I agree about Def tech. I have the 9060 Towers with Atmis as my main speakers, the 9040 as a center, promonitor 1000 for surround and pro monitor 800 for the rear. The sound is great. The subs in the 9060s sound great. The 9040 center is a perfect fit with the system. The sound is clear, concise and makes watching movies or listening to music a great experience.
@konior215 жыл бұрын
You should move the center up so it's flush with the front of the TV stand. As it sits now, you are getting sound reflections off the top of it.Also, get some foam wedges or something to til it up so it's pointing at your ears. Then re-run your AVR's calibration.

I just bought two BP9020’s and a CS9040. It’s amazing!! I fill like for a small room having the two powered towers and the large center is perfect. I have a Yamaha receiver that pushes it very well. If you have a larger room or needed more lows the powered CS9060 is probably better fit.

I hear the svs ultra center speaker is also a great choice for a quality center channel. Don't be cheap , get a good center channel speaker for a home theater . It makes all the difference and will be doing most of the work in a home theater. I replaced a small Yamaha center with a klipsch rp 440c. Wow !! What a difference. It's a large and heavy speaker but boy can it crank out crystal clear music and dialogue.

I think cs9060 is the lowest model that has an actual subwoofer. I really like this feature. Really adds a lot of fullness to a system having 2 subs. Ya gotta make sure you receiver will support 2 subs though. Other than that though, they are all great 👍🏻
@Blaquegold5 жыл бұрын
JeremySiers I have the denon 4400h. I like the fact that it is a sub but at the same time I want to eventually have a dual sub setup and that center channel sub would be a problem in setup. But I love the fact it has that feature though. So question for you. What do you think about SVS speakers and subs? Def tech and SVS are my final 2 companies to choose from but leaning to def tech.

The Demand series now has a center channel, D5c. I ran a comparison between the D5c and CS-9040/9060 using D11 front mains. The D5c is a nice sounding center and very capable if you are not comparing it to the CS-9040 and CS-9060. Both the CS-9040/9060 had a much fuller and richer sound. The D5c, like the D11, are very detailed, with great highs and mids, but both need a proper sub. However, even using an SVS-2000 Pro, there was still a substantial loss of center channel dynamics with the D5c compared to the CS-9040/9060. Just my assessment, but the sound is subjective. Compare for yourself.
@TheSubZero187 Жыл бұрын
I know it’s been a year since you commented this, but I just purchased the D5C and just waiting for it to get shipped. I’m upgrading from the ProCenter 2000 to match my D11s as well. I haven’t been able to find a review for the D5C but is there anything you could say about it?

I have a question. This is a great video however I wish this video addressed the issue of what to do IF you already are using 2 subwoofers and want to add this particular center channel. Especially if you already have Definitive Technology’s BP 9020, 9040, 9060 and the 9080. All of those models have built-in subwoofers. I have the Definitive Technology BP 9040’s with both subwoofers already connected to my AV receiver. I also have the Definitive Technology CS 9040 center channel which does not have a built-in powered subwoofer. As demonstrated, the Definitive Technology CS 9060 center channel speaker has a specific subwoofer connection. My question is: Is that subwoofer connection necessary to allow full functionality of the CS 9060? Please advise, thanks!

So far, I've had the Bp8009 (failed amp), supercube iii subwoofer (failed amp) cs8090 (failed amp), BP9060s (failed amps on both channels). See a pattern? I have my home theater running on a separate phase with clean power. These were all used with a marantz av processor (sr7015) and a B&k 5 channel amp pushing 200 wpc @ 8 ohms. Definitive technology refuses to acknowledge their design flaw and dont take care of their customers. By far the worst customer service as they'll just keep sending you amps and tell you to do the swap yourself. Their CS used to be good when Chet worked there. He understood that people paid thousands for their speakers and would genuinely help the person. Such a shame because when their speakers work, they sound amazing. At this price point, I'd look into other brands like svs etc. From my experience, i can say that SVS has amazing customer service. My advice for anyone considering def tech, run the other way and don't look back. They don't deserve your hard earned money. P.S. if you don't believe me, go read the reviews on Amazon for the 9000 series. 💩💩

Sounds like the speaker is awesome but 700 is a little out of my budget. I believe there are a lot of people who are deficit in the vocal frequency with these surround sounds and I have read articles that it is not only older folks. Other frequency's in these surround systems over power the voice frequency. I wonder if you have done any videos on center channels that would greatly enhance the voice frequencies? If not I was hoping you might do that and make a speaker suggestion. Preferably including one that can be wall mounted. SVS Prime Elevation Speakers. I am looking for a recommendation for a enter speaker for a 7-1 system. I have the following''... "Marantz AV Surround receiver SR7012" (based on your review)- - Outlaw 5000 Power Amp - FRONT SPEAKERS "ENERGY CONNOISSEUR CF-70"- - REAR SURROUND "ENERGY PRO MONITOR 2"- - CENTER SPEAKER ENERGY XL-C1... -Energy 14" sub Thanks again. Are you able to use the Definitive Technology speakers in the same way you would with Sonos? With the AI integration, wireless connectivity and ability to sync with your smartphone and streaming apps / TV / potentially be used a Computer / Music monitors? (granted the Sonos cannot do the latter) So for example, I am building a home theatre setup in my living room as part of the redesign of the house, and I already have a Sonos playbar. I have ordered the Sonos sub and plan to buy 2 Sonos play 1s to use as front left and right channels to create the surround sound, as well as 2 Sonos play 3s to wall mount to use as rear left and right channels. Of course, I can use one of the speakers connected directly to through ethernet, and then synch all the speakers and designate as the living room setup and control from my phone and stream youtube and Spotify to. But I'm a musician so if I can get all the benefits and usability of Sonos but with better audio quality I would rather do that. Would Definitive Tech be able to do that? If so with what products and what apps?
@JeremySiers5 жыл бұрын
Kinda but not with the speakers alone. These speakers are just high end speakers, no built in smart home/AI integration. However since these speakers need to be hooked to an receiver to work, if the receiver you are using has those features you would be good to go. For instance, I have mine hooked up to a Denon receiver that has Bluetooth, WiFi, network streaming, can be controlled with Alexa or google home, tons of connection and networking options. So, yes, you can do lots of smart home integration with these speakers when they are paired with right receiver. The speakers alone will not do all that stuff though. It is just a really dope speaker. Hope this helps.

I upgraded from the cs9060 to the cs9080. Since I have owned both, I can tell you that the problem is not the center as they are both great. Simply go into your AVR and bump up the center a dB. Problem solved. The 9080 has a slightly more pronounced mid base which is what I was after. Denon AVR also has a specific "voice enhance" function which you can turn on, basically does the same thing. This center is so darn powerful that I only bump mine 0.5 dB for difficult to hear dialog such as in any Christopher Nolan film.

I couldn't disagree more. The 9060's, towers and center, really disappointed me. First, the quality was not up to part with older Def Tech speakers. The cloth around the towers and center was cheap and could easily be snagged or torn. Second, I don't know what midrange you were hearing but these things didn't have it. I even turned off the powered subs to see if I was wrong, I wasn't. They all suffered from the same lack of mids. And do not get me started on the powered sub. That thing was worthless. I think part of the problem with it is the placement of it. It just didn't work. I ended up returning them and went to traditional passive towers and center and got dual subs. It just proved what I was, or wasn't hearing, out of the Def Techs was correct. Sorry Def Tech, you lost me with the 9000 series. Which is a shame, because I am a huge Def Tech fan and still have their ProCinema line in my other room, the Cube bluetooth speaker, and 3 cylinders.
