Thanks to its central location, Denver, Colorado is an incredibly convenient hub for taking a day trip in the state.
There are so many great mountain towns and fun day trip destinations and excursions available it can be hard to choose. This is why, as a born and raised Colorado local, I’ve narrowed it down to the absolute best day trips from Denver that are only a few hours from the city.
These are destinations that I have personally visited, plus they’re perfect for families with kids, or couples looking for a fun getaway.

Well this video only had 12 things. If we were to add everything worthwhile to the criteria of day trips from Denver, this video would be quite long. I encourage you to create your own video with the Cog Railway being the highlight.

Love this video. I’ve been to most of these locations as a northern Coloradan. I do think that the Dillon/Frisco area is often overlooked. Which I’m glad about as most people go on to Breckenridge or Vail. There is so much to do in Dillon with the lake there. There’s great bike trails, hiking, and skiing within 10-15 minutes in the winter. Then there’s sailing, kayaking or paddle boarding on the lake. Frisco is a gem. It’s my favorite spot in the state as it’s only 2 hrs from where I live and so much to do.

100% agree about Frisco area. It's a GREAT hub to use to explore the surrounding areas or to hit each of the nearby ski areas. There is indeed a LOT to do and is indeed overlooked.

It hasn't been sold yet, but it could be! And it's an Arizona non-profit that's interested so hopefully it will continue being a great place to visit for everyone. :)

Are these places easy to get to if you don’t have a car?
@HashtagColoradoLife

Hmm.. yea. Some of these places you could get to without a car for sure. There is defo some busses and shuttles that you can catch to head to most ski towns or any of the places that are within the Denver suburbs. Red Rocks, Estes Park / Rocky Mntn Natl Park, Boulder -- any of those I would think would be the easiest to get to.
