I saw a few comments about troubles with dark circles and creasing, so I figured I would share my routine since I struggle with that too, as well as dry undereyes. It's long, meticulous and a little ridiculous, but might be helpful for anybody struggling to get concealers to work for them. There are two likely causes of concealer issues, 1 you are using too much product (this is super easy to do under the eyes!), or 2 you need more hydration when blending. Here's what I do: Take a tiny amount of a full coverage concealer. Like, an actual dot from the doe foot. Use less than you think you need! I put one tiny dot in my inner corner where it's very blue, one along my inner bag area under my eyes, and one at the outer corner of my eye. Take your finger or a brush and move the product around gently. Focus on moving the product from your inner eye down and a little out (you can go onto your upper cheek), and the product from your outer eye up and out to lift. Then, take a lightly damp beauty sponge (wet it, squeeze it out, and dry it with a towel) and press the concealer into your skin. You can keep using the sponge until you feel like it's melted into your skin. Also!! If you have discoloration, the best thing you can do is use a color corrector. My absolute favorite is the Bobbi Brown corrector sticks because the texture is pretty much invisible. Use this before your concealer and again use less than you think you need and blend it into your skin with a brush or finger. I use a peach color corrector in my very dark blue areas in my inner corner, and a pink one where I have brown and yellow under my eyes and my outer corner. Also, for very dark undereye circles, make sure to use a concealer shade closer to your foundation color. On the Internet you see a lot of advice to use really light shades under the eyes, and this can really emphasize bags and darkness, so I try to use concealer that's just the tiniest bit lighter than my foundation color. This method gives your concealer a boost by cancelling out discoloration first so you don't need as much product. And then the sponge adds more hydration and really melts it into your skin. If you use a buildable concealer you can repeat the above process with a second very thin layer to get even more coverage. Use tiny dots!! Then once the concealer has been sitting for a minute, I go over it with my finger or sponge once more to pat in any concealer that settled into my lines while it was setting. If I'm not using a self setting concealer, I like to use a very light small fluffy brush and apply pat McGrath undereye powder or any very invisible non-drying powder (my other fave is loose powder from Saie). You can even use a fluffy brush for eyeshadow, just get something very fluffy and use a tiny bit of powder. Also make sure you patted in any lines right before you put on the powder. If I want to bake for super long wear, I take my damp sponge and put it right into the powder and place that on my undereye, then dust off with a fluffy brush. This will make your undereyes a bit more dry but it'll last longer. My favorite concealers to use are these: New Huda concealer, it's my dream concealer! It's so light and blurring but has high coverage and is buildable. Also I love the Josie Maran concealer for more hydration, and makeup forever hd that Mallory mentions it's so good, and for very high coverage makeup forever also has one called "high coverage concealer" which is great, and it cosmetics bye bye under eye is a beast too (just read the directions for this one and be really careful not to use too much). I hope that helps anyone else feeling like they really need concealer but also it never looks good. Now with this method I always feel happy with how my undereyes look, which is an incredible thing after years of struggling. Wishing you all the best ❤️

My favourite concealer as someone with extremely dry skin and occasionally eczema on my face is the glossier stretch concealer. Its the only concealer i know i can 100% count on to never cling or exaggerate to dry flaky skin. It’s the concealer i know will work irrespective of the condition of my skin, i have plenty of other favourites but none are quite as reliable as this one. I highly recommend it if you have undereyes/skin that really dry to the point you can’t really use powder. The glossier stretch concealer doesn’t actually set, it can sometimes move about (really easy formula to reblend or reapply) but thats not my main priority with concealer. This video is great, you’ve got me really interested in checking out the laura mercier concealer, it looks really creamy and moisturising!

Nars Soft matte is such a surprising one. For me, it works really well in the summer when my skin is a more “normal” kinda dry, really holds its own in the heat and humidity and doesn’t wear off or break down. Preforms shockingly well on me for a matte concealer. Its also my go to for quick no makeup /makeup ….love how it diffuses into bare skin, especially using a fluffier eyeshadow brush.

Mallory, No matter what I do concealers crease on me. Iv tried setting, baking, not setting, super creamy formula, matte formula, hydrating…. I tried the hourglass and it was terrible on me. I have nars, it’s nice but creases. I hate setting with powder bc I feel like it dries me out and I have tried so many setting powders and nothing works. Do you think the make up forever would work. FYI I use an eye serum, then the kiehls avocado eye cream and then an oil. I tried the OleHenrikesn vitamin c and it destroyed my under eyes so I’m still healing. If you can recommend it would be most awesome!! FYI you look beautiful love the eye look and lips!!

Heather I used to have this problem too. I have dry, somewhat textured undereyes with bags, very dark circles, and mid -30s fine lines starting. @@oceanbird. thanks so much!! I feel like I have tried everything. I started using less concealer but obviously I’m using too much since it creases with concealer in my lines in less than 5 min. I will use less and I use a pink/ orange blush for my corrector. The Pat MG powder cracked and settled sooo much so does the Dior back stage and the Jouer, bite beauty and ilia powders all crack and separate. I was at Sephora today and my under eyes looked like the Sahara desert. I added La roche posay b5 balm right over my concealer it helped but I’m dry again!!! What the heck. What eye cream do you use? Why do you like the gifs one? I’m using lancome ( the new one) or ilia or saie or kosas. I used kosas today and set and it looked terrible.
@oceanbird.
@oceanbird. 2 жыл бұрын
@@heathercordova2888 I actually hate the kosas concealer. I could never get it to work, it made my undereyes look so dry too!! Everybody online loves it, but it did nothing for me. And the colors were so bad on me, plus it goes bad in like 3-6 months. And I also hate the ilia, the Saie, and the lancome concealers. I've tried all of those bc everybody says they're so good, but none of them worked for me. Then I started trying ones that didn't have as much hype and that's when I found the ones I like. Although the Huda totally has a lot of hype, but for good reason imo. How are you applying the Pat McGrath powder? Do you blend in your concealer really well with a damp sponge, then let it sit for a minute first? If you powder when your concealer is too wet then it will catch too much powder and cake up. Try using a fluffy little eyeshadow brush with the pat McGrath powder, just barely touch it with the brush, then tap the brush off, then apply it to your undereyes.
@oceanbird.
@oceanbird. 2 жыл бұрын
@@heathercordova2888 also, you asked why I love something but I think autocorrect changed it. Did you mean the Huda faux filter concealer? If so, I love it because the texture is super thin so you can barely see it, but it's still blurring and has great coverage. And you don't need to set it with powder. So I think that could be one you could try and not use powder with it. For undereye prep I use a ton of hydration in my skincare routine. And I sometimes change my eye cream and it doesn't seem to have too much effect. I've had good luck with biossance eye gel and cream, as well as a handful of kbeauty eye creams. Underneath that I use a hydrating serum (anything with hyaluronic acid, or one I've been loving is the biossance rapid hydrating serum with copper peptides), then I layer on stratia liquid gold mixed with a light squalane oil, and a gel moisturizer on top of that. I put that all over my face and eyes, then the eye cream just on my eyes. It's all about layering hydrating watery stuff, then thicker oily stuff on top to seal it in. Maybe adding some hydrating steps to your routine would help? Also if you're not getting enough water every day I feel like the undereyes are the first place to show it

@@heathercordova2888 I wish you could send me a video of your routine lol! It would be so much easier to help you if I could see what you're doing. Try one of the concealers I listed and use the sponge trick and way less product, let it set for a minute, tap out any lines with your finger, then powder with the tiniest bit of the PMG powder. Or if you try the Huda one you don't need to powder

@@donnadrane4977 do you ever watch Wayne Goss? He just posted a video which might help. It's about bags under the eyes and how to deemphasize them. You might want to check that out! Otherwise I would say it sounds like you're not using concealer with high enough coverage. I have very dark blue/purple/red Irish circles and I struggle to cover them too. I use Bobbi Brown concealer sticks first, then the highest coverage concealer I can get. If you have blue or green, go for peach color corrector. If you have red or brown, try a pink corrector. I actually use a tiny bit of both, peach in my inner corner where it's most blue, and pink in my outer eye where it's most brown to brighten it up. Another tip is to get a darker concealer shade, one closer to your skin tone. Don't go for the bright shades like they recommend on the Internet, too bright of an undereye just emphasizes dark circles and bags. Try to get one that's just very slightly lighter than your foundation color. Here are the concealers I love: Huda beauty faux filter concealer. It's a dream! It's so blurring and light under the eyes but it's high coverage. And you can put on several thin layers to get higher coverage. Also the makeup forever "full cover concealer" might get you the coverage you need. It's different from the hd skin one that Mallory mentions. I like that one but the full cover one has even more coverage. Also the other one is bye bye under eye from IT cosmetics which is super full coverage (follow the directions on that one and don't use too much!). Also, I just posted another comment on this video with my concealer routine. It's very detailed, but it changed my life since I felt the same way as you for years, and now I love concealer and it works like a dream for me with this method. I'm wishing you the best luck from one dark undereye beauty to another ❤️
