I agree.. I've had mine for 2 months now and wow it's amazing.. It's DEAD on in temperature control, the searing grate is amazing.. for the people like me who are worried if you can get enough smoke you can by adding pellet trays during your cook.. (for those like me who like an aggressive smoke ring).. without this thing does just great too! this is THE BEST pellet grill for the money!

Just purchased mine for $299 this weekend at Costco. Followed the assembly instructions and had no issues. Smoked some chicken, corn on the cob, and baked potatoes and everything came out fantastic! Reading the reviews I knew how to turn the unit off (just a quick push of the power button, don't hold it for 3 seconds). And I knew to open the tray with the lever to put a sear on the chicken. I'm a long time Weber Genesis guy, but for the price and quality you cannot go wrong and we look forward to the BBQ this coming weekend.

I was just thinking I had a bad board cause it wouldn’t power off 😂, you are right the manual is wrong, it does say to press and hold. Nonetheless, it works great and is all the quality build of a Traeger.

I’ve had this smoker since March 2021, and I really like it. I’ve smoked a few chickens, three pork butts, and a couple porterhouse steaks. All great results. The one drawback about this smoker is that the pellet hopper is not designed very well. Yes, it can hold a lot of pellets, but after each hour or so I have to check it to make sure that the pellets are dropping on to the auger. For some reason they get stuck and fail to dispense properly. If you want to smoke for several hours, for say brisket or pork butt, then you need to keep this in mind. The other thing about this hopper is that there is a grid on top that keeps you from getting your hands down into the auger. This may be a good safety feature, but it makes it more difficult to push the pellets on their way to the burner.

Maybe you should clean it or check that rod which turns and pushes pellets into the burning chamber. Mine just keeps going and pushing pellets without issues

Always sift your pellets before filling the hopper. I also keep a old wooden spoon above the hopper grate, so I can move the pellets around.

I was give a Traeger mini, their small smoker as a gift from Costco. The meat probe did not work and temperature fluctuated from a set of 230 to 275. NOT ok. Call Traeger twice, got very little help with the problem. Took the Traeger back to Costco and visited with the Louisiana rep at the store and purchased the 700 model for $400. Same as the Traeger mini. There is NO comparison in the quality. 14 gauge steel vs 18 in the Traeger. Putting together the Louisiana is not complex but might be a bit of challenge for some. Will use it for the first time tomorrow. Also. Louisiana now owns Traeger.

I am returning 1st unit back to Costco. Somehow when I set the temp after start-up, the actual temp reading dips down to 47 degrees (from around 300) and the auger keeps feeding the pellets, thinking the temp is too low. Then after a few minutes, I get Er1 error (too hot) and the grill turns itself off. I am getting another unit coming in. Hopefully this time, I will get a good one. By the way, it's definitely a pain to assemble the legs. You gotta be careful not to mix the numbers for they are different. FYI, two with swivel wheels go to the right side of the grill while two with fixed wheels go to the left side. And it would probably help to have a long screwdriver. The price is 400 now, still a bargain with all the features.

I bought this grill and I'm taking it back. Three start ups and three fires in the hopper. The problem is that during start up it dumps too many pellets in the burn chamber and when it finally catches fire, it's a massive fire and the heat from the fire catches the pellets in the hopper on fire. They need to rewrite the start up algorithm and do it soon before one of these burns down someone's home. And they should add a heat shield between the burn chamber and hopper. The way it is now, it's not sufficient to keep the pellets in the hopper from catching fire

Not entirely sure what is exactly goin on but the pellets will catch fire which is perfectly normal. I turn it on, set the temp and press prime once. Are you sure your operating it correctly.

@@chucko9919 First off there no way possible any pellets in the Hopper should be catching fire. The hopper just holds pellets. the augur feeds pellets into the burning pot. Which is where the pellets are always on fire. So if your telling that the pellets in the hopper is catching fire....then you should return it ASAP! But If your not doing the Burn off at the end of each use then the Burn pot will have way to many pellets which could cause a fire as well. User error!!!

Yep, opens up for sear. I have the Champion. Don't use for sear or the thermometer fucks up and it'll never be the same. I wouldn't take this thing up over 500 degrees. Trust me.

Thanks for posting! I picked this grill up while it was on sale at Costco a few weeks ago. I just had to jump on it! I finally got it set up and going to do my first burn off in a few days then first cook Memorial Day weekend. A few questions: so I understand any brand of wood pellets are fine as long as they are all natural? Is the prime button used each time you fire up the grill? When starting the grill should the lid stay open?

Make sure your buying wood pellets for grilling. Don’t ever buy wood pellets for a wood stove. Brand is preference really. I use pitboss competition pellets. It’s good for all meats and only cost 16.99 at Lowe’s. Best price period! Also you don’t have to press the prime button but I do cus it feeds more pellets which get the grill to temps faster. Won’t be an issue if your doing a burn off every time! Happy grilling!

Hey guys well let me tell you, cooking bbq for 10 to 15 people was exhausting! Surprisingly the grill held temperature really well. My guests absolutely loved my baby backs. I did one rack Chinese take out style and 3 regular BBQ style. I of course was my own worst critic. I thought they didn’t have enough smoke, were too fall of the bone and next time I will cook them a lot lower than 250. I’ve got a lot of experimenting to do. Most important for me was learning through youtube videos, that I should sift my pellets before placing them in the pellet box. I believe it was a big help in not having so much flying ash.

Can we ask Costco to ask these companies that we would like easier assembly. They put the screw holes in the weirdest spots and you need 2 people if u don't want to take 2 hours to assemble. Also, make sure the caster legs, you can see the caster screw hole on 2 of them , go on the left side of the grill, this will make it easier to move smoker. To turn the smoker on, hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn it off press it and release it fast. Also, the handle gets hot to the touch, so be careful.

Hello there, I just fired mine up for the first time, everything was going well for about 15 minutes, I went inside for a few minutes and when I came back out the ignitor was blinking, fire was out and augor would not feed pellets even when holding the prime button. I unplugged and tried to restart but it would go back to flashing the same thing. Any insight is appreciated, hope everybody else's are doing well!

Yours could be defective. Not entirely sure what the igniter blinking means. Might works perfectly. Haven’t had a single issue with it at all. Can you return it for another one? Costco return policy is like 1yr.

@@DitchPickler I called Louisiana grills and they are sending me a new ignitor, I bought one at a local store that plugs in fine but doesn't work and still has a blinking ignitor on the display. they said the wattage could be different on the aftermarket and were very nice about sending me a replacement. Make sure your doing the burn off at the end of your grilling. That is the main reason it will catch fire. All clean the grill good after a few uses. I don’t know why your grill caught on fire so I’m just assuming your situation.

@@DitchPickler OK great thanks. costco had the traeger junior 20 on clearance at $249.97 so got one as I was looking for something rather low to start with... might get a larger pellet grill once my gas one goes out... anyways the traeger was horrible. Temps on that thing was 50 to 100 degrees off and yes that with keeping it shut. I was hoping your LG700 was keeping temps well as I rolled the dice to have one delivered. Unfortunately, my location does not have any in stock so mine is $399.97 instead of the $299 people are finding it for. Oh on another note with the Traeger, the 3 year warranty listed only covers the body... hope the LG is 5 years on everything rather than 1 year like Traeger does.

What is the lowest temp you can smoke at? I just bought one and trying to decide if I want to open it, or resell it and keep my traegar since it will go down to about 130 degrees or so to smoke like I like without cooking the meat. I do a hour low smoke then a hot sear for a few minutes on steaks and pork chops. I'm worried the Louisiana might be too hot at 160, but I can manipulate my trager to get lower than it's advertised. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I think it’s 180°F. Note that most household ovens can hold a temperature of 170°F or less. Once my pork shoulder gets to a temperature of 170, I wrap it and put it in the oven, because at that point smoking it won’t give it anymore smoke taste. After it gets to around 200°F, I can turn the oven way down to 170°F and let it rest for as long as I want.

I just got this model and was curious do you think the pellet consumption was high? I ran mine for about 3 hours and the chamber was running lower than I thought it would be. I had it set at 275 for about 3.5 hours. Any advice is appreciated.

No consumption seems perfect. My family have owned traeger,camp chef and others. Think of it this way. When you cook on a low heat you will burn more fuel cus when smoking etc that take 3+ hours. When cooking on high heat like 350+ u will burn less cus the cook time is faster. Think my wife went though about half the pellets in the hopper for the ribs she smoked and it took 3+ hours. Could be a little more. At Lowe’s u can get a 40lb bag of pit boss competition for $17-19 which is cheaper than Costco or amazon.

It hold perfectly fine. When the temp goes down it feeds more pellets if needed. Normally is goes down if you have the lid open long but gets back up to temp fast. It occasionally will get a few degrees higher after it feed pellets but stabilizes fairly quick! Hope that helps! Love this grill!!!!

Ya first time it was a challenge it it’s super simple. Put it in horizontally and tilt it 45 degrees. Once it’s in...just moved it over an inch and you’ll be able to get them both on the rack supports.

I have one of these and it works well for the most part. Unfortunately, the powder coating is coming off the right side of the barrel where the flame blows under the broiler plate. The flame also sometimes blows back to the left side of the unit and causes a terrible chemical smell. I think I am going to return it and get a replacement. They must have not powder coated the unit properly. Also- Dont use the sear feature. The juices from the steak fall through the slats and into the burn box and clog it up.

I agree. I have one and and am having problems with mine. The powder coating started coming off the right side of the barrel the 3rd time I ran the grill.
