Solid review ! You really love Sony products. Speaking realistically, if someone is willing to spend a decent amount of money, any of the main brands Sony, Fujifilm, Nikon, Canon, Panasonic etc are going to deliver high quality video. Also some of my favourite creators started their channels just shooting with their phone, so although buying a high quality camera can definitely upgrade your videos, it's not necessary to get started (I know the video didn't claim this, I'm just pointing it out because sometimes people think they need to spend a lot to get started).

I'd go Action4 over 5. Get the 49mm filter adapter w/ a diffusion filter and a close focus filter, and the image quality is phenomenal.

Highly recommend the Pocket 3 for webcam use. I put a tiny quiet desk fan pointed at it and I can do 4k60 1 inch sensor webcam for long recordings or streams

pocket 3 will be better since it can focus. Action 5 is an action cam with a fixed focus lens which means it cant close focus. If you want to show the details of your work you need a camera that can auto-focus

I will use Insta360 Ace Pro 2 instead of both DJI vlogging cameras mentioned in the video. Flipped screen, recording up to 8K30, Night Mode is top notch.

yes, but flip up screen not good for natural style vlogging, since if you want to switch between yourself and shooting the world outside you'd have to fumble with display each time you rotate the camera. Personally I think the dual-display is the best solution for vlogging. Also AcePro is only 8-bit video.

MFT system needs to be mentioned. Almost no overheating issues, great image quality, solid IBIS, and much more affordable. Plus you can add almost every camera mount to an MFT camera. LUMIX g9ii, g9, gh5, and gx9 cameras are amazing.

@ the g9ii does a great job, they’ve updated the auto focus system to phase detect auto focus. Basically making them as reliable as you would expect. And I think you mean contrast detect auto focus. Continues auto focus can struggle but single point and fixed section are great.

Gee! Lots of Sony on the mirrorless end but I take it that you primarily had Sony cameras at your disposal. But there are also great options from Panasonic Lumix line for options under $1800, as well as Nikon and Canon.

You could use the Osmo Pocket 3 for a cooking show, especially if you’re filming in a small space or need smooth, stabilized shots. Just keep in mind that its small sensor might struggle in low light, so good lighting is key. Also, since it has a wide field of view, framing tighter shots of your food might require getting creative with positioning. Mounting it on a large tripod works great for stability-just make sure you have the right adapter or cage for secure mounting. Hope that helps!

The slogan of think media is ‘hit record’, I am surprised the video suggests to wait for potential new camera releases this year before buying an FX3. There are no indications that an upgrade will be released this year, and even if it is, Sony cameras hold their price. A person can start creating videos now and later switch, if there is a new release and if this potential release is also worth the upgrade. Two big Ifs there. Meanwhile, someone who starts recording now, can have by then over 20 videos on KZbin and be monetized.

What was that? A Sony ad campaign? There are far better alternatives for less money. - Fuji XM5. With 6.2k open gate, no overheating, fuji external fan if needed for long sessions, smallest APSC camera, good enough AF, great colors, etc. Third party lenses. -Panasonic S5II / S5IIX. Incredible IBIS, you dont need a gimbal or post time for stabilization, you don't need ugly EIS, and is cheap for a full frame. Internal fan, no overheating. Great video AF. All the lenses from Sigma and L mount. - Nikon Z6III. 6k RAW vídeo 😳. 4k60fps with great quality. A lot of options. Great lenses. Better than any Sony at the price. Third party lenses.

I'd agree that the Panasonic S5 II is a great camera, and I'm also excited for the Fuji XM5 even though it's not out yet. However, I wanted to focus on the cameras we actually own and use. That doesn’t mean other cameras aren’t great choices-what works best depends on your shooting style. This is simply our collective experience making videos and choosing cameras with a strong price-to-performance ratio.

When it comes to price-to-performance, Sony has definitely taken the lead. Especially when it comes to features like autofocus, low-light performance, and overall versatility for video. Canon still makes great cameras, but Sony has been our choice because of its strong hybrid capabilities and lens selection.

Sorry, I have to disagree here. Canon cameras have been absolutely on par when it comes to autofocus and lowlight capabilities for a number of years - there may be situations when one of the two brands is better than the other, but none of them is superior in all use cases and in most they are in fact on the same level. And image stabilization is even better with Canon, in particular in the cameras with IBIS. There are plenty of reviews out there that support this opinion. When it comes to hybrid shooting, Canon is also the better choice as even their low-end DSLMs have an integrated viewfinder - and their cameras have always been very good for photography (with few exceptions and the fact that they had less dynamic range in their sensors than Sony had; but those times are gone). Also Canon cameras are on the same price level - in fact sometimes even cheaper for the same kind of performance (at least over here in Germany). The main downside with Canon is that there are virtually no third-party lenses available - and even now that they‘ve opened the R-mount at least a tiny bit, it will take time until there will be a decent number of third-party lenses available. Having said that, there are some good budget lenses available from Canon; but their is much more choice for Sony‘s E-mount. The one segment where I see Sony quite a bit ahead is compact cameras: There is nothing like the ZV-1 (II) in Canon‘s portfolio.
