@jonthinks6238 I don't know where you're getting your information (please tell me where you got your information) but I've seen the grappler used on the freeway at speeds much greater than 40 mph. Unless you're talking about a 2 cop town you're definitely wrong about it being too expensive. The unit itself cost $5,000 to install. Replacement nets cost $400 each. How much do you think it would cost to fix a damaged patrol car? Or even worse having to replace the entire patrol car valued at $50,000.

@jonthinks6238 If you watch enough of these pursuits you should have no problem agreeing with me when I say that a pursuit could run into hundreds of thousands of dollars once you add in all the damage that can be done during pursuits. How much does it cost to replace a police officer who gets killed during a pursuit? There's no way you can place a dollar amount on somebody's life. Don't you think that it's about time to to start engaging in the activity that is your username? Because it's clear you didn't do that with your comment.

Most likely the drugs don't just affect them in the moment that they take them, but also start affecting brain functions, like common sense and proper judgment. That, combined with all the money going to the drugs (because even recreational drugs get heckin' expensive since eventually you need more and more per hit to get the same reaction) means the cars aren't getting properly maintained and registration kept up. Not to mention, if they are already breaking the law with the drugs, then what's another law broken?
