Tips for no swell washer (front loader) 1) leave door open with a rolled/folded towel over the door , 2) Push towel down inside bottom of gasket to get the pooled water out; 3) pull out soap drawer and dry the compartments AND the opening the drawer goes in.
@DirtFarmerJay3 жыл бұрын
Also, be sure to drain out the excess water from the tube inside the plastic door on the outside of the front of the washer. That drains the water that is left over in the drum and prevents it from becoming stinky. Best to you, Dirt Farmer Maggie

Interesting! Helpful information about these products. Would the borax possibly take the color out of clothing like the Clorox?
@DirtFarmerJay3 жыл бұрын
Borax acts much more like an oxygen bleach rather than chlorine. It's much gentler and acts as a detergent booster and gentle stain remover. You won't have problems with it degrading colors - just use the amount shown on the package. I hope this helps! Best, DFJ

So do I need a separate detergent with Clorox colors or can it be used alone to wash my clothes?
@DirtFarmerJay4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and writing! I got this directly off Clorox's website: To use Clorox 2® for Colors in a high-efficiency washer, use the detergent dispenser to add the laundry detergent and the color safe bleach together in the same compartment. Always match the product forms: use liquid color safe bleach with liquid detergent, and powdered color safe bleach with powdered detergent. I hope that helps! Best, DFJ

I don't know if you know why, but I washed my clothes with dark jeans and overtime the color bled to everything else, and while using Clorox 2 it made everything splotchy Is this normal when it's working? Or whats going on here- Edit: Splotchy as in the darker color and original color is almost tie-dyed if that makes sense
@DirtFarmerJay Жыл бұрын
I've not heard of this happening before, and it has not happened to us. Here's a link to the Chlorox 2 learning page, hopefully there is something that can help you: www.clorox.com/learn/color-safe-bleach-for-colored-clothes/ As an aside, what you describe sounds like the dye "redistributing". For some reason, the dye is letting go partially and going into solution, but then "reattaching" to the garment. Where the jeans name brand jeans that you believe would have quality dye used? Double check the quantity of Chlorox 2 you are using as well to assure you are not using too much. A little goes a long way in these high efficiency machines. Best, DFJ

So darks are typically cold washed, but, it take high heat to make the color safe bleach’s activate… doesn’t that defeat the purpose? What would be effective using cold water?
@DirtFarmerJay2 жыл бұрын
We found a new product called "Swash" . One squirt per load. The bottle automatically meters out the right amount. You can buy it on line. It's about 4 cents per load to use. Best to you, Dirt Farmer Maggie.

Quick question. Does peroxide type bleaches breakdown colors as well?
@DirtFarmerJay2 жыл бұрын
Robert, peroxide bleaches clean in different way that is not destructive to color dyes, and are commonly referred to as "color-safe" bleaches. I hope that helps! Best, DFJ

If i may ask,what are components of hydrogen peroxide bleach
@DirtFarmerJay Жыл бұрын
This is right off the label of a bottle of Clorox 2 for Colors and is the first 5 ingredients listed: Water, hydrogen peroxide, myristamine oxide, alkylbenzene sulfonic acid, and fragrance.

Which compartments of the LG front loader do you place the oxy or borax?
@DirtFarmerJay3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting V Parker. Put the booster with your powdered laundy detergent in the detergent section in the drawer. The machine will wet the detergent and the booster at the same time. We recommend only powdered detergent as liquids contain tallow which is an animal bi-product and will find it's way into small areas inside the washer, then rot, then STINK. Best to you, Dirt Farmer Maggie.
@vparker69533 жыл бұрын
@@DirtFarmerJay oh...I guess when I run out of liquid...I better make the switch to powered detergent. But I love my fabric softer.
@DirtFarmerJay3 жыл бұрын
@@vparker6953 Even the cheapest powdered detergent will work better than the liquid without stinking. I have switched to dryer sheets. I put two in with a normal load and it makes the clothes softer and smell better. Unfortunately the lquid softener will keep the stink going! Best to you, Dirt Farmer Maggie
@DirtFarmerJay3 жыл бұрын
Put the Oxy or Borax in with the powdered detergent.
@vparker69533 жыл бұрын
@@DirtFarmerJay looks like once my fabric softener runs out, I'll be making the switch to just dryer sheets also. I've got some major converting to do on my end. But I faithfully dry out the door, rubber ring, dispense, and drain the water from the bottom EACH AND EVERY TIME I finish my last load!

Why use these and not actual peroxide?
@DirtFarmerJay Жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. I did some further research on this, and it seems that there are many people that do just that. There are other ingredients in color-safe bleaches that help the product work efficiently, as well as giving it a scent that some people find desirable. Having said that, there are several people online that have stated that they are successfully using hydrogen peroxide directly in their wash by adding a cup of peroxide in the tub with each wash. It would think you'd want to dilute it in a pitcher of water just to be safe. Also, you might want to test it on some of the articles in a non-visible spot if you are concerned with colorfastness. How does this tell us which is the BEST color safe bleach? I feel like I was suckered into wasting ten minutes by a misleading title. This describes different uses of bleach not which ones work the best. Clickbait title. Good information but not about the best color safe bleach.
@DirtFarmerJay2 жыл бұрын
Axle F - fair enough. There was no intended deceit on my part. The reality is that there is a diversity of opinion on the best color-safe bleach product, with supporters and detractors of various brands. I'd value your opinion. What would be a better, more accurate title? Something like, "Color-Safe Bleach Line Up" or "Head to Head Color Safe Bleach Comparison" or ???? Please weigh in. Best Regards, DFJ
