Yes please do that! I read several reviews and articles online that say vinegar and water is all you need in these carpet cleaners, including if you rent the big commercial ones from the store. One article even says that an added benefit of using vinegar is that it doesn't leave behind a sticky or tacky residue like some of the popular shampoo/cleaners do. Additionally they noted the sticky residue can be counterproductive as it will end up helping to collect more dirt, debris, dust, and gunk which means you will have to clean more often! It might be so subtle you can't feel it with your hands but it could still be working at the microscopic level to attract more dirt!! We need to know if any of this is true!! Does vinegar work as well as store bought cleaning solution, and do the store bought cleaning solutions really leave carpets slightly sticky in the long term tests?

I used a 50/50 solution of water and vinegar with my Bissell carpet shampooer for areas where dogs had missed the puppy pads and had peed directly on the carpet. Excellent results and the vinegar smell dissipates within hours. By contrast, with the Bissell solution I noticed the urine smell was reduced but not completely removed. It was covered up. The vinegar, on the other hand, neutralizes the urine. No bad smell remained and the carpet was thoroughly cleaned. For quick spot treatments I use undiluted vinegar sprayed directly onto the spot.

I just watched the video, and can say, this wasn't tested. You tested the "dryness", not the suction. Carpets with foam underneath, will be wet if not properly extracted. I've watched a few professional carpet cleaning videos, and one technician remarked that he loves fixing jobs, in which the customer tried to use a Rug Doctor. It's major failure is the terrible suction.

Just an FYI, Great Value carpet cleaner is made by Bissel. When I bought my Bissel carpet shampooer from Wal-Mart, it came with Great Value shampoo right in the box. I called Bissel about it and they said that they recommended using Bissel brand, but they make Great Value brand shampoo and were starting to pair them together. I asked why they include Great Value if they recommend Bissel brand and they could not give me an answer. Personally, I use the Great Value because Bissel said it is still really good in the phone call I had made to them. The best Great Value carpet shampoo is the Allergen Defense. I've tried the whole line and Allergen Defense is the only one I suggest. I have five dogs and I've spent hundreds upon hundreds of dollars on carpet shampoos. The best for my household is Allergen Defense then followed with a nice enzyme cleaner like Rocco and Roxie. With occasional accidents, crap tons of dog dander, general spills, sometimes some throw up, this combination is killer. My step-father is terribly allergic to dogs and we always shampoo the carpets before he is supposed to come over and he never has an outbreak (even with five dogs in a 725 square foot house).

I would be curious how Members Mark commercial carpet cleaner from Sam's Club would compare. It costs $7.35 a gallon... yep you heard right $7.35 a gallon with a 4oz to a gallon mix ratio. That's makes 32 gallons of carpet cleaner. I've been using it in my carpet cleaner and have been very happy, however I haven't compared it to other brands like you did in this video.
@peterhewel89845 жыл бұрын
I used to use it on apartments professionally. Very high pH for residential carpet. Very sticky. I would be afraid to use it in a machine. I would pre-spray with a garden sprayer, then plain water rinse. Leaves too much residue, but it cleans fairly well if you pre spray, then rinse.
