It leaves you open for body shots, also this would be a better defensive decision for taller fighters because they could get away with it. For short fighters I would use the Philly shell but not everyone knows how to correctly use it. Overall I would still give it to the Philly shell because you protecting up top, down low while because able to block and parry with you guard hand. Also being able to adjust your jab, angling it or hooking. Most people don’t understand Floyd defense was specifically unique to him because he could lead with a hook and use the jab when he wanted as if it was a hook

@Philipp_-cp2xw Ай бұрын
I learned that kind of style in my boxing gym,there are so many way to prevent bodyshots I cant name all sorry.If your lead hand side gets attacked your active guard gets close to your body just in like in the high guard but so simply let it drop more so your elbow can block lets say a jab.If its a lead hand body hook your arm blocks it instead of your elbow.Its important to make your whole body tight and compact like Tyson to avoid openings.You do the same with your rear defense,pretty simple.If you can do the pendelum step you can just quickly jump back out of range and do a pull counter.Anyways just practice and get fast on your feet,thats most important for defense.

Tyson = explosive footwork and shifting combos Holyfield (young) aggressive/dirty tactics/ in and out game/ pushing fight forward. Hopkins = timing/ evasive inside game and IQ drawing opponent to chase onto ropes. Holmes = using various jabs/frames/ clinches/ arms and shoulders as defence/ a range of punch tempo to confuse opponent. There’s more but can’t think right now. “In this corner even made a vid with ward comparing him to fighters above. Ward was also compared to holmes in an older vid somewhere else.

But there’s no answer to a 2 straight to the rib cage. Now you’re breathing so hard and it’s piercing because ur rib is fucked. Floyd’s defense was miles better, as it prevented him from ever being knocked down. EYou forget the old puncher Darnell Boone and what he did to both ward and Stevenson. Noone ever did that to Floyd or came close
