I'm glad u pointed out how a 1.5x crop is simply stupid for a full frame. Defeats the purpose, and makes the FF feel a bit gimmicky rather than a core feature
@minasladomenos114111 күн бұрын
It depends! In video its maybe better! Some times! If you buy an apsc camera with 24mpx vs a FF with 24mpx, you get wat better low light in the FF camera even in apsc mode! Because the apsc camera have 24mpx in the apsc sensor but the FF camera with apsc crop have 12mpx in the apsc crop. Better low light performance better rolling shutter. Still small lenses. You can use the FF camera for FF photography and in the same time is a very capable apsc video camera. Also FF cameras that have a crop (apsc) tend to have a lot better quality in the crop mode than the FF (video wise) due to oversampling. Its all about perspective!
@traffbros10 күн бұрын
Why is it stupid? Get a CR, slap a 18-50 with a sigma 56 1.4. Or slap that 75 from Viltrox, which is on par with expensive ff lenses. ZVE1 is awesome. Problem for Sony is that market is now being attacked (for non professional KZbinrs) by the Pocket 3, which is absolutely awesome, much cheaper, has good low light etc. I’ve got both, but I hardly use my ZVE1 now as I have a tiny gimbal balanced Pocket 3, I can take anywhere, and film with zero friction. I'd say the a6700 is basically a flagship APSC atm considering it's an amalgamation of a7's and FX tech currently available. Don't particularly think we need an a6900 or a7000 for now. Here's a list of updates and cameras I like to see somewhere down the line though. 1. a6450 - updated a6400 with modern ports, better faster newer sensor and newer video features at sub 1k. IBIS for under 1k is unheard of but not impossible. 2. RX 100VIII - Hybrid 1 inch sensor pocket camera. Basically an even baby a6700 with modern videos and photos features while still keeping 24mm-200mm lens. Or if Sony is feeling experimental, M43? 😂 3. Consumer camcorders 1 inch. I want long zoom range and longer battery life with modern ports, features and newer colour science and AF tech. Can't really think of anything else other than lenses, maybe some fun video moment, turning Xperia into a camera focus device with triple big sensor lenses etc. But man can dream 🤷🏻♂️

I have actually been looking at the ZV1-F for being a third video body (I currently use a6400 as primary, rx100 7 as second view, and third/crowd view from gopro)....but made me think about fixed lens RX100... I think if they did a faster, stabilised fixed lens on the rx100 vii body (with viewfinder), I think it could be something that could compete with other street photography EDCs.... although it would have to be significantly cheaper than the GRIII to be competetative.... I am still thinking of getting an RX100 VA because having the shorter/brighter lens for some situations is appealing... as well as the built in ND filters.

David's sporting the "my workspace is a bit messy" telephoto portrait camera view here. I used that same option for this morning's zoom call 😂 Interesting results. With rotary I did't see a difference years ago when I tested. I would wonder about hot spots in the developer solution due to incomplete dilution. I use 1-shot development with a magnetic mixer which runs ~10 minutes. I've got a water distillery machine, which I expect eliminates some variables too. Maybe I'll test the next time I fire up the jobo, bust out the Patterson tank alongside it. I definitely see a difference in stand development using pre-soak, I had not seen a difference in the past with DDX or Xtol rotary.

15:59 but… that’s not how megapixels work It would go 100mp (35mm/1x) to 25mp (70mm/2x) to 6mp (140mm/4x) This is because megapixel is the multiplication of the vertical pixel count X the horizontal pixel count. EXAMPLE: 4000x3000 = 12 million pixels (12mp). 6000x4000 = 24 million pixels (24mp)
@XiaoHo-p1q8 күн бұрын
In terms of the future direction of the A7r series, it may be worth pursuing a light field camera design, using a different microlens array to record light direction, in addition to intensity and colour. This would allow complete control over depth of field and focus - with the right RAW conversion software, you could have the entire image in focus (even at long focal lengths), everything except the desired subject out of focus (while every part of the subject remains in focus, or with whatever falloff you want), multiple subjects in focus (e.g. for group shots) and everything in between. For the typical use case of the A7r series, this would be extremely handy - telephoto landscapes with everything in focus, macros with the entire subject in focus without having to focus stack, group portraits with everyone in focus and the like. To do this with good directional resolution requires around 9 or 10 photosites per pixel. You wouldn't do it with a 100MP sensor, for instance, since most people would want more than a 10MP final image, no matter how good the quality. But a 450-500MP sensor is not out of the question, and is significantly less dense than the sensors used in phone cameras, drones and other small-sensor cameras. This would not be out of the question for the A7r a few generations down the line. And a 50MP final image with infinitely-controllable focus options is much more useful to most people than a 500MP sensor that will outresolve any lens and produce huge, unwieldy TIFFs anyway. Noise performance wouldn't suffer, as you are using the same overall sensor area - it's just divided into more parts initially, before being consolidated into a final 50MP image. The main drawback would be frame rates, since all that sensor data still needs to be read and recorded. But this is the A7r series, not an action body. This is certainly not something for the next generation of A7r bodies. But, down the line, Sony and others will have to do something to distinguish the various lines, if they want to keep them going. Otherwise the A7r series will hit a ceiling of useful resolution (a 300MP image from a full frame sensor and lens is of no use to anyone) with nothing left to do but increase frame rate, while the A9 series will hit a ceiling of useful/practical frame rate, with nothing left to do but increase resolution, and both lines will start to converge on each other, meeting at the specs of some future generation of A1 body, with a good balance of speed and resolution, coupled with top-notch AF. Going down new directions, with features useful to typical users of that kind of camera and not easily replicated in a more general-purpose camera, is the only way to keep the distinct lines going in a meaningful way beyond that point, and provides useful goals for camera development beyond simply making them faster and higher resolution than anyone actually needs or wants.

My lens names Sigma 100-400mm chonky boi (although lighter than many alternatives) Tamron 70-180mm son of chonky boi Tamrom 18-300mm no worries boi

I re-bought an a6400 this November after missing mine. Got it mint with a 50 shutter count for like $620 from a japan seller after looking around. It doesn't have ibis but my main lens will be sony ones with stabilization with a sigma lens or two on the side. I don't really shoot video and will have other cameras like my drone and pocket 3 for that anyways.

I have a 6600 and a 6400 and the 6400 is a great camera. My only advice for amazing pictures is to use prime lens. I have the e11 1.8 and 50 1.8 and the 70/350g and I shoot with one of the top cannon guys around and my pictures are close enough that I couldn’t justify the price of his equipment unless it was paying for itself every few months

Jason I really enjoyed this video and I have a question for you. If your willing to help me. I'm considering another sony purchase.... as a rookie videographer back in 2018 I purchased the a6400, then moved up to the a6600 ( the 6700 was not yet released..bummer).... I pretty much use the 6600 and I also use Go Pros.. because I hate gimbals and heavy equipment. The stabilization on a Go Pro is outstanding. but would like that kind of stabilization in a better camera. I'm considering the Sony ZV-E1.... for the low light features and it has stabilization that seems to be similar to a Go pro...... I would have to buy a full frame lens too. Is it worth it the investment?

An A7000 would likely be $2799 with A9II/III relevant specs, especially given today's pricing structures allowing for egregiously inflated rebates. The market would never allow an APS-C product to hit $3K. Nikon's D500 set the standard the A6700 finally matched... But OMDS is slaying the feature mix for crop sensor sports/wildlife cameras. If anything, firmware updates to the A6700 would be best for everyone, including Sony. Also you're not factoring in the optical needs, even for primes (95% of whom can't even truly resolve 61mp), to hit 100mp. Diffraction would hit so fast, the subjects in the frame would get bruises. Make computational photography more of a refined capability and we can meet halfway.

Well, as a zve10 mark 1 owner, what's going on around the apsc vs the FF universe, is that the best way to enter FF world, WITH the best software now available, is the A7 C2. I was looking for a a6700, as the top tier offer from Sony, however there came out a chance to get the A7 C2 for a great price to ignore it. And I pulled the trigger. Let's see if the FF look is so much worth the discussion about it. Next week I will be able to answer that question. But the reason I am posting a comment just right now, is that I don't believe on a A7 C3 till 2028, just because the A7 V has to come out before, and only, just only WHEN Sony is thinking about the A7 VI, there will be an updated Compact version of it. That's my 2cts....

As an a7C II user who isn't too hung up on features like 4K@120p, I really don't see much room for improvement right now. Sure, there will be the usual little quality of life updates on the next model, maybe even a joystick, but if the a7C II/R isn't good enough for you, you're either a professional with very specific demands, or more likely you're a perpetually unhappy person who will always find something to nitpick.

I got the a6700 as a secondary camera for recording podcasts and at 4k30 it overheated a few times and a runtime under an hour. I returned it and got the A7SIII and it's been much more reliable

I think Sony would do well to release a RX1R III with several different lens options. Perhaps even interchangeable at a service centre (after all, only the lens assembly would need to be changed), but not on the fly. These are primarily street photography cameras, whose main attraction over interchangeable-lens bodies is their small size and light weight relative to their optical performance. But not everyone wants a 35mm lens. If you prefer an 85mm, or 28mm, for instance, you wouldn't buy the RX1R II. It shouldn't be too difficult to design and produce several different lens assemblies (the 'front bit') that can be coupled with the same basic camera (the back part). 20/1.8, 28/1.4, 5/1.4, 50/1.4, 85/1.4 and 24-50/2 come to mind as good options. Perhaps even a dedicated macro option. Each would be much smaller than an equivalent lens for an interchangeable lens system, and possibly sharper as well, since no allowance would need to be made for the lens mount. A lot of street photographers would happily go around with two such bodies - perhaps 35mm and 85mm, or 28mm and 85mm. Wedding and event photographers, too, might prefer such a setup. Vloggers would love a 20mm option for a lightweight travel kit. And those who wouldn't currently consider a camera separate from their phone, due to the size and weight of the A1 and similar interchangeable-lens cameras, might just consider a camera like this (particularly with a zoom lens) as a compact and portable upgrade from their phone for travel snapshots. Having multiple lens options would greatly increase the potential audience for the camera, as well as likely enticing many users to buy two bodies with different focal lengths. Having only a 35mm f/2 option, no matter how good, would leave it as a niche body with a very limited audience.

9:00 What i almost want is the A6700's sensor, in a larger body with all of the added controls. I doubt it would be popular but i'd like it for better cooling, lower cost, theoretically better battery life, but maintaining that crop and cheap lens compatibility Dont get me wrong, i like my A6400, but that SEL200-600 just doesnt feel quite right on it, and my A7iii doesnt quite reach out and touch subjects with that lens in the same way as the a6400. I also like one lenses to rule them all like the tamron 18-400(canon and nikon only IIRC sonly only has the 18-300) a lens like that would be hard to manufacture for a full frame, if possible at all. Ok, your solution at 16:00 seems much more likely to succeed in the market, however, i like to let the ISO do whatever it can so that i can get the shot, rather than go home and not take the picture because there isnt enough light, and cropping weather pre or post capture, tends to make that low light noise more noticable, but again this is a niche that i know most people stay away from, for instance, i generally dont use a flash at wedding receptions, espeically on the dance floor instead i get subjects lit by chandeliers and DJ lights even if i use bounce flashes that are remote from the camera it just takes the life out the photo, the caustics coming from the the light contorting through the decorative glass/crystal gems and bulbs, the DJ lights dancing across their faces, that all ptryyu much goes away with even light flash.

Recently upgraded from the A7iii to the A7Rv. I've been absolutely delighted with it. If you're a Sony mostly-stills shooter and YOU DON'T MAKE YOUR LIVING SHOOTING SPORTS AND/OR WILDLIFE, the A7Rv is as good as it gets, period, full stop. 61MP, up to 10 FPS, AI Autofocus, two CF-A slots, excellent EVF, the every which way but loose rear screen. I might look at the A7v, as a video camera, when it comes out, but for stills, I'm good. I don't see Sony (or anyone else) offering anything that would get me to give up my A7Rv, for stills
@Attya-y2y11 күн бұрын
This is true, but in my opinion it kinda sucks that the A7R5 is bad at sports or wildlife, or anything moving fast for that matter. It's supposed to be the photography line of Sony, so in my opinion it should excel in all types of photography, while keeping low specs for video (for which we have the A7S and FX lines) If the A7R VI can get more speed (20+ FPS) and pre-capture that'll be a sick stills camera.
@careylymanjones10 күн бұрын
@@Attya-y2y Moderating the speed allowed Sony to reduce the price of the A7Rv to a MUCH more affordable price point. Matching the Alpha 1's speed would have required a much faster (and more expensive) stacked sensor. And users would have had to buy more expensive Sony glass to get the full speed, further increasing the cost of the camera kit. A7Rv is currently $3,000 less than the Alpha 1ii. You can get nearly any lens in Sony's catalog for $3,000, or alternatively, you can get several third-party lenses for the price difference. A7Rv is currently Sony's price/performance sweet spot, for anyone but pro sports and wildlife photographers.
@Attya-y2y10 күн бұрын
@ Oh yeah for sure, agreed. If you factor in the price, the A7RV is an amazing value, and does an amazing job, especially if you don't care about sports and wildlife. The thing is, I've seen people in this comment section argue that the A7RV is the best Sony camera for stills OVERALL (like they don't even factor in the price, just straight up the best). I feel like these people are in denial either because they own the A7RV, or they just don't shoot anything moving fast, or they don't know about the specs of the A1ii. Agreed, matching the speed of the A1 (30 fps) is probably not doable at this price point, but I'd love it if the A7R line gets something like 15 or 20, and pre-capture. That still wouldn't compete with the A1 because it's still slower, and the A1 has top tier video features which makes it a top tier hybrid, while the A7R line should keep bad video features and be specialized fully for stills, imo. Because when you think about it, yes it it 3000$ cheaper than the A1, but 4000$ is still a huge investment, so it is unfortunate that it can't be top tier for at least one aspect (stills). I have a feeling that if they don't improve that for the A7R line, something like the coming up A7V might overcast a big shadow on in, depending on what features it gets for stills. At some point you can't be solely carried by the 61mp resolution, especially with all the AI upscaling softwares coming up and improving fast.
