Lived in Wahiawa on Lehua near the hospital (where I worked) in the 70's. Cutest little plantation house, washer/dryer in carport, no AC, Japanese landlords lived next door - she made me a lovely quilt for our first baby. The yard had an orchid hedge across the front, bird's of paradise, ginger, banana trees - so Hawaii, but certainly not fancy. Unfortunately, the house was torn down and now there is an ugly, multi-story building taking up most of the lot, probably for a multi-generational family, perhaps the landlord's kids, and I get needing that these days with prices so high. But boy, that old house was so cute, we just loved it. This one you showed today is really nice and the yard is huge - will make someone a wonderful home.

Dang the hate comments be crazy. Hawaii is expensive. It’s supply and demand. People gotta see it’s the land that is outpacing. The value of the house is pointless to look and compare. Blame the rich outside buyers and the law makers. And maybe the realtor association if they be lobbying.

Great video. Nice house but more potential like it was mentioned. The one drawback is that some buyer will go insane about putting in so much more. I worked at Schofield for quite a while and came visit other organizations at Wheeler & Schofield, the weather of Wahiawa is certainly different if one is lived in Kailua, Nuuanu and Leeward. It's not quite rustic but lots of older Hawaii vibe, which makes it quaint. Building on the side makes more space but closer to the neighbor's property. The back has lots of potential but whether going back will depend on for what? Multi-generation is good until the kids are grown & out of the house, which makes cleaning more as the couple ages. Then when passed, the inheritance of the property makes it sometimes unaffordable for the younger couples just starting out to afford and ends up selling to flip and sell for outrageous price than only wealthy can afford. Then neighbor slowly changes to wealthier or non-locals, until a monster home pops up. My parent's house in Keolu wasn't much different then that home. Parent forget what washed & sun dried laundry smells/feels like in modern communities, which I miss. Security for the cars/property wasn't touched on but why car ports are good & bad. Wahiawa is a small town, heavily congested at peak rush hour but it has some characteristic business that is an old town charm, unlike Kailua, which keeps urbanizing and choke with tourists, which would make it unbearable. It's still a nice location and what's not mentioned is that areas of Wahiawa has Cherry Blossom trees and a great bakery if its still there, Sunset Bakery/drive in (???) by the field. Great delicious pies but goes out so quickly.

This was a funny but great video. Thank you for sharing this nice home. My only hope is that a good family will able to buy this home and not an investor, only wanting to make a quick buck.

Only In Hawaii.....can you see realtors conducting a walk-thru narrative, Outdoors...in bare feet. That's one of the charms & appeals of Living in Hawaii, in general & Wahiawa, Haleiwa, Waialua, specifically(Sorry, Mililani...Too bougie for me!)-lol.

The lower part of lower Wahiawa has underground utilities and curbs. Not plantation homes.

Great channel! Really enjoyed this video. My wife and I have visited Kaua’i a bunch and would love to move to Hawaii (at least we think so). Oahu would be nice as well. However, I have a big problem moving there, though, and thinking I’m taking away opportunities from the locals. I don’t want to add to any problems already that are out pricing the folks that are native and local.

Using the other commenter’s figures $6,500 a month for 30 years is $2,340,000. So the mortgage company makes more money than the cost of the property. Realtors are going to get bachi for helping to drive up the property values. One day you will remember this comment you two coconuts. (Brown on the outside, white on the inside.)
@movingtohawaiiАй бұрын
@@maitaioe9455 can you please look up quantitative easing and inflation? I understand your feeling and have empathy, but you’re off. My dad who bought his house for $300k, if the mortgage were paid over 30 years he would also pay more than $300k in interest. If I give you $5 to buy lunch and you take a long time to pay it off, you’re going to pay more in interest. That’s how leverage works. Also, people who buy real estate and keep it, they get to experience appreciation and inflation and be worth more over 30 years. I hope you can understand this. Much aloha.

Why shoot the messengers? Who is going to sell their house below market value or hire realtors who sell below market value.

A million dollars In Wahiawā?! Are you kidding me? That area sucks! An investor previously bought this property, flipped it for a massive profit. Greedy people, shameless realtors, corrupt and do nothing politicians.
@movingtohawaiiАй бұрын
@@ssglopezvm I take your victim card and see you $989k. To say the area sucks is kinda offensive to the aunties and uncles taking greet care of their properties on this street, no?? Sure, an investor is flipping it. Would you have preferred that it sit there in disrepair?

@@movingtohawaii Don’t turn this around… explain it to all the aunties and uncles why Hawaii is being gentrified and people of less means are being priced out! All greedy people care about is their bottom line. Try advocating for affordable housing, new laws to benefit locals. Most local families cannot afford to buy this million dollar house. Everyone knows that Hawaii is a sacrificial island where the wealthy go to shop and leave.

@@ssglopezvm you didn’t answer my question. “Make laws…” That means nothing. Tell me what you’d prefer happen to an old joke in disrepair? If the government bought it back and flipped it, the bureaucratic process would add so much waste that it would prob have to be sold at $1.1m. So I believe the free market is more efficient.
