I remember my cousin playing this song in the car when I was a teenager. At first I was confused because all I listened to was hip hop up until that point. Growing up in the hood, it wasn’t “cool” to listen to this type of music. And my cousin was a hipster so he didn’t give a fuck about what people thought lol. Anyway, when he was playing this song at first I was laughing at him (me being a immature teenager), but something clicked in my brain, I felt something in my soul from hearing this song. He had all the windows down, it was a summer night in the city, and he was blasting this song without a care in the world, singing it word for word. All eyes were on us, and he just didn’t care. It was that level of confidence right there that would go on to change not only my music taste, but my life. It taught me a valuable lesson in life, that lesson is to not give a fuck about what people think about you. To just be yourself! Be different! He doesn’t even know this story, and we barely talk now, but man I wish he knew! This song will forever be legendary to me!

I listened to this song in 2010 while on holidays on the beach in Gold Coast, Australia, in 39C heat while the stand storm was hitting my calves and this song felt exactly like this. A LoFi sand haze carried on the hot wind, on a sun drenched pale beach, turquoise ocean, bending palm trees while cars driving nearby melting asphalt pavement. I will love and cherish this track forever. Thank you Best Coast.

I know exactly how you feel, I play in a band that practises in a warehouse right near the exact scene you're describing. This song also reminds me of the day I left hawaii, and I was on the freeway suspended above the houses. I could see people's yards and fences and that was the last thing I really saw in Hawaii before flying back to Sydney.
