How loud is yours? I bought one, what a racket, between 49 to 67 dbs, louder than our tumble drier. I got the first one replaced, but this second one is much the same and switching to night mode makes little difference. Can't use it during the night as it is too loud, kind of defeats the purpose as the bedroom windows still have condensation. We used to have an eBac, which lasted us since the 1990's and then died a few months back. That was quiet, and effective.

Hi. if you wish to save money on filters. You still need to replace them each 6 month- vacuuming does not help to clean it completely. I still vacuum mesh once per month by the way. Buy- 6808613 car filter. It fits if you cut it a little bit. I got 5 pcs for 3.50Eur each in European car parts shop.

Great vid! You have a very calming voice. I've had my 25l Arete since October 2023. It was amazing, but then started playing up. Meaco were great, and after a sending back the machine twice, they sent a new one today. I know that sounds a hassle, but they did everything...they send a new box (I threw away the original), DPD collected it the next day, and they sent the new one 4 days later. Btw, did you wait 6 hours after delivery before using? Not sure how necessary that is. My new one just arrived 15 mins ago, I'm dying to use it. LOL. Thanks for the vid!

Thanks for the kind comment Adam, I appreciate it. Would love to know how it played up. I have dropped some wood shavings into the fan (long story) and I can hear them when the fan starts up. Was going to turn it upside down to try and shake them out, but then remembered the warning about letting it settle - I guess it's like the coolant in a fridge and how you're not meant to turn that on for a few hours... I did wait - but only because I think we've wrecked our fridge! That sounds like great service you got. I need to make a video about this but we found that we were emptying the basket daily for the first 6 weeks, then it went much longer to fill up. Almost like it dried out the house and now just deals more with the daily humidity. Hope it's working out well for you and thanks again!

Just ordered a 12L one. We live in a bungalow two Front bedrooms extremely damp. Mould ect., mould has wrecked clothing and furniture. We have suspended timber floors over soil base(1940 bungalow). Had lots work done to try and beat our problems too. We have installed a PV- positive ventilation from loft to hall and that has increased movement of air dramatically . Cleaned out air bricks., had pointing done vented cavity., vented roof., painted breathable water replant paint to outside brickwork and block to the inside of walls . Also put in extraction fans to bathroom and kitchen for releasing of steam to outside. All of these things have helped and now hoping the dehumidifier will dry the air so the heating works more efficient., and gets rid of mouldy smells. Thank you for great video. Good luck … best wishes Lynn

Thanks for your detailed review! Do you suggest to place the dehumidifier in a central part of a house (eg. Hallway), in order to benefit to dehumidify the whole house (mid terraced 3 bed)? As my property does suffer from water build up/condensation on the windows in the bedrooms and moreso in the front porch. Thanks.
@DADDELIVERS Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind comment and question: We've been moving ours around for the first couple of months because our situation sounds almost identical to yours. The hallway has been good for getting the humidity down for the whole house, but I've been putting it into the bedrooms during the day with the door closed to draw out everything there. It's really worked - my daughter's bedroom was the worse: humidity of 81% and now it's down to 55% What's spooky is that we were emptying the 5L bucket every day, sometimes twice for the first few weeks, now it takes a few days to fill up and the house is at around 55% humidity, so it feels like we've drawn out damp from the walls etc and only dealing with the stuff that's in the air mostly now: from boiling rice, pasta, showers, breathing etc. Plus we use it for laundry and very rarely use the tumble dryer now, so hope to be saving power while the dehumidifier is doing double duty with our clothes and the house. Hope this helps - good luck with getting rid of the condensation!

Thank you for your video. It was very useful. Just bought the 12L a few days ago, had it on 24/7 trying to achieve 40% RH. only using 155w. It has changed my life beyond belief. I haven't used a fan heater since I have had it. No central heating. RH down from 70% to under 50 now. Air quality and temperature is beautiful. I sleep better, dream more. Even the cat is happier. I can even spend all day in my underwear in the flat. I've lived here 12 years, this has never been possible prior to this. I don't anticipate I'll need any heating unless anything crazy happens. The small amount of heat it creates is perfect in combination with the reduction in RH (Relative Humidity). The air is now easier to heat, so the small amount of heat generated by the humidifier is perfect for the flat. Now all of the flat is at a perfect "Goldilocks" temperature, no hot spots, no cold spots. No central heating whatsoever. Mind blowing.

It has been on now for 3 days but I don’t seem to be drawing a lot of water in. My wall is very wet, with a strong smell of wet plaster. Am I expecting too much in a short time? Also the air blowing out of mine is very cold.

From what I’ve seen from the website temperature plays a factor. At 10c it’s a mere 2.5l per day. At 20c it was 13l per day.
@DADDELIVERS Жыл бұрын
Hi Yvonne Thanks for the kind message and sorry to hear it doesn't seem to be drawing much out. We ran ours continuously for about 3 weeks and we were emptying the full 5 litre canister every day. Now it doesn't seem to be emptying so often, so we think we've drawn out some from the walls. The suggestion below seems a good one, that it collects different amounts at different temperatures. Are you getting the bucket filled often, like once per day? The cold air is interesting. Our fan air feels quite warm, when the compressor is on. There's a light on the bottom left hand side of the panel with an icon like a drip with 2 lines. This shows the compressor is on and it's dehumidifying... When that light goes off, I think the instructions say it's sampling the air or has reached it's target humidity. If that light is always off and the fan air is cold all the time, there might be a problem and it might be worth a call to Meaco. Sorry I can't be more help and hope its collecting lots of water.

Thanks for asking - ours is a normal 2 floor 3 bed house. It can do the whole house from the downstairs hallway, but we move it around to dry out particular rooms. So have it in the kitchen when we're drying out laundry there, or a bedroom if the humidity is high there. But it is v heavy (with handle and wheels)!

Great video. I’d like to use one with home automation, by attaching it to a smart plug. For this to work it would need to come on, in one of the programme modes, as soon it is switched on via the smart plug. Can it do this, or does it always need to be turned on manually, via hand, using the power switch on the unit?
@DADDELIVERS3 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for the great question -- for me, when I turn off the dehumidifier from the socket, when the socket is turned on, the dehumidifier comes back on at the setting it was last on -- no need to hit the power/on button on the unit. So I think it would work with an automated plug. Hope I've understood the question correctly and good luck with the dehumidifier! PS The Arete Two model can be controlled remotely via the Meaco app, as well as being switched on as above.

Hi Richie Thanks for the kind question -- it has worked really well if left centrally. We leave ours in the hallway of a home that sounds like yours, with 2 floors. What we've done is also take it into the rooms with the door closed to properly dry it out - in the first few months it was filling up within a day, and later takes a few days to fill up, so we think it's dried out the walls. And now we use it instead of our tumble dryer. The mould has all but gone, and the couple of places we've found some pre-existed before getting the dehumidifier... Good luck with your choice and thanks again!

Bleach isn’t actually the best thing for getting rid of mould. It just changes the colour. There is quite a bit of water in bleach so when the bleach evaporates you are left with water for it to create the right environment for mould. Better to use the correct mould treatment. I’ve used dry zone mould remover and sanitizer. Seems to do the job on wood but can’t comment on non porous surfaces.

Thanks for the informative video. I just bought a used 12L one, but had no instruction manual, or hepa filter. I was told that the dehumidifier and the air purifier can be used independently. I only want it for dehumidifying the flat, without the purifier running. (filters are expensive and I have 2 purifiers already. Plus running the purifier makes the machine slightly louder) You say the purifier runs all the time. Now you've had it longer, have you noticed that they can run independently, and if so, how do you set it to just dehumidify?
@DADDELIVERS3 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew Thanks for the kind comment and questions. They can be used independently, but as Humidifier+purifier or Purifier only mode. I think the idea is that the filter protects the water extraction system inside from getting gunked up. Also, when I remove the filter, as you say - the whooshing gets louder. If I were you, and I hate buying filters - but it would be a good investment to make your dehumidifier quieter and help it last longer by making sure the air that goes in is filtered - it also means the air it pumps out is cleaner too. The official ones are eyewateringly expensive, but there seem to be some compatible ones on Amazon which are a little cheaper. amzn.to/3Ad6wia Hope I've understood things correctly and good luck with your dehumidifer!

Could I put it in the loft for a while do you think ? I’ve got mould up there after our bathroom extractor fan was blowing steam up there for a while 😫😫😫
@DADDELIVERS11 ай бұрын
Hi Helena Thanks for asking -- Yes you could put this in the loft with a couple of buts... It is heavy, so lugging it up a ladder would be very difficult for me And it sounds like your loft might be completely insulated from the outside -- it tends not to do so well if outside air is coming in because it naturally tries to dehumidify the new air that's coming in and ends up not doing much to the room, if say a window or door is open.,.. Hope this helps and thanks again!

Hi, Thank you for the review with a detailed description on how to use the Meaco Arete dehumidifier. We just bought one as condensation is a serious problem in our bathroom and the extractor fan is not helping much. Is it safe to place this in the bathroom? If not, what would be the best place?
@DADDELIVERS6 ай бұрын
Hi Jocknteam thanks for the kind question -- I definitely wouldn't put it in the bathroom - the fan is quite open. If it were me I'd put it anywhere in the corridor, though I've put ours in the bedroom on the floor where the bathroom was a problem for us - it's so powerful that if it reduces the humidity in one room, the moisture flows from the rest of the house to there so you dehumidify the whole house from one room, if the door is open Hope this helps

Is there any advantage in going into the hire capacity models I've got a relatively small problem and I'm looking at the 12 l does a larger capacity mean it's quieter for the same amount of work?
@DADDELIVERS7 ай бұрын
Hi James - I think the capacity refers to how much it dehumidifies per hour? I think the 12L will be just fine for you. I don't know if it's any quieter because the models all look quite similar. Well worth it! Good luck with your dehumidifier and thanks again!

Hi mate My dehumidifier working after 6 h no water in the water tank, why???
@DADDELIVERS3 ай бұрын
Hi Mihai - sorry to hear this - that doesn't sound good. The only 2 reasons I can think of is it's either on a target humidity that's higher than your room (so it's set to 70% but your room is 68% for example) Or the unit is set to AP mode which is air purifier mode which switches off the dehumidifying. The only other thing - if it's the first time and it's never collecting anything would be to give Meaco a call. There's a warning (which I ignored) to not turn the unit on until 8 hours after transporting it - like with fridges - to allow the coolant inside to settle. I've seen warnings that if it is turned on too early, it can bork the unit and break it. Hope it's not that major and hope you find a fix for this. Thanks again for the kind question

Does it purify air at the same time as dehumidify or do you have to do that separately ?
@DADDELIVERS Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind question Helena Yes it does - the air that's drawn in for the dehumidifier goes through the air filter. And you can turn off the dehumidifier part in the summer to use it just as a purifier whenever needed. Hope this helps!

Just received ours . Question , why does it blow out cold air ? Seems pointless when the heating is on . I’m a blonde 74 year old , please excuse my stupidity lol 😢
@DADDELIVERS Жыл бұрын
Hi Margaret Thanks for the kind question - it's a very good one! I'm hoping that it doesn't blow out cold air all the time... There are 4 lights underneath the number that's being displayed. When the light on the bottom left is on, is when it's dehumidifying - I think. So I'm assuming that this light isn't on when it feels like the air is cold. When it's doing the cold air and no light on - I understand that it's either sampling the air to test the humidity... or it has hit the target humidity, so it's just whirring around until the humidity goes up, when the compressor kicks in (which is shown by the little light) and it starts dehumidifying again. So... if you press the 'drip' button on the left of the number, and keep pressing it - it jumps to different humidity levels: CO for continuous, 40, 45, etc up to 70. For a test, keep pressing that button until it shows either CO (for permanently on) or 40. If you then leave the button alone, the number will then show the current humidity. I'm assuming your humidity is higher than 40. You should see the light come on - the light which is furthest on the left at the bottom, and the air coming out should feel warmer? Does this work? Even so - from time to time the compressor (and the little light) will go off and coldish/colder air will come out, and I believe this is totally normal. Hope this helps!

I've bought the meaco one 12l and I find the compressor to be noisy. Constant humming/buzzing sound that is louder than the fan. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
@DADDELIVERS11 ай бұрын
Hi, sorry to hear this. It sounds like the compressor, which I think is the thing that cools inside that condenses the water in the air. Ours is pretty loud - too loud to sleep in the room with it but not too disturbing in the house. Someone else in the comments said they sent theirs back and Meaco replaced it. For them, they said it might have been due to turning it on before the 6 hours to let the coolant inside settle. It's a bit like being advised not to turn on a new fridge after transit. I'd get in touch with Meaco for their advice, and hope you get it sorted. Thanks again for the kind comment and question, and good luck with your dehumidifier!

I've just bought the 20L version and quiet it isn't. Anybody saying they are cleary have a hearing problem or are lying. The compressor makes the most noise, same noise as a loud fridge. No way in hell could I sleep with it in the bedroom.
