One of my favorite strategy games. Simple enough that anyone can play, but complex enough where not everyone can win.

So I'm 3 minutes into video...Not hating but sorry to say... Not the best strategy.Even with Egypt. 1) went over the wrong hill to get first friendly village (probably could have named the corner hill and ended up in the same spot) 2) Should have rushed warrior unit immediately after settling if you were not planning to build one (rushed it anyway might as well not waste the first 5-6 turns) 3) in the time you got pottery you could've have 100G and new settler unit. then instead of pottery you study alphabet, rush a library in Thebes gotten masonry and irrigation in the same amount of turns it took just to get masonry (or just skipped masonry altogether. with Thebes making 16 sci and irrigation costing 70 science without masonry that would be 5 turns with just Thebes nevermind the other city. 4) starting with alphabet in that scenario even with good human players you could get irrigation and code of laws first. Either way right after rushing the library you would've been in the same spot as this just with 2 cities instead of 1 and 2x the science in Thebes

No offense but is not the best strategy. Not even close. Your still in 1150 AD. I can win a domination before 2000 BC. I can win a tech, economic and culture victory all before 0 AD.

@@angelomerte923 Use the Americans. Get to code of laws as fast as possible and spam settlers.

@@angelomerte923 When you start move your settler around til you find an enemy city. You can get a walk in with a warrior if you found a hut for 25 gold if you get there before 3700. Then set both cities to science. Research horseback riding. Build a horse army. Take as many enemy capitals as you can. Usually you can get an enemy capital before 2000 with a horseback army. Then research alphabet, writing, code of laws in that order. Spam settlers then.

Idk what I'm doing wrong. I'm ahead in tech, but the enemies expand fast especially the mongols! Than when I thought I'm doing well, mid game all enemies launch a full scale war against me. Than it's so frustrating I GG out. Anyone can help? I play on PS3/360/X1.

The most important tech early is code of laws, always rush to that, this way you can change to republic and build settlers for one population. The quicker you can expand the better

Get a single veteran catapult army to defend your city, it holds them off for centuries. Add the blitz upgrade to attack twice.

This strategy is extremely flawed in MP and in SP there are much better strats. Any strat that involves forgoing 2-3 warriors at 4000bc, walking in on an ai, settler expansion, and/or horseman rushing is obsolete in both SP and MP. A Horseman army would crush this and the Chinese / Americans / Spanish would be way ahead by then. Also tanks at 1200ad is extremely do-able considering I know Joe has a gotten Tech victorie pre 1000ad. I strive to get industrialization by 0AD in MP. You should experiment with building more than one city as one city strats are inferior to expansion strats.

Nemesis Retribution Trust me I know all of those strategies but tbh those strategies are overused and they lack creativity at all. They are very easy to do and involve just getting gold and rushing units with overused civs. They can be very good but I'm trying to use a lesser used strategy also I've beaten plenty of people who rush units with the Chinese and Spanish early in the game. Also this strategy works better online because it's like playing on king difficulty and Deity is much tougher to outwork the CPU than most people online. I understand what you are saying though and I appreciate the feedback!

Im not sure what the intent of the strat is, but going tech first is not a good idea usually because you can essentially research everything at once. As the egyptians it gets hard to do on a completely random map, but it usually goes: find horesback riding, find another civ (preferably romans), found city and bumrush the romans before they can make a warrior (using the gold from exploration to pump out a warrior or horseman), begin killing barbarians and attempt to get a 2nd civ, making sure to make a city every time you get 40 gold. By a few turns you should be able to reach an equilibrium where your city expansion covers the cost of a city (every turn you found so many cities that your profit exceeds the cost of a settler). At this point the game just becomes "cover every surface of the map in cities". This avoids the other civs having any chance of catching up with you, secures domination and basically takes the game from "how to win" to "how to win the fastest"

Like by around 1700 you shouldnt need to research alphabet, you should be researching mid era techs. I was playing as the americans last night and i completely avoided researching alphabet at all and got a tech victory around 1000ad

@@dafr9344 eh, this is more a strat to make thw game comically easy, its used for speedrunning. Essentially you wont need to manage your cities, a good 80% of them will never finish their first building. By the end of the gamr youll have tons and tons of cities covering basically every single piece of land but some of your cities will be large enough to actually produce things. Im not saying anyone has to play like that, but its just a comparatively easy meta to break into and once you learn it you can go from 1800ad+ victories all the way to pre bc victories
