1. Primer - primer or base cream to moisturise - prevents dryness. 2. Foundation/SPF tint - Do not swipe it on, it causes streaking/patching. Use a bouncy damp sponge, dabbing the product that is on the back of the hand onto your face. 3. Concealer - light to medium coverage. Put a bit of concealer in the corner, below eye divot but not close to the under eye area. Use dry q tips to get rid of excess concealer under the lash line area to prevent creasing. 4. Powder - baking technique creates thick layers of cakiness - very unflattering. Use a (press) powder and rub off onto hand before putting some under the eye and nose crease area. 5. Contour - dab contour on hand, then swirl your brush into it. Disperse product by bouncing brush along contour lines (angled dense brush) in a controlled manner. 6. Blush - put blush on the back of hand, dab brush into it, smile and put above cheekbone extending slightly to the hairline. You can use some on eyelids for a cohesive look. 7. Brows - Beware of the laminated look, use a light hand brushing hair up and out so it's stiff but natural. Filling in eyebrows slowly with hairstrokes in sparse spots. 8. Lashes - ensure they are curled and then use a brown/black mascara (depending on eye colour) and make sure to get rid of clumps. 9. Lip liner - lip balm, sharpen lip liner and trace lip shape and top off with lip gloss/stick. 10. Highlight - put on back of hand, use fingers and put on high points.

@abbyneff2 ай бұрын
You're so right. I leaned into the eye catching title for views and never really clarified in the video that I believe makeup is an art and I want to help motivate creativity. However there are ways to really amplify natural features. That was really what I wanted it to be about.
@laurenj432Ай бұрын
I think the ‘right/wrong way is incredibly helpful for those of us who like our makeup to enhance our natural features va distract from them. The right side looks a bit more eccentric, and strong which is a perfectly fine way to do makeup because makeup is an art form. But I also feel like the kind of people who like their makeup to look well, like makeup wouldn’t be the type to click on the video on the first place, because they do whatever makeup they want. It’s the same for fashion advice. A lot of fashion and makeup advice is based on ratios and proportions of what looks most flattering or natural to the eye rather than clash with your natural features, but if someone doesn’t care about looking natural then the advice isn’t really for people like them, it’s for people like us who love a natural look but don’t know how to achieve it.

I agree with absolutely everything except the mascara placement thing. When a person has a longer midface (which you don’t), a bit of mascara on the lower lashline can help to create the illusion of a more balanced face. I can do a nice everyday look, but I like to experiment with makeup. Also, I'm super oily, so dewy anything ends up looking like the bottom of a frying pan on me.

As a person with extremely oily skin, I have tried all types of moisturizers and primers. Every single one has caused my makeup to shift throughout the day. There ARE a large number of moisturizing products I CAN'T use due to the fragrances. This is a huge issue with the beauty community, because the vast majority of the products that are suggested contain perfumes. That leaves people like myself, who get migraines, or people with very sensitive skin, at a major disadvantage. I have had excellent luck with NARS light reflecting foundation. It goes on directly without shifting, and although it has a slightly dewy look, it doesn't ever look oily or cakey. Also, as a person with extremely oily skin, I do not ever use powder! It causes makeup to crack, especially around the eyes and forehead. I use NARS foundation, Clinique chubby stick cream blush, and recently discovered that Wet 'n Wild has a line of gel lip liners that stay all day (seriously, even when eating and drinking). There are sadly only a few colors, but the name is Perfect Pout. Now, if anyone has a suggestion for eyeliner that stays all day on super hooded eyes and very, very oily skin, I would love to hear about it. The only place I wear primer is on my eyelids, but it doesn't help a whole lot. All liquids crust off within an hour, and pencils smear and have to be fixed throughout the day!
@labaccident2010Ай бұрын
I’ve had to fight to get diy eyeliners made with the inglot duraline off even using oil based makeup removers. My eye area is also really oily. I don’t know if that would help you though. It’s what i use for all my eyeliner now since everything else would just disintegrate with the oil around my eyes.

I’m not sure anyone would do all what you called “wrong”. Using a foundation brush is not wrong, you just have to know how to use it and no you can tap the brush. I’m with you about using products like contour or liquid blush directly on the face. But honestly does anyone use the brush the way you did on the wrong side? I doubt about that. Also the black mascara and how you think looks on you is absolutely personal and depends on the person’s complexion and preference. Frankly calling it wrong is wrong. People have different skin types and discoloration with dark under eyes. Less is always better. Who bakes these days I wonder. Setting powder is always better than pressed for under eyes…. What’s important is how much and the method you use to apply. Anyway appreciate your opinion.

I am going to try not to write too much. I freelance and do not mean this as harsh criticism, but I do want to point out something. The correct and incorrect sides may have been done better with the same products. For example, when you used powder, if you show how one of the powders worked on both sides, it would be a better way of showing different techniques. To bake on a side that wasn’t moisturized, where we would expect it to be caked on and heavy, while the other side was lightly powdered on moisturized skin. Then you blame the product rather than the technique. I do own both powders and use them on different clients for different purposes. Basically, the purpose of the video was to be focused on techniques. Although I do not use baking technique every time, I think there’s a time and place for it.

I find that doing makeup that looks good in person looks "meh" on camera & going too overboard & fake for in-person looks excellent on camera. It's very common. Same reason why people go downright clownish for stage makeup in theater. I bet the "right side" looks WAY better than the "wrong side" in person.

I agree with a lot of things but hard disagree on the Huda Beauty powder. For a natural makeup baking makes no sense. Just put some of the powder on the back of the hand, dab the puff in, buff some powder into the hand to get excess powder off, and then gently buff it into the skin. I guess you can put it only under the eyes and nose, but if you work all day it’s more efficient to lightly set the entire face. You control how much powder you use cause you can just tap powder into the back of your hand before going in on your face.. Unless you have oily skin you really only need a little. It gives you a natural filtered effect and lasts all day, without breaking the bank. So far this is the only powder I found that ticks all these boxes.
@abbyneff2 ай бұрын
I've tried it in so many different ways and it makes my skin look the opposite of flawless. Looks so heavy and shows the makeup under it/ the texture of my skin AND makes my wrinkles appear in places they aren't even really there :/ I wish it worked for me! I did a few videos on my tiktok where i tested it different ways and you could really see how it doesn't work. (Personally)

The first thing after skincare is sunscreen! There’s no amount of makeup that will if you don’t first take care of your skin. The second thing is clean tools! I understand your thinking when making this video, but someone with an oily complexion would be an oil slick within 3 hours doing their makeup “ the right way “.

Her makeup has spf in it. Also if a person is that oily they usually are imbalanced and don’t use shin care. As an esthetician and nurse I see this a lot. They need hydration. They tend to strip the skin and send it into an imbalance causing excessive oil.
@idalarsson47292 ай бұрын
@@heathertomczyk2822 I never implied that an oily combo skinned person doesn’t need hydration, but that the minimal powdering wouldn’t work for them. Having spf in your makeup is fine and if that’s the spf you’re going to rely on for your protection that’s fine as long as you use 1/4 tsp of it.

Prove me wrong, but nobody slaps on their foundation and concealer without blending it properly. And backing isn't trendy any more. So I just don't agree with the incorrect techniques because they don't really exist to that extent. "No make-up" makeup is trendy and people don't use much foundation and powder and blending is a key and everyone knows that.

Firstly you’re so pretty. I’d have stopped after the Bobby brown moisturiser thing, if I was your makeup artist. The contour looks gorgeous against a dewy complexion. It’s the perfect shade for you. The correctly applied lip liner also made your lips plumper which was surprising considering I always thought heavy liner is used by some women to achieve just that. Your natural eyebrows need no help but the glue thing looks good still. Black mascara looks incredible on you to be honest but if you’re going for a completely natural dreamy look, I can see why you’d opt for brown. Black gives you more of an awake eye look but in a different way. How can baby blue not pop against black.

Love this! Hope I’m not repeating questions but there were too many for me to look through completely lol - as I’m adding everything to my cart, 1) could you comment on whether these colors (especially blush) work on cool toned skin? I am super fair skinned with a pink undertone but you seem warm toned in the video, so worried this won’t work for me or the lip might be too dark 2) have you made videos for covering a blemish? I know powder helps with texture so I generally layer powder products (yellow-ish powder to cover red, powder contour by Mario, and powder blush by Kosas since it has shimmer with no additional highlighter) 3) if these are too specific, do you do one-on-one tips? 😂❤ Can’t wait for more tips from someone in the industry with so much experience!
