If you visit Hamburg for a bit longer - try to include a visit to the Ohlsdorf cemetery! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohlsdorf_Cemetery A bit strange to try to direct visitors to a cemetery, but this place was from the beginning planned as a huge park - bigger than New York Central Park or the state of Vatican... So big that there are 2 bus lines which only run inside the cemetery. As a lifelong Hamburger, i second what you said about the relation of the city to water. Without WWII the city today would look much more than a bit like a bigger Amsterdam. Many of the old city canals have been filled up with debris from the 60% of all buildings which have been bombed during the war.

Most beautiful part of Hamburg is west to altona train station with many beautiful houses ottense and blankenese are also very pleasant and charming to walk around less tourists but more beautiful. Thank you for the nice video 👍🙂

@@didierbaudot Unfortunately, a lot of charming areas of Hamburg which were not completely destroyed during WWII became victim of our city planners. The renewed Altona train station and some of the living quarters nearby are a negative example.

Hamburg is a wonderful city. In the last 8 years i was 6 times there. But I always visited the miniature wunderland. A must see for every visitor.

Completely agree, it is a wonderful city! We heard from several people that we missed out on the miniature wunderland! We definitely have a reason to go back! Thanks for watching 😄

The best takeaway foods in Germany for me are Currywurst with chips (pommes) or a good Gyros (with tsatsiki and raw onion in a bread pocket, sometimes also chips in there). So many people mention doner kebab these days but for me Gyros is way better.

It's hard to go wrong either way! Such delicious food, especially if you are enjoying some German beers before 😆

I lived there a few years, and was partial to doener, usually in Turkish establishments. That said, the bread and beer are in another universe! I miss both back here in the U.S. You can get some of the beer, but alas, not the bread.

The Elbe is not linked to the Baltic Sea but to the North Sea.

it is linked to both. the northern sea (originally) AND the Baltic sea (artificially) Check out "Brunsbüttel"
@GrouchyBear411 Жыл бұрын
Well... Ships CAN cross over from Hamburg and the Elbe to the Baltic Sea, without entering the North Sea, as the Elbe is linked to the Baltic Sea via a large Canal that can accommodate large vessels, to Kiel. 😊 Smaller Ships can also use the Elbe-Luebeck Kanal, to Luebeck at the Baltic Sea.

Man starts off saying "Hamburg" perfectly fine, but the person speaking over the video generally says "Homburg" throughout ... which is a town in Saarland, close to the French border. At least he didn't go to Edinburgh.
@MaxandSidney2 жыл бұрын
Almost had it! 😂 it’s hard for us not to see “Homburg” because “Hamburg” sounds like our hamburger sandwich 🍔 either way, we absolutely loved Hamburg and can’t wait to come back’
