The funky sour vibe is due to exposure to heat/Sun. It happens with many fragrances containing vanilla, Tonka and other sweet notes. For example try wearing tonka imperiale on your arm then expose it to sunlight for a while. Also happened with me with tom ford lost cherry, xerjoff Italica. Certain gourmands generally .

I’ve just purchased Ristretto as a blind buy. I had also already owned the regular Intense Cafe. Upon spraying I do get a little coffee. But unlike many of the YT reviews, it is not a very Coffee dominant note. The coffee note disappears after 15-30 minutes. It is then when to my nose both the Ristretto and the regular IC smell quite similar. And no, it is not the case that one is more rose dominated than the other. To my note, both have very similar rose strength. I’m short, Ristretto and the original versions overlap 90% upon spraying. After one hour of wear, they are hard to tell apart.

Ristretto is a short shot of espresso made with a usual amount of ground coffee but grinded more finely and extracted with less water in the same amount of time. So ristretto is a more concentrated, but also lighter tasting shot of espresso.

i love this, my wife loves this. i have not had any funky experiences, and so far, i find it to be an awesome fragrance. one of my first try's at niche, i was not disappointed. i have not double sprayed (hit the same spot twice) and so far its a winner.

Montales Intense Cafe is already POTENT,I sprayed twice and it lasted 24 hours so I can just imagine how POTENT the RISTRETTO is.....After hearing your PROS and CONS that's why I ALWAYS SAMPLE FIRST,I just don't like throwing money away,great review my man.....

Just blind bought it online super cheap! I’m from the Netherlands and got the 100 ml for 89€ - 15% discount so like 75€. Every store in Holland sells them for like 120-150€. And Notino, were i ordered it is one of my favorite cheap online stores 100% authentic! Sometimes they’re the most expensive but 9/10 they’re the cheapest haha.

@@E.Nnn89 heb via parfumado 8 ml Arabians tonka besteld. Ik vind hem te heftig persoonlijk. Krijg er hoofdpijn van zo sterk. Na het douchen en goed schrobben bleef hij toch hangen. Alleen de vanille, toen Fleur du male eroverheen gelayerd en die combinatie was perfect! 👌🏻 dus ga hem nu gebruiken met 1 spray pols en dan goed over elkaar wrijven en 1 spray nek en dan goed uitsmeren om daarna Fleur du male erover heen te layeren 😂 maar zonder dollen na 48 uur en 2 x douchen rook ik nog steeds die vanille op m’n polsen 🤣

I got my bottle last Tuesday, and it was love at first sniff. It's everything I hope the original intense café would be when I tried that. It lasted all day on me until I washed it off. So I've no idea just how long it will last , but it's gone a noticeable 16 hours on me 👌 I've only worn it twice but I've not experienced that jeckly & Hyde on my skin thankfully 🙏 Appreciate the honesty as always 👌

I had a similar experience with Gallagher Fragrance - Carpe Cafe, at first it smelled amazing on my skin, then after a while off and on it would smell like burnt coffee, old wet coffee grounds, dirt, etc.

I think the funky smell depends on the temperature. Extreme gourmands can smell bad in high temperature.

Ashton, have you ever sampled Montale's Fruit of the Musk ? Just wondering if other people have a problem with that one. I have their Patchouli Leaves & Santal Wood. from Montale. I like the opening to Patchouli Leaves, but it goes hyper sweat on me. Santal Wood is supposed to be wood that's been adrift, I think. I have real sandalwood now in my collection. Not sure what type of sandalwood is in Montale's one, but I like my other sandalwood I have much better. Plus Santal Wood ghost on me, and it does do the same thing . Smells goods, then doesn't. Very strange. Keeping it real.

Curious. What's your process for washing off a fragrance? I find simple soap and scrubbing with a wash cloth or scrubby doesn't remove most fragrances completely. Rubbing alcohol? Pumice?

Pierre montale can not blend properly. Ive got honey aoud and cedrat boise and it's there, even in his better fragrances. His perfumes are blocky, one block of notes then another. U smell the seams
