I think reliable economy cars like hybrids and Honda civics, Honda fits, Toyota Corollas, camrys, etc. can do well. Fords depreciate like crazy so you can find a number of nice ones with less than 130k miles for a good price. Trick is finding models that are decently reliable and won't have huge repairs down the road. I am tempted by a 2014 Ford flex limited for less than $10k with only 93k miles I believe. It's clean. If you can find hoopties though around $7-8k that's the sweet spot.

Ford Flex are clean and hood value pretty well. Iam staying away from the turbo engines now thought, but all the cars you mentioned are great long term!

Not going to try to take credit but I left few comments on your videos years ago and recommended you to buy Honda & Toyotas. My first ever car on Turo is 2006 Honda Accord listed in 2016 and still going okay. I have very less car turnover. Luckily (or maybe unluckily) not many total loss. But also I limit my fleet to about 5. I envy your setup. I don’t buy from auction & don’t have a shop. 😅 I have to find someone to fix little things and they waste lot of time/income for me

I’ll make a video about it, but it’s basically a line of credit to buy cars but I do have to pay them back before I get the title. It just buys time. It works better for flipping cars but would work great with a line of credit from the bank.

I’m thinking about buying a Camaro ZL1 or newer Corvette and renting out on Turo to simply cover costs and getting to enjoy it on days it’s not rented. Are higher end sports cars a dumb choice to rent?

However : Some horror CONS include: 1.) Guest treat your car like trash 2.) they let random ppl drive it (no insurance will cover if they are not the renter) 3.) Personal insurance will not cover if the car is damaged lost or stolen 4.) Turo will not give you a rental car during repairs unless you gave turo 40% of your profits (60% plan) 5.) You forfeit the right to sue the guest if you agree to Turo terms of service. Think twice before using turo!!! They are a horrible platform, back to normal rental or just google a rental car place…

Stick with selling cars above 160k no matter it is Toyota or Honda. It is not worth your time and effort to deal with engine or transmission repairs. You can make more money by reinvesting the fund into new (used) cars to make more money. Yes, the market is weird right now but in the future, you won't be able to buy a car for $8000, put 50,000 miles on it and sell it for $10,000 two years later. Car is a depreciating asset (unlike real estate).

What state are you in? I would try to get with a local broker or small dealer operation…they can work with you to get a car from the auction.

Thanks bro 🙏🏼 to buy cars from a dealers auction you either need to have a dealers license, or have a dealer sign you up as a representative of the company. There are private auctions like at the tow yards and such, but all the ones I mention are dealer auctions.

I wanna build a fleet of hybrids because they can be dogged and driven like you stole it and still last for hundreds of thousands of miles. My 2013 fusion hybrid I've owned for a while has been that car. I've beaten the shit out of it and everything is original on it, even the brake pads. 211k miles now. Just oil changes, tires, occasional coolant flushes and changing the engine air filter. No creaks or rattles. Still looks and drives like new. Only the tpms light on for low air in a tire lol. I've seen old Priuses in my market getting tons of turo bookings too where the car has already paid for itself. And hybrids hold their value even with high mileage because It's known how long they last

Thanks for giving such a detailed explanation on your decision and I appreciate what you said. I will think about the guest experience as I have several cars in my fleet in the 130ks and 140s. My daily driver is a 2008 Toyota with 245k on it so I am biased thinking they can last forever. I have been blessed so far not to have any engine or transmission failures in my fleet despite a plethora of older vehicles with significant mileage. I might have to learn the hard way, lol.
