I'm not a good runner and I like the SL2 much better than the Boston 12. The latter is very stiff (because of the rods) and I could not really get the full benefit unless I'm really pushing the peace hard. Whereas the SL2 suits me better at a variety of paces.

That’s my favorite part of the sl2 as well. Plates make shoes feel stiff if you are running at slower paces which is never fun. I’m considering the Boston 12 so thank you for that insight.

@@joshuaxruns I have both and love both. Different, but both good in their own ways. Boston is slightly wide for me, but not a deal breaker. SL2 at under $100 with Addidas discount is bargin of the year!

bought it cause everyone hyped it and loved it.. so i gave em a shot. first bought my regular size, but it was kinda tight. bought half size up, was way better. ran 10 miles and my toe next to my pinkie hurt on the middle joint .... well was at the end kinda painful, so i tryed it another days later maybe the upper needed to fit and streched a little. Second run same 10 miles... my complete white shoe was full of blood caused by my toe ... lol well... that was nasty to clean.... i heated it up and streched it with force... now its ok its a "good" shoe if you fit in perfect. but i need kinda little more cushion. love the novablast 4. maybe it gets better after another 20-30 miles

That does not sound fun. I agree it’s a great shoe if it fits you well, but I would have retired it already if I had the same thing happen to me. Hope the foot heals quickly!

Boston 12 already feels tight for me. I got left forefoot pain running over 5k with it. But with my novablast 4 my foot feels fresh even after 15k.

I have wide feet and it’s so tight around my midfoot. I haven’t taken it for a run but it’s hard to see how it will break in enough to be comfortable. Really want to love it but might have to return and see if they drop wides.

Yea the one downside is the snug fit. Can make the shoe unenjoyable for anyone who it doesn’t fit well.

It's a good looking shoe, but the Boston 12 completely soured me on the Lightstrike + Lightstrike Pro combination... So much so, that it almost put me off Adidas shoes altogether. But after trying the Adios Pro 3, Takumi Sen 10 and Prime x 2 strung, Lightstrike Pro has become my favourite foam!

That’s how I felt about the Boston 10 😂 really made me hesitant to run in anything adidas for a long time.

@@joshuaxruns lighting strike pro might be the best most durable foam out there so yea. same with the prime x strung 2 and the adios pro 3. adidas might have the best lineup out there

I had to order a size larger. The nails on my big toe hurt given my normal size.

I’ve only taken the shoe to 19km so far, so I can’t really speak to your question. I believe the shoe could hold up well for 32km, but if you are worried about tired legs then I would choose something else for those longer runs.

Never ran in the SL1 so I can’t compare. But the SL2 is a great shoe. I just recommend potentially going up 1/2 size.

@@filoIII not sure if half size up would help with the width. But the shoe does fit tight at TTS. I didn’t have any issues with sizing, but it is a tighter fit overall.

That’s a bummer. It’s definitely snug enough that some people may have issues with the forefoot and need to size up.

@@filoIII it’s both reasons. So 1/2 up should solve the fit all around. It did for me and I’m a true 11.5 on every running shoe addidas except the SL2 where im 12 and the fit is perfect.

Can it be used everyday walking as well?

Depends on what you are looking for I. A walking shoe. I think this shoe softens up at moderate paces but isn’t bad with walking either. But it is a slightly firmer midsole for walking. Hope that helps!

I had the Energy Boost 2. Meh. Sold it after a while. Got the UB 19--Sold it after one run. UB21 was supposed to be so much better----sold it after one run. MAYBE this will be an adidas I'll buy, but I had sworn off adidas.

I pretty much had sworn off adidas as well. Every shoe I had run in was meh as well. This is the first time I’ve actually enjoyed an adidas shoe.

Good review Josh. I bought my first pair of Adidas footwear back in 1972 when I ran track in high school. I would strongly suggest you stop mispronouncing the brand name and refer to it properly as "uh DEE duhs" with the emphasis on the second syllable instead of the first. You sound ridiculous . . .

Nothing spectacular in this shoe and this is fine. However I'd rather buy something like puma deviate nitro 2 on a discount than this one - similar price and you will get better performance on faster paces and on gravel. And also they are not so breathable.

Agreed. For me, almost all daily trainers are not spectacular. They are all vanilla shoes that just get the miles in. I agree the DN2 would be a better shoe on discount, but that’s not an apples to apples comparison.

@@joshuaxruns DN2 should be on the discount for as long as their supply last because DN3 got released. This was the only reason I've mentioned the discount :). I agree that they cannot be compared 1:1 as Pumas are in the price point of Boston's 12.

Maybe. It’s not the first shoe I would pick for a half. But it depends on what your goals are for the half and what kind of shoe you like for race day.
