Nikon…yeah not a big fan. Canon I think makes great cameras but in many respects seems to be one step behind Sony in FF and one step behind Fuji in APS-C, and the value prop from Panasonic usually outdoes canon too. So while I can easily recommend that anyone in the canon ecosystem stay the course, I don’t see it as the best entry point for those on the outside.
