A 20 degree bag doesn't mean you'll be warm at 20. There's survival ratings and comfort ratings. Give ALL information

Agreed - definitely won't be comfy at 20 in a 20 bag, but probably cozy down to mid 30s. For anyone who may not know who is reading this, the temperature rating means you'll survive at that temperature unless it specifies that it's a comfort rating. My zero degree bag is cozy down to about 20 but a bit chilly any lower.

@@MisfitsFiendClub138 Absolutely. There is an obvious difference in real world reviews and marketing hype by folks who do not use the equipment on real expeditions.

@@sarahcherry7341 wrong as well. Manufacturers choose what number they advertise. Some brands will give the true comfort rating while others may give the survival rating

These are all warm weather bags, here in Canada it drops below 0 degrees all the time and for any sort of winter camping you need a bag that will be good to at least -20 degrees if not -40 degrees

Yeah I think it's funny to see summer bags called cold weather, when those bags would kill you if you used them in the fall in montana let alone the winter.

Will combining two bags, one inside the oher, provide adequate insulation for cold weather sleeping? Cold weather: 40 degree.

Two bags will definitely provide enough warmth. But at 40° you should only require a single bag. 40° is not really considered cold weather camping, unless you live in Florida. When I bought my winter bag 35 years ago to test it out I went down to my local state park, laid my closed cell foam pad on the ground, laid my bag on top of it climbed in and went to sleep. When I woke in the morning I was covered in 6 inches of snow but was warm and cozy. Now that’s how to test a winter bag.

Ive always put my sleeping bag on the outside of the pack, mainly because the compression sacks i use are waterproof and it saves a ton of space inside the pack. Also theolynn, packs in general are rarely waterproof so idk where you were going with that. Thats why they include a rain cover which can also easily go over an externally mounted sleeping bag

For WINTER camping, the advice in this video is pretty bad. I hope nobody follows the information in this video without doing more research.
