Great Review, I don´t take a lot of photos, but I record a lot of videos and this is the only review I found that focuses on video performance :) just ordered this one from BH after watching

Nice informative review. Thank you. Two fixes for your stated short comings; glue a small piece of felt to the inside of the lens cap. That will keep it in place. As to lens shades I see this all the time as if it is some big deal. Aftermarket lens shades are dirt cheap and can be had in rubber collapsible types or aluminum fixed types. None of them are expensive. Lack of a lens hood should never be a bother.

35mm f0.95 MITAKON IS ALSO WORTH LOOKING INTO

Thanks for this info, I didn't know that pressing the dial enlarged the view, and it's very useful. I use an old Fujifilm X-M1 camera, no viewfinder, only lcd screen, and lately I put a really old Fujinon manual lens (50mm, 1:1.6) on it. That's right, "reasoned" photography, not fast and in quantity, I love it.

That's great to hear. This was my first time using a 7Artisans lens and I'm very impressed.

Nice informative video. There are more ultra fast standard primes for Fuji X mount, the Loawa 33/0.95 and Zhongyi Mitakon 35/0.95, but both are more expensive compared to the 7 artisans (arguably the Loawa is the best of the three).

A general question, and I’ll admit I haven’t watched the entire video yet because I have to take my parrot to the vet now. Yeah, I know that sounds like my dog ate my homework, but anyway... Besides the amazingly shallow depth of field you can get...and let’s face it, this speed is getting into ridiculous...do the requirements to make such a lens make it “generally” superior to other lenses across all F stops? So that’s DOF and quality, but as far as speed for DSLRs in low light conditions...with today’s sensors and post processing, do you really “need” such a fast lens, if the price is over the top? Again, pardon me if this has been covered in the video. My bird is screaming to get out of the house.

It depends on your shooting style. If you really love a super shallow depth of field this is a fun lens to play with. It also really helps when shooting with Fujifilm crop sensor cameras since they still aren't the best at shooting in low light compared to full frame cameras.

@@Gemini_Connect Thanks. My mirrorless is full frame, and I was asking it as a general question! You answered it!

How is the focus breathing on video with this lens ?
@Gemini_Connect2 жыл бұрын
Not the best, admittedly. This is really a photography lens more than video.

Good question! Do you prefer a zoom or a fixed focal length? And what's your budget? For a fixed length, I really like the 35mm and 23mm f/2. For a zoom, the 16-55mm f/2.8 is great, but pretty pricey.
