That interesting rock with the hole could be ancient fulgarite (lightening struck rock and sand that melts into glass) that has crystallized over time. I found a strike in the Arizona desert with a hole that I could fit my entire arm into. It looked like black glass had boiled out of the ground! I dug as much up as I could and still have over 40 lbs of it, almost 20 years later.

I’d be curious to know if there’s any good in southwest Wisconsin or in Rusk County. SW: I heard Cross Plains was good and I know they rerouted the Black Earth Creek downtown and I wonder what that turned up. Rusk: there was a big gold mine in Rusk county, I wonder if there’s any in the creeks in the area?
@GlacialGoldHunter2 ай бұрын
It was a sulfide mine. Copper nickel and gold and other metals can be locked in sulfides but it takes chemistry to extract it. It’s not the kind of gold you can pan. It’s possible that some native gold was deposited around there but the target of the mine was the sulfide deposit.
