame. If you're looking for a really wide shot with the highest resolution possible, your best bet would be to look into a late model GoPro or action camera, but if a blurry background is tantamount to your shot then I'd think this interchangeable-lens camera shooting at 4K 24fps in Standard stabilization mode would do just fine for walk-around vlogging. Note that the rolling shutter "jello" effect certainly acts up when shooting 4K if this camera moves too fast from side to side, like while running. If you're just walking though, and moving the camera minimal amounts, you should have a good experience with this camera at this price point, even shooting 4K.

I‘m using the sony a7s iii and we have the a7 iii as well but the thing is that i don‘t think that the zv-1 is only a „beginner“ camera! I could do cinematic videos with perfect b-rolls and stuff but don‘t think it is necessary for our youtube videos also considering to vlog with a 2000$ or a camera for over 4000$ is to dangerous in my opinion. Because of this main points i need to have a more compact camera that i will buy without having the fear of dropping it and loosing a lot of money. It‘s more convenient with the zv-1 where you don‘t need to buy additional lenses or change lenses at least when you have some. And if i want to shoot cinematic footage i could do it with the zv-1 or change to the other cameras that we have. My opinion is that the zv-1 is a good allrounder camera for pros and beginners (if the use case fits).
