I am now being inundated with dehumidifier videos after looking online for one..... I finally had enough of the damp in my flat and having to clean a couple of walls twice a year, i was a bit sceptical about the power and abilities of the dehumidifier in regards to damp and washing drying capabilities... I used it for a day just to dry the condensation and i was pleased with the results, so today I tested the washing drying capabilities... WOW, IT'S THE DOGS, washing was dry after 4 And a half hours.. I put my washing in my hallway which is my smallest room in my flat, and it's also the dampest room ,so I've killed 2 bird's with one stone..... Happy days... Now I'm feeling sad that I didn't get one years ago... Chris

Meaco dehumidifiers are brilliant. I have a 25L at the top of the stairs and a 12L in each of my kids bedrooms. Kids (winter especially) spend a lot of time in the rooms and just breathing puts lots of moisture in the air, these keep it under control and purify the air at the same time. Just bough another 12L for the kitchen so now have four of them. Best dehumidifiers I've come across. Highly recommend.

I got the Meaco arête two 20l. I’m living in a 2 bed apartment here in Ireland. I always feel draught coming from my windows even though I have added a rubber seal in it. I had infestation of silverfish too. First 6 hours of running my dehumidifier I collected almost full tank of water which is about 4.8l. 1 week later I’m collecting about less than 500ml of water. Apartment feels a lot warmer and most importantly I haven’t seen a single silverfish in my bathroom. (Apparently they live in a very damp environment) I hope I won’t see them anymore now that my apartment is a lot dryer.

Wow, that's fantastic @jargarbo thanks for the kind message. I can feel warmer just reading this comment. Having Silverfish is incredible. We had a similar experience with our 18L - It took about 6 weeks before we weren't emptying the large quantities at the start - it was like it was drying out the fabric of the building that might never have been dried out. Now we even use it for drying out the washing instead of the tumble dryer Thanks again for the great comment

Great video....for the first time in twenty five years I had a patch of black mould appear on my bathroom ceiling. I'd never considered that my house might have a damp issue. I had never had any mould issues before. I had my roof and gutters checked and found no issues. My loft especially above the bathroom was dry. A friend suggested I buy a dehumidifier and I went online and did some research. I eventually I settled on a Meaco one. Within days of use my house felt completely different. It felt warmer and didn't take as long to warm up when the central heating came on. Any washing on the airer dried overnight instead of taking a couple of days. I was so impressed. In fact I bought a second Meaco dehumidifier for downstairs. I must say they were my best purchases of 2024.

Everyone’s saying their dehumidifier releases warm air. I have the Meaco Arete and never has it released warm air. It’s always cold air. Am I missing something here?
@DADDELIVERS19 күн бұрын
Thanks for the kind question - I think it depends if the compressor has kicked in when you hold your hand over the vent. Many times, the compressor goes off while it's sampling the air - and the air seems cold during those times. When it's actually dehumidifying the air seems to get warmer. The closer the target humidity is to the actual humidity in the room, the more cooler it seems if that makes sense. You can see clearly when the compressor is on for the Arete One because there's a light that comes on. I'm not sure there's an indicator for that on the Arete Two... Hope this helps!
@shortymcsteve2 ай бұрын
Have you noticed a difference with the readings between the One, Two, and your hydrometer? A lot of people have been complaining that the Two is not accurate with how it’s reading the humidity. Would be good to know if you noticed this issue. I see near the end the readings were about 4% off.
@DADDELIVERS2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind question -- I had noticed a difference, but assumed my hydrometer doesn't look like the most amazing piece of technical kit in the world, and not sure what the difference in averaging the sampling is between them, so it hasn't bothered me... That said, I think I prefer seeing an actual percentage number rather than graphical bars, but as it's on for hours the number is something I'm tearing myself away from!
@shortymcsteve2 ай бұрын
@@DADDELIVERS Thanks for replying, that’s good to know! I’m currently trying to decide between the two 18L version. Unsure if the Two is worth £40 extra - What would you do if you were buying over again with your experience. Is the Two worth the price jump?
@DADDELIVERS2 ай бұрын
@@shortymcsteve This is a really good question, and one I might make a video about, but I can't call which one is best! The Arete One was absolutely perfect for us, but the only thing that's slightly annoying is having the open fan grille at the top. I have dropped things into it by accident, and you can't seem to open it up to clean it. So the flap on the top of the Arete Two is really good, -- but that said, I'm not sure it's worth the extra 40 quid. If you were to get the Arete One, it'd work absolutely the same as the Arete Two, and I think I even prefer the small display that just shows the number. I don't think you'd be missing out at all... Hope something here helps!
@Smatnm2 ай бұрын
@@shortymcsteveYou’d have to consider the power consumption of both units in relation to how long you expect to run it for. If the Two has a lower run time or power consumption, then the £40 extra could easily pay itself back in a relatively short period of time.
@shortymcsteve2 ай бұрын
@@Smatnm I agree, however Meaco do not give any information regarding power consumption for the 18L models (trust me, I’ve tried asking). The closest model, for some reason the 20L is very close when you compare the One and Two, so I don’t think there’s much in it, although the maximum wattage is different.

I live in a large 2 bedroom flat, it has a 18 foot high ceiling in the hall - Would the 12L for the whole property or would I need the larger model?

Hi thanks for the kind question. It'd cope with a 2 bed flat, but if you can afford it and have the space, I'd definitely advise going as large as possible eg 18L or 20L. We bought the 25lt "2" Its been pulling a good amount of water from the air, but as soon as you turn the unit off when its just finished to 55, the scale just jumps back up to 65 or higher 🤦 seems abit all over the place on the readings
@DADDELIVERS2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind comment -- I'm sure you know this, but when we switch the unit on, it takes about 10 minutes sampling the air to get the reading - this is while the extraction compressor is warming up/cooling down... Can I ask, how long have you been using it? For us, with the Arete One this time last year, we went through about 6 weeks to 2 months of emptying a lot of water, and then the amount dropped. We think it was because the dehumidifier was literally drying out the walls and fabric of the building. It might be that the readings are wrong, or it might be that when you run the area around the dehumidifier down to 55%, the moisture elsewhere in the house then goes to the dry area - literally drying out the whole house: walls, carpets furniture etc. If you're still emptying water from the tank, it could be a sign that it's doing good. Also, if it helps, the hydrometers on Amazon are quite cheap. You'll be able to see the humidity level in the room all the time. Hope something here helps!

Good video, also got the Arete 2 12l model. ‘Issue’ I have is it reports humidity 5% higher than 2 other monitors, I see most users say the Meaco reports lower. Also if the hepa filter is not installed it reports another 5% higher, eg 3rd party monitor shows 55% and Meaco would show 65%! Anyone else see this?
@DADDELIVERS2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind comment Alec - really interesting. I find it really difficult to read what the graphical interface is showing anyway and so using it as a general jist! I need to reinstall the app to see if that shows an actual figure. Hope you find out more about this, and thanks again for the message
@alecfinnemore7992 ай бұрын
@ yep the display matches the app figure. The 12l should be enough for my space, eg an open plan of around 80m3, plus upstairs. Though don’t think it’s ever got to the target 55%, now trying for 50%, so Meaco at 57 and monitors at 52%, almost as if working on right figure but the right figure just not displayed. Have also sent email to Meaco for comment. Maybe a bigger unit may help but I find the lower speeds outputs more heat, so better for heating. Laundry mode a bit cooler, which would be default speed on bigger models.

Humidity is relative. When the RH was 71% the temp was 17°, in the second shot the temp.was 20.7°, this would naturally decrease the RH as the air can hold more moisture at this temperature. A better experiment would be to simply measure the water in the tank that was extracted after the time.

Thanks for the kind comment - we had this problem too... except for us, in the winter from say october to march, the walls get very cold in places, so the humidity condensed in those areas and the wet areas grew mould. For us this year, for the first time, we had no mould... and we didn't have the dehumidifiers on in the summer months. We've resigned ourselves to running them a lot in the winter, and the air seems cheaper/easier to heat because the radiators arent trying to heat up that denser air. It also seems to get warmer quicker. Plus the humidifiers seem to contribute warm air to the heating. We really didn't like the idea of running them for a long time at first - because of the electricity cost... but it feels like we're saving on heating, no tumble dryer and no mould... it feels like we're not spending more overall. But maybe that's just us!
