i have an 87 yanmar 226d with just under 1000 hours. i have the loader, a snowplow, rear blade and brush hog. it works good. it has a JD cab on it, painted red.

Well that depends. I had a Kubota. In the computer died twice. Both times the company insisted the computer go back to Japan before honoring the warranty. Each occurrence had the machine out of commission for 3 months. When the computer failed the 2nd time, the replaced it and voided the warranty with 2 years still on it. The dealer told me if I lost the computer again it would cost me $2500. I traded it for a Massey that day

Another great feature I noticed is the ROPS hinges are down low allowing you to park a ~60hp tractor inside a standard 7ft garage, not so with many other brands, they’re too tall.

This tractor with (finally GEAR-DRIVE) for features,capabilities, &price beats them all. Branson,Badboy,Case IH, LS,John Deere,Kioti,Kubota,Mahindra,New Holland,RK-TYM, are the lesser in at least 3 categories by comparison. Only Massey-ferguson's 1800m series exceeds in ALL but One,(slightly less weight). All are lossers by hydraulic flow( M-F exceeds ALL Others by 20% with 12.6 gpm for the implements)plus 12×12 Power-Shuttle,& console mounted loader valve. All that( my research, hands on & 2 1/2 cents worth)is why my next (#4) tractor will be a Yanmar or Massey-ferguson. Presently own A Kubota & 2 Massey-fergusons. Maybe l just like the color ( sunburst-red-aka M-F red). Thank you Sir for such an informative and well presented Vidio. Time to scrape up some more cash for the" new tractor-wish-list". Happy safe tractoring Sir .

Yanmar almost has the perfect tractor. If they didnt change anything on this tractor and added a hydrostatic transmission, id trade my YT-235 in on it in a heart beat!

​@@JohnSmith-dj5gfbecause it's fifty grand. Most homestead folks don't have that kind of dough and they just want a 235 that weighs 3800 pounds and lifts 2000 lbs. This is why TYM and Kioti shine because they offer weight and fel capacity in a small frame/ HP at a very competitive price. I almost pulled the trigger on the 235 but was disappointed in the plastic hood , lack of chassis weight and fel capacity. Other than that I believe the 235 is a solid tractor as far as engine, transmission and reliability.

Does this tractor require that diesel exhaust fluid? If so, are there electronics that reduce or inhibit it's operations when there DEF runs out?

No DEF used or required. The YM series has a passive regen-function cannister that is basically unnoticeable IF the tractor is often operated in the 1800 RPM range. Gotta keep the engine and exhaust heat to a sufficient level for the YM's passive regen to do it's thing. Also: Not to Dis anyone, but you folks that still think Hydrostat is a "good" thing don't/haven't owned enough tractors yet. Go gear-drive. Hydro is one big pump that robs power and adds a lot of initial AND maintenance cost, and if you fry your Hydrostatic Transmission your whole tractor is scrap. Hydro sounds good to the uninitiated and is therefore a big hit with the marketing department, but that's about it's only positive contribution.

@@wrs840 something does not any sense, you said it does not require def but then you said it regens. Diesel engine that regen require def. The purpose of regening is Diesel fuel being dumped into the particles materials filter to burn of carbon. Would you care to elaborate on this?

I had a gear drive New Holland and I was used to that as all I ever drove back in the 60's-70's. With the F/R on this tractor it would still be great on loader work without the maintenance of a hyrdo set up.

@@johnweymouth5685 not quite right. Under 75hp tractors that regen do it by cooking the particulates off, and do not use DEF. Over 75 hp tractors require DEF.

@@wrs840everyone was telling me go hydro, but then i drove a gear shift... it was easy, and i could crawl at 1mph, or go 30mph. F/b function super easy. And i absolutely hate the whining hydro makes.

You can down size the hydraulic fluid to the steering and put more to your buckets and rear attachments… the steering doesn’t need 5.3 hydraulic pressure… steering from what I’ve learned you only need like 1 hydraulic fluid pressure or less for the steering so you’re wasting a lot of hydraulic pressure on the steering when not needed…

Just a heads up. I bought a ym342 and ordered their 3rd function kit, it is not a true 3rd function kit it is a diverter valve. So as of now I am in the process of seeing if the YT series kit will work on the YM series.

All factory kits are diverters. We’ve installed them on gobs of machines. The YT3 kit is also a diverter.

Stay away from a Kioti. Had so many issues with my CK3510SE. Sure wished I chose differently. 130 hrs on it and has been back to the dealer 5 times. Dealer and Kioti support is the worst I've ever dealt with.

The gold wheels are because of Ferrari. The designer of the Yanmar tractors is the same designer of the Ferrari Enzo. Ken Okayama I believe is his name.

Got rid of my Yanmar(s) just because of "rebranding", remember Solis ? and now some other off Brand tractor with a Yanmar name AND what about the crappy dealers near me, what happened to the "performance link technology" where major components were engineered to work together ??. Must be hard times at this company to transition from selling high quality Japanese machines to rebranding to increase sales. Good luck peeps and get some spare parts while you can.

Yanmar is doing better than ever, they've been ranked number one in quality and parts reliability, for 5 years running. Sorry to hear the dealers around you aren't very good. Solis and Yanmar were never the same tractor brand, they simply made Solis tractors red to match Yanmar and then sold them at some of the dealerships in America. Yanmar still remains the leader in compact diesel engines and are in all of the John Deere Subcompact and Compact tractors under 60hp.

Beautiful tractors but hopefully they sell out to Mahindra or Kubota so we can get dealer support and product to look at when buying new. Mine were good rigs just no dealers or support, now someone else can enjoy the poor ownership experience I had

I would never buy a tractor with the fuel tank under the frame. The fuel tank being in a vulnerable place really is a deal breaker. That would be damaged in 5 minutes on my property.
