There are some upgrades for SMALLER RIDERS that might be very good. Adjustable brake levers are huge--especially if you plan to feather them for wheelies. Adjustable brake levers have a screw that allows the lever to start out much closer to the bar. SEATS!! OMG This is a huge issue for riders that do spend hours on their bikes. This is trial and error. You can also save a lot of weight.. Also, you want a stem/handlebars that give you the correct performance/comfort reach/height. When you are stretching to reach your bars--it sucks. Finally, the crank. My fixie came with 170mm crank arms--which would be good fit for a 5'10" person. I am 5'2". My little legs are spinning in BIG circles with those 170-mm cranks. I bought 155 replacements. Now, my legs spin in much more comfortable circles. Also, now my toes do not hit the front tire--ever. The more time you spend on your bike, these size/fit upgrades become more important.
