⚡QOTD: What Canon DSLR do you think is best for video? LMK! 👇👇👇
@CarterInosencio7 жыл бұрын
Think Media I think it's the Canon T5i. However, I may be biased because that's what I use.
@CarterInosencio7 жыл бұрын
Also, question. Could you make a video about tripods? I have a tripod, but it isn't very compact, and when it's strapped to my camera bag, it runs into walls because it sticks out on the sides. I'm looking into buying a compunction tripod, but don't know what to buy. If you would make a video, that would be AWESOME! Thanks, Carter Inosencio.

Think Media I think video quality you should go for the SL2 because they both have the same sensors and nearly everything. So basically your getting a camper $400 cheaper and does pretty much the same video quality.

Im a pro - I own all three and 3 ff canons as well - The SL2 is my go to for travel - but it really depends on what you are shooting - if you are shooting sports photos - get the better cameras with more focus points, but if you are shooting portraits, the SL2 with the 50mm f/1.8 is tough to beat - it also has the newer sensor - I find the color to be a tad better actually on the SL2 than the 80D - but nothing compared to my 5D or 6D, as expected since they are FF cameras - bottom line - size matters when you travel... the SL2 is a home run in most respects for this. - great Low Light performance as well - even at high ISO's the camera doesn't show grain as much as the 80D - not horrible but you can see it - just my 2 cents :-)

I got the 80D when it came out, it's my first camera ever and it's fantastic! I know it's overkill for a first camera, but I wanted something that would age well and it was definitely the rigth choice. I shoot video alone so the amazing autofocus feature saves me a lot of pain, battery life is also great and it's holding up nicely after two years. Now I'm saving for a second camera (I do drumming videos so I need a second POV) and it's definitely going to be the 200D. Once I save up some more money I'm getting the 50mm and the 10-18mm. Thanks for the great review!

What do the change in lens mm do? I'm new to cameras and don't know shit. I'm looking at the 80D just because all video footage I've seen of it looks sexy. What else do I need other than the camera body itself? What are the different lenses for? I've seen many professional video makers have lenses with hill-shaped figures round the sides of the lense, is that to block out light? Would be much appreciated if you could answer these. Thanks.
@jayb96375 жыл бұрын
@@RealityClubX Just search videos on youtube. I am new as well but these answers can be found easily within youtube itself. I have the 80D with the kit lens (18-135 mm) and I just got the 24 mm f/2.8 The difference is the kit lens has a FOCAL LENGTH that ranges between 18mm to 135mm whereas the 24mm is set and cannot change, its set at 24. However the "f/2.8" is your aperture which is the amount of "bokeh" or blurry background you can get in your photos/videos. the 18-135 has a f/3.5-5.6 which is TERRIBLE. Therefore, I am extremely happy to have a 24mm that cannot change but has a f/2.8 rather than a kit lens like a 18-55mm or 18-3.5 which has a low f stop or "f/3.5-5.6". You'll pick up on these things very quickly when you watch videos on youtube. This guy has some decent videos, for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJWVhWCdf6-cgcU Hope this helps. God Bless
@mp4vids4 жыл бұрын
@@RealityClubX - To answer your question, the higher the mm for a lense, the closer the object will appear in your viewscreen. The 18-135mm is vey nice, but when you really want to step it up, then give Rokinon lenses a try. The quality of those lenses are something special! They are fully manual and are at a fixed length, but if you are looking to make your videos look next level, then Rokinon is the best choice without taking your wallet completely away. The link is a chart to show you comparisons of focal length: www.photomodeler.com/kb/what_is_camera_focal_length/ www.nikonusa.com/en/learn-and-explore/a/tips-and-techniques/understanding-focal-length.html

T7i has the Digic 7 which offers better image quality, 5-Axis Image Stabilization, improved low-light performance and subject tracking. 80D is void of those features and is heavier with a gimmicky screen and weather proofing that I don't need. T7i for me, thanks!

For those who are just getting their first digital camera like I am need to consider not only the price of the kit camera but a 50mm prime Lens (1.8 f stop), SD cards, extra batteries, bag, tripod, lens covers, etc. My start up cost is $1000. Also, I would recommend joining a local photography club. As far as the SL2, it takes wonderful pictures and video. I know I will get years of great service out of this camera and possibly someday move up to a more professional camera down the road. All the best. Jim from Milton, GA

@chemikalguy5 жыл бұрын
One thing I discovered when looking for a refurbished camera from Canon for primarily creating KZbin content videos and looking at these three is that the T7i doesn't have an option for monitoring the audio levels being recorded. For me, that's a killer, as I need to make sure the audio isn't too low or too high and clipping. I have a 70d, and use this every time I record to verify my levels. I seem to recall that you capture your audio using an external device, and thus don't use the camera-recorded audio, so perhaps that's why you didn't mention it in your comparison.

I'm glad you said you didn't think there wasn't much of a difference between the Digic6 and Digic7 processor. I've been worried about that with my choice to buy the 80d
@kevindiaz34597 жыл бұрын
I don't know all the specifics here, but I think the only noticeable difference is that the digic 7 has higher ISO performance. In all seriousness, you will never use the highest ISO on the 80D (26500), as your images would be garbage, so it's not a big deal. I think otherwise its has the typical tweeks, like slightly better noise performance and slightly better color processing, things you wouldn't really notice in a single generation jump. Hell, you likely wouldn't notice if you came up from a couple generations, not unless you are making large prints.

For video (no photography) is there a difference between the auto focus of the Canon SL2 and the other two cameras?
@chrisklugh7 жыл бұрын
This is why Cannon is failing behind the competition. They have 3 entry level cameras that are so close to one another and try to hook new people that don't know anything into buying them. Now, I want to say I bought a T5i last year, and given what I thought I wanted at the time, I love that camera. I can still learn a ton of stuff on that thing so its a great training camera. But knowing what I know now for anyone that wants to get into video, these cameras are still a few years behind what Panasonic is doing. The 3 advantages you get with Cannon: 1) Best Auto Focus. Even then, you will learn manual focus is best for video so this is not that big of an advantage, unless your just doing VLog'n. 2) Good Color Science. You wont really have to worry about color correcting. And if you want to get into Color Correcting, your going to find out that the 4:2:0 8 bit is not enough. 3) Cheap Lens. Got to admit, if you new, the idea of spending a ton on lens is daunting. You can get some usable lens to learn with on a Cannon system. Don't be afraid to buy used! If video is your goal, invest in Panasonic. Might cost a wee bit more for lens, but once your ready to upgrade into a beefier camera, the GH5 and G9, are class leading cameras. Panasonic, is pushing camera tech for consumers and professionals alike. Cannon is relying on its heritage to stay a float, but soon it too might disappear with Kodak if they don't innovate soon! My recommendations: G9 for aprox $500 gets you 4k and into the brand and holds a ton of value. Better then the SL2 and T7i G85 for aprox $1000 gets you 4k, weather sealed, and image stabilization. Better then the 80D

One thing I get confused about is while in live view for photographs does the auto focus points matter or does it rely on phase detection? I also ran into a bit of a problem (not big but is there); no micro focus adjustments for lenses. Not a big deal unless you are shooting real shallow , very close up or macro , and you like using 3rd party lenses that might not be 100% on target. I know, its very niche but, its there.

It's great ... the stand out feature is the 5-axis digital image stabilization for video. I haven't tested it - but I've heard great things!

Love My 80D. Shot night video and pics for the first time in the square tonight and was very pleased with what I captured on a mono-pod. Christmas lights came out really well and only one time with more noise than I would have liked. Thanks for another great video!

Sean you are killing me! I just got the M3, then you make the video on the SL2 and now the 80D (ADD)! :D Btw, your sound level if out of this world, best KZbinr in that regard!

For vlogging ... sl2 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYKppICBf76njLs For "video production" / more versatility for KZbin content / 80D

thanks for the reply!! i'm so torn, i currently have a t3i and a 60d the t3i is lightweight for travel its been around the world with me from australia to philippines and even africa the 60d i am in love with the feel of a solid body although it is heavier. and i feel like the sl2 and the 80d are the obvious upgrades even the 70d because of the autofocus. i vlog and make dance videos, should i get 2 sl2 (cost of one 80d) i already have a 24mm and 10-18mm a kit lens and 55-250mm so it wouldn't make sense for me to sell it all and go to sony. what would you invest in? thanks in advance much love from canada
@kevindiaz34597 жыл бұрын
Louis Luzuka - I saw this after I replied to your other comment. For vlogging and videos of any kind, the SL2 is a pretty nice upgrade over the T3i, and will have a little better performance for stills too (though not enough that I would get it jsut for stills). If at least 50% of your time is spent making video, then grab an SL2, you won't be disappointed. I would also add the EF 50mm F1.8 STM lens to your kit. For 125 USD, it's low light performance is pretty great on APS-C cameras like the SL2, and for it's price it's hard to beat for portraits.

I hope you can reply to this question. I'm really torn between the two, EOS M50 & 80D I'm not really going to Vlogging Industry, I will be just shooting memories, capturing moments and then save it. I just want it to be perfect. Which one should I get. Huhu!

Great video. I think only the t7i and the 80d come on a. Creator kit with a ride mic. It’s surprising that the sl2 does not come in that package deal.
@kevindiaz34597 жыл бұрын
Likely becasue there is no bundle that includes the 18-135mm lens, which is needed for the power zoom accessory. You would be better off jsut getting a Rode mic on it's own, unless you wanted that power zoom, in which case you would probably be better off with the 80D. (this assumes that people that would be using it are making higher level content, and can justify the added cost).
@SeanOzz7 жыл бұрын
Kevin Diaz I’m leaning toward the t7i
@kevindiaz34597 жыл бұрын
Also a good choice, though the SL2 and T7i are jsut about the same for video. The T7i is a better camera for shooting action, as it has the 45 pt AF system as well as a surprising 6FPS burst, jsut 1 frame less than the 80D, or the 5D for that matter! It also features built in stabilization for video (not for stills), though it is not as ideal as using IS lenses. I think you would be happy with either, where the T7i gains the edge if you want to shoot more action shots (for basic portraits and other types of shooting the SL2 works as well as any other 9pt AF Rebel). It is worth pointing out that the 80D has a headphone port that neither the T7i or SL2 have, so if you need to monitor audio while filming then that is the only one of these three that have that.

They’re all very very similar. This is great information. I’m on the market for a camera right now for filming KZbin content so this is great.

Sean...do you have a video showing how to livestream with one of the Canon's. I am wanting to upgrade from the iPhone to the T7i for KZbin videos (more like a podcast). Just want to know everything that would be needed to livestream. Thanks, and keep up the great videos!

T7i and 80D are so far from each other in price and yet so close! I am going for the 80D because of battery life and video. Bad for vlogging because of weight but hey, less work out at the gym. I still have my T5i which I can sell for a good price. Thanks for the video Sean. Respect for your wife for helping out and supporting! Mine is shy ☺️

Finding these videos are like finding a treasure! Great video, keep em coming! Wanted to ask you on your opinion regarding the SL2 vs Panasonic G7 or even G85? Currently thinking about which to get of these two (I want to make short clips, vlogging clips, but also use it as a webcam via Elgatos Cam Link-adapter).. Sending cyberhugs from Sweden =D
@ThinkMediaTV7 жыл бұрын
If you want-need 4K then the G7 or the G85. If not... Canon has much better phase detection AF during video and I find Canon much more user friendly and convenient for creating videos. But all 3 are great cameras. P.S. The G85 crushes all 3... but it's also twice the price as you know :-)

Need some guidance. I have gotten back into photography and own a t3i. I’m looking for an upgrade but I’m not sure which body to buy. I want to buy something far superior than the t3i but I am not a professional by any means. The camera is mostly for a hobby. Any thoughts?
