The last time I was at ship Allen the mosquitoes were really bad. They must’ve done something about it because you wouldn’t squat in mosquitoes.

Some areas are still a little buggy! It definitely depends on the season. The fort is the area I’ve seen them the most. The rangers usually offer bug spray too but it’s always smart to have it in your adventure bag.

First time viewer. I really enjoyed this video. I have added 'Ziplock' baggies to my packing list, thank you! Great tip. Also, I heard that there is an area for nudists on the island, on a far end. lol. Not my thing but if people unfamiliar with that go exploring with children, they may need to be forewarned lol.

Hi, I’m a little late to this video, we moved to the coast late last year. I was wondering if you know, or saw someone else with one, but can we bring a wagon with wheels if we brought our cooler and extra stuff in the wagon? Would it take too much room up on the boat? I’m just trying to figure out our plan for next weekend and hoping I don’t have to lug a bunch of stuff 😊 😂
@GulfCoastGal Жыл бұрын
Hey! No worries at all! They are here for y’all when you have time! Wagon’s unfortunately aren’t able to be brought but I’d recommended a cooler with wheels and a large beach bag or something you can add to the top and just roll. But honestly, the north side of the island is usually my fav! 🤫

Great video. How is the boat ride in terms of rocking/choppiness etc. Planning a trip in September but very concerned about motion sickness on the boat
@GulfCoastGal Жыл бұрын
Hey John! Thanks for tuning in! It’s a larger vessel so very minimal and because of the barrier islands you aren’t going to get crazy chop on that north side. ☺️ Enjoy your trip!

I wonder where did the granite come from? Also I would assume a lot of the mateiraals were shipped to the island but I also wonder what type of wildlife or other artificats were found prior to the Spainards and or French arrival during the 1699s. Knowing that the many ancient mounds found throughout Mississippi and other states I wonder what ancient artifiacts were found at the islands?

It definitely depends on the carrier since the Island is 12 miles out, and also weather IMO. :) I was able to do basic things like call and text, possibly a little social media scrolling but had some trouble refreshing social feeds and DEFINITELY wasn't able to go LIVE. I hope that helps! Enjoy your trip!
