That was a super cheap, plastic helmet. FIM approved carbon helmet are much stronger.

metals are malleable so they don't explode (unless we use some treatment methods to make them brittle), and that tungsten cube certainly wasn't going to be flattened too easily. Even after it bent at 130 tons, it would require more than 200 tons to flatten it.

that last carbon fiber structure holding 5000kg+ (11023lb+) of force is crazy given how seemingly fragile the thing looks. (carbon fiber is similar to Kevlar in tensile strength. Kevlar wins in price and protection against abrasion tho.

@@Anemonea there is a video on youtube already that does that with a block. They did 2 tests, 1 with the press exerting force perpendicular to the orientation of the fibers and the other one paralel to the fibers. The perpendicular one maxed out the press at 120tons (i think) and didnt budge.

It's used for machinist tooling too. That's what we use to cut metal parts. Especially hard metals.

Combine it with Cobalt, grind, granulate, press, sinter and coat it with AlO and you're all set to cut metal at high speeds/temperatures

The differential balls in my RC cars are made out of tungsten carbide. To get the good ones They will wear a hole in the ring or I should say a groove that they roll on before they'll flatten the balls. Pretty's tough stuff. I also got a hold of some ceramic ones and they were supposed to be stronger than the tungsten carbide but would also shatter and the temperature fluctuations that I lived in in Alaska.

usually with slo mo footage like that, they replace the sound with sound effects that is made afterwards (foley).. I think Destin from SmarterEveryDay made a video about how they record sounds for slo-mo videos in his second channel.. (edited: here's the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4Caqq2jmJisodk )

@@vivs005 Probably some hardox , like 60 hrc or so. Tungsten isn't tungsten carbide, tungsten carbide would have probably shrunk inside the steel.

But I'm pretty sure they were doing that for some kind of test that they were getting paid for otherwise they wouldn't waste the money just for a KZbin video
