As we get older, our tastes in fashion shifts to align with our true self and not what others think about the way we look.
Despite the efforts of some fashion advisors to set rules women in their 60's are totally ignoring them and doing their own thing. Sixty and Me supports this!!

I like Lands End too. Chico's seems to have nice things for mature women, but I have to admit that I really love the thrift stores. Lots of variety. I've found many useful beautiful items from all the major brands.

Me too… I wear 2 1/2 inch heels to church and when I want to dress up. I constantly hear” how are you wearing high heels at your age?” I answer with “because I’ve never stopped wearing them. I also do balance exercises all during the day. “.

I have an online shop specializing in new/used and vintage women's clothing, accessories and home decor. Best-selling brands are Eileen Fisher, Talbots, Ann Taylor, Anne Klein, Chico's, Exclusively Misook, Christian Dior, Banana Republic, Ellen Tracy, Jones New York, Ralph Lauren, St. John. Eileen Fisher has a retail store here in Chicago. When I was younger, I shopped at Macy's. Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue but now I only shop at thrift stores and estate sales.

At 73, I still love bright colors and arty designs. I make many of my own clothes, still, and have a collection of unique caftans And dresses Ive made over the years. I buy clothing online too, from Ulla Popken, a German company that specializes in plus sizes. They ship orders half way around the world to me in 3-4 days.

Thanks, Margaret, for another fun chat! You always brighten my day. I used to go to J C Penney's for Liz Claiborne and St. Johns Bay. Recently I tried Zu Lily and found some things I really love. I also used to shop a lot on QVC before I retired. It's a toss-up! We just have to look and look for things we love. I also have tried Costco and found jeans by Gloria Vanderbilt. I love the straight leg style. I have also tried NYDJ. they are very comfortable. Thanks for the conversation!!!!

I love LLBean! I bought clothes from LLBean since I was in college and the preppy look was in style. In the 1980s through the 2000s LLBean’s fashion selection went through some really sad transitions but now it’s come back to the outdoorsy classics which they do so well. They offer extended sizes now, too.

I have several tops from L.L.Bean that I love but yes, they are expensive. Only buy what you really love. I recently found an L.L.Bean cowl neck sweatshirt in the thrift store for several dollars, perfect condition too. It's a fairly recent style. Can't wait to wear it

I’m going to mention JCPenney in store and online. Liz Claiborne and St Johns Bay are clothing and shoe lines in JCPenney. Also JCPenney has great clearance items.

I am an Associate at Talbots because I love the clothing. I shopped Talbots most of my professional work life. I have to say that although Talbot's clothing is more classic, they have been doing a great job embracing the trends but in colors and ways that work and look more modern. I also love my coworkers. Have you read about the woman from Canton, Ohio who is 100 years old and works at JoAnn Fabrics? She is turning 101 next week! She looks great and I really applaud her. She said the best part of her job is her coworkers. Another great place for us is the Loft.

I hand stitch my own clothes or buy at the thrift store. I love my clothes and wear them for years. Simple styles and now my hair is more white, I can wear colors that didn't suit me when I had masses of curly black hair and high color. Now I can wear peach, apricot, black, it's great.

I check boutiques when i travel and love thrifting. Fabric is so expensive I gave up making clothes. So many stores only sell clothes that are suitable only for frumps or street walkers! I love to thrift shop, I have some lovely silk and linen pieces. I learned that I have to thrift in a size up because the pieces are old and have some shrinking going on. One thrift store has higher end things in a separate place. Love it.❤

I’m a Costco shopper and often find a good fitting pair of slacks to pair with my Talbots or JJill top. Right now Costco is selling skorts, which are very popular. Just saw a picture of Taylor Swift wearing a denim skort. My one purchase this summer is a pair of shorts from Talbots. They’re baggy with elastic in the waist and they remind me of my father’s underwear. No wonder he wore them… they’re so comfortable. Cool Chico experience! PS: Costco has about 20 stores in the UK. 2 in Paris.

I’m quite enjoying your channel. This is a particularly good video. Now that I’m retired and my wardrobe needs have changed, I have been on a journey to discover/rediscover my personal style. As we gain our “wisdom years,” we also tend to gain a little shift in our figures, even when it isn’t weight gain related. While I will resist forevermore dressing in ways that anybody else determines as “age appropriate,” I do want to find ways to wear the styles I choose in ways that flatter my current figure. I’m especially drawn to the current fascination with the trends of my 1970s youth, and happily, many of those silhouettes still work for me. Age and retirement have set me free from the dictates of others regarding how I need to or “ought to” dress. ❤

I don't shop for clothes much these days, one or two casual pieces as needed and then I find new ways of wearing old clothes with the new additions; in Australia, I like Trenery and COS; in London, I like Toast; I like to knit my own cardigans and pullovers, and am thinking of sewing some simple garments for myself - I think shopping for fabrics and patterns would be fun, must see how I go :)

I wear what I've worn since my early 20s - Jeans, Tees, Jackets, Sweaters. Solid colors - Neutrals and soft Earth tones. I'm 75. In my 20s and 30s, i also wore Dresses which i sewed by hand. These days i don't even own a Skirt - just a couple of Dress Slacks and nice Tops. No Jewelry. The only Patterns are in Scarves. My body hasn't changed much in 50 years - basically the same weight and size, just naturally slim. I buy some things from Lands End - down coats, slacks, jeans. Good quality, well made. When I lived in NYC, I bought Not Your Daughter's Jeans at Filene's Basement, but Filene's has been gone for a long time and I left NYC also. I haven't worn any Makeup since COVID - March 2020. I never wore much, and after the first COVID year, i threw out what i had - ive always replaced Makeup annually. But now, I haven't replaced it.

I’ve purchased coats, tops & shoes at LLBean. The prices are fair. Their store is in Maine & they specialize in sports clothing, the quality is excellent. I buy thru the LLBean catalogue or flyers they mail. They accept returns readily and try to help.

I shop at LL Bean as well; these days, I wear more of a self made uniform that I am in mostly around my house and garden, it makes it easier that way! My more “gussy up” closet has pieces from awhile back but they still work because most are classics! Eileen F, Chaps, JJill, Nordstroms, Duluth Trading Co, Cold Water Creek, Sundance, Peruvian Connection, Naadam. I really do not shop as much these days as I do not have to work outside my home any longer, yippee!❤

I love thrift shopping for sure- it's like treasure hunting, but believe it or no Walmart carries several lines that are really nice quality and very fashionable. Also jewelry plays a Huge part in my looks. I also have crafted a lot of my own. Earrings are a must with every outfit for me.

I basically buy my clothes at Walmart, Sam’s, Costco and on line. I am not a shopper, 69 yrs live rural have livestock and live outside small country towns, no real shopping. I wear T shirt type and jeans. I spend very little on clothes. I do occasionally hit the second hand shops, or places like Ross, TJ Maxx and Marshals. I only want a few good pieces of jewelry, diamonds plain and simple.

I especially like LL Bean clothing. You order through a catalog or online. They have wonderful Tee Shirts, in many many color choices, long-sleeved or short. They also have great jeans, in various waist options. I also like their choices in winter clothing. And if you get their credit card you can make points (called Bean Bucks) which gives you a discount on your next purchase. I've worn their quality clothing for many years!

The Uk has so much to offer M&S, Next, John Lewis even the grocery stores like Sainsbury and Tesco have great affordable clothes. I follow Helen Mary Jo she is in the UK. And she does a lot for clothes hauls and she finds some lovely stuff that are suitable for older woman.

The only trouble with these stores is that you will see a lot of people in the same thing. If you can find a boutique you like the clothes will be a little bit different and they still sell things at varying price ranges.

Macy's can be fairly good, with their Charter Club brand. (less expensive). J. Crew was one of my career faves in the past, although somewhat expensive. LL Bean is good source for quality. Also, Orvis and Pendleton brands have good quality. And don't forget Eddie Bauer for durable casual & outdoor clothes. Love their flannel shirts and weatherproof jackets.

I love to shop Land’s End and LL Bean! (Plus, they have terrific sales.) Their styles are classic and comfortable…why not look good and feel good at the same time? My clothing and makeup choices are simple…less is more. My (clothing) foundation color is navy and to that I can add a pop of color…usually pink as I am crazy about pink-not only does it complement my coloring, but it just makes me feel happy and alive. Also, I am big on accessories….small silk scarves and anything pearl! Pearls, whether a strand or earrings, add instant elegance to ANYTHING. As I recently turned 60, I was thinking that I should stay away from “shimmer” or “glowy” makeup (which I love) and then I watched a few of Margaret’s makeup tutorials…THANK YOU, Margaret, for setting me straight on that…I love a bit of a shimmery eye! I just discovered Roman online from the UK. Another favorite is Chadwicks of Boston mail order which I discovered when working full time. A real treasure is Nordstrom gift shopping suggestions online. Loved Macy's travel size skincare offerings. Includes the skin care steps plus mascara or another trial size makeup. Really helpful. Amazon has really cute fall dresses.

I shop Talbots, Eddie Bauer, Ann Taylor and Land's End (Bathing suits are great), and NYDJ. We have outlet stores (30 mi away) on all but Land's End. I order Land's End online. I shop Macy's too, but their Petites, which I am, are not that attractive , but the shoes are pretty good. Ebay has some great deals on classic clothes too.

I generally dislike shopping for clothes (get overwhelmed with the abundance at most stores)...so I gravitate toward thrift shops ( less choice) and have often ended up with many of the brand's that you mentitioned.
